Hiya guys, just wondered if any of u guys would be good enough to offer advice or point me in the right direction. I've researched what I can but I'd like some advice on where to look. I'm hoping to train, probably in December in Muay Thai in Thailand in one of their many camps. It might only be for about a month but I can go back regularly. Been Thailand many times but not yet for this reason. Any suggestions? Looking to learn & improve as much as poss'. Fitness isn't an issue. Cheers all.
Dude, I am 44 and I have been training for 6 yrs, 4 hours a week. You cannot be older than me. I can still kick butt against much younger guys. It is just mentality and fitness.
yes, I guess you're right. I'm pretty fit and an ex-boxer so who knows, maybe i'll do it one day.
The leg flexibility is my main problem, my groin areas don't seem to allow me to throw those roundhouses much above waist height. Get a bit of pain from it. Other than that i could probably put up a good show.
$15 a day for 2 sessions morning 7am and afternoon 3pm. or you can take out a monthly gym membership for $382 which includes 1 muay thai session at 6pm everynight, I went for the membership so I could use the weights, cardio machines and other classes also the 6pm classes are empty so you have the help of 5-6 fighters, the other daily sessions are packed
That's not too bad at all. How long did the 6pm session usually last and what did it consist of? The usual skipping, shadow boxing, bag work, pad work, clinching? How many rounds did you get on the pads? Oh.. lol, and what time does the facility close at, if it's open 24hrs I'm going to be a very happy man .. lol, lots of questions .. thanks in advance..
6pm class is 1-1 training with your trainer,5 rounds at 3 mins a go with 1 min rest in between,it begins with a warmup doing shadow kickboxing.Your trainer will work you on the pads and spar a bit with you to work on your reactions. They will work on any area you need help with, i was a beginner so they drilled the basics into me and worked on my fitness. The 6pm class is quite so the trainers will take you out of the ring and get you to work on situps to finish a class. The club closes at 10pm
I agree, improve on your technique, also work on stretching morning and night to help improve flexibility and helps to to keep limbs straight. Thus improving technique. Also try some cardio mixed with light weights this will help staminar and maintaining steady power and energy.
Very true, this was my 2nd day doing Muay Thai, i spent 3 months there training so my technique is much more sharpe now, iam keeping the leg much more straight, kicking from the hip more also i am not flat footed now, i am always on my toes, overall i lost 15kg of weight from sep 29th-dec20th and made huge improvements in my Muay Thai training, if you get a chance to go to fairtex i really reccomend it.

Yea it is. But then again, this a high quality gym, everything is top quality... And the training you get is probably the best that you can get.
