  • Burlap to Kashmir

  • Great animation! This is how music videos should be. Creativty man!Great song too!

  • I'm trying to figure out the tabs for this. So far, I guess the capo's on the 5th fret. The base line is pretty easy to figure out, but I just can't seem to get to the delicate high notes he fills it with. Anybody?

  • @MartinEckert just pick in quick succession the 2nd (with finger on first fret) and 3rd strings from the top when the base line is at its low parts and the 1st and 2nd (with finger still on first fret) when the base line is at its high points.

  • Such a weird song. Awesome, though.

  • TEMAZO

  • Absolute favourite!:)

  • Still one of the best songwriters around. Thanks for sharing this with us.

  • Everyone who likes this - look up BURLAP TO CASHMERE. This guy is awesome. Saw him in person up front waaayyy before anyone knew of him or the band. He's an amazing talent, and such a great person.

  • @whoregay AND THEY ARE BACK TOGETHER ;)

  • I wanted to proclaim from the youtube podium. Burlap to Cashmere are going on tour...back together. Joy...I wonder if they will havbe any new songs? I cannot tell you how much I missed them.

  • Years ago when Dylan started out, the world made fun of him, now today he is a genius. Lets hope the world will not make that mistake again. I hope the people working with him will do the right thing. Simply he is a genius.

  • Years ago when Dylan came on the scene people made fun of him, today he is a genius. Lets hope the world will not make the same mistake again. I hope the people that work with him will do the right thing. Simply he is a genius.

  • i absolutely dig delopoulos. his music is one of the most authentic art i've heard in a long time. there's this folky Cat Stevens and off-the-wall Tom Waits quality, mixed with a very honest faith that makes me believe it. i wish and expect amazing things for his music...in both folk and christian worlds.

  • All that said, I love Steven's music and soulful guitar/voice! He represents good in this world, and our searching hearts and wants! No matter what his personal world view or religion. 'Me Died Blue' is a total masterpiece!

  • Stop burying the past and all of its glory. I think its funny how this song is written directly at you, as if you had some kind of personal contact with Steven. Masterpeice? What a cute opinion. Time will tell if this is a masterpeice.

  • Who's 'burying' the past? I mention and praise 'Me Died Blue' precisely because it is so good, it's 'timeless'. Sounded as good then as it will 10 years from now. Also, I think 'cute' is the wrong choice of words on your part. We're not talking 'puppies' here! LOL!

  • You're silently wreaking off the dust of his hair, a masterpeice is 'scenes' that song will go down in history...me died blue, im not so sure. I like puppies...don't you? Everybody likes puppies! They are masterpeices, Puppies.

  • Steve's reeking a little bit too much of daisies and sandalwood, whatever happened to the basic instruction days...people like that kind of music.

  • "Daisies And Sandalwood" is a masterpiece of a song! Different than his 'Burlap To Cashmere' days, but still as great.

  • steven never stops amazing me! he is so refreshing. he says things in ways other artist can only dream of.

  • Steven Delopoulos is an IMMENSE talent! 'Me Died Blue' is a MASTERPIECE! That said, I wish he would 'tone down' his overtly religious imagery. 'Me Died Blue' had some, but not like his current stuff. His music should appeal to ALL people, not just Christians! My 2 cents.

  • Why not sing about that which most inspires you to sing?

If you feel like you're missing out by not following Christ, well, that's because you are. We'd welcome you.

  • You are correct as far as singing what moves you. But, as an agnostic (can't prove, nor disprove the past or present existence of a 'god', or 'superior being'), I can't say i'm 'missing out' on something that may or may not exist. Also, ethics and morality are certainly NOT solely predicated on, or monopolized by religion only. They can, and do, exist WITHOUT it.

  • Well you can't disprove or prove Christ if you are confining your proof to a system of unproveability. As your name "sophia" proclaims, i hope you obtain wisdom to expand your limits of proof. I fear it's too narrow. I think your thoughts of morality and ethics are beginning to open the doors of the transcendent Christ, as you have said correctly.

  • Believe me, as an introspective and highly cerebral, thinking Greek, I fully know the meaning of 'Sophie'. Which is why I think like I do. I am a REALIST who bases my philosophy and living on the logical and known. I will not waste my life by 'putting all my eggs in one religious basket', so to speak. Religion is weak, at best, and does not prove reality, or provide concrete answers to the great questions of life!

  • The reality of Christ does not confine itself to human logic, I'm afraid; but if you truly look for the evidence, you will find it. It's in songs like these that you can't deny the reality of its effect. Much like proof of the wind by seeing the effects of a hurricane. You can't see it, touch it, or hold it, but you can see how it impacts the world around us. Jesus deserves every bit of honor that Steven gives Him in his music. I hope you see this one day. God bles you.

  • You say 'the reality of Christ'. With all due respect, *WAS* Christ real? And if he did exist, isn't it illogical and outrageous to presume he 'arose from the dead', and performed 'miracles' when alive?! Granted, there is a lot of wisdom (and violence) in The Bible, but since MORTAL MEN wrote it (not some 'god'), it logically stands that it is not a 'divine' book in any way. That said, morality and ethics CAN stand alone, not needing religion.

  • I can't say anything that sets the record straight on the end of not experiencing for yourself. It is illogical in every way. But there are miracles all over the world everyday: manifestations of work done outside of the physical realm. Sounds bogus; you're right. I would have a hard time believing unless I'd seen things that are unarguably illogical and only explained by the work of a God that surpasses our understanding of reality, only for His glory in Jesus.

  • Well, frankly, I have not seen any miracles in my life so far, relating to myself or observing in others. All i've seen is lots of suffering and heartache in the world. Sure there is good happening too, but I cannot come to terms with stuff like 9/11, a mom clutching her dead baby in wartime, or a child dying of cancer in intense pain, etc. etc. WHAT *good* 'god' would allow this???!!!

  • Those are also good questions, about things we all have to deal with as humans. It's part of our existence here on the earth. I once believed that God loved us too much to see us go through pain. This was due largely to my association of Love with a feeling of happiness. Then I began to walk through places in life that were intensely painful, and realized that God wanted me to so that He could do a work in me.

  • My best summation is a quote by Spurgeon, a man who knew Christ as severely as I ever wish to. It reads, "Happy storm that wrecks a man on such a rock as this! O blessed hurricane that drives the soul to God--and God alone! When a man is so poor, so friendless, so helpless that he has nowhere else to turn--he flies into his Father's arms, and is blessedly clasped therein!

  • That makes no sense though! Why is it that most only when a person is faced with intense pain or heartache (desperation), they turn to belief in a 'god' or Jesus for comfort? It seems that total belief or surrender to a 'god' is predicated on suffering until you can't handle it anymore!

  • He has promised to be a helper, a shelter in the storm, and a solid rock on which we can stand. I shouldn't take from Him the right to that even if I look at dependence on Him as a cop-out. I think the reason that pain is most effective of our humility is that it is the most powerful thing that allows us to realize that we are not in control as much as we wish to be. We then have only one place to go- to the one that controls everything.

  • But if 'god' is 'all-knowing', and 'all-powerful', and 'all-encompassing', WHY WHY WHY is there SO MUCH suffering, desperation, violence, etc. in OUR WORLD???!!!

  • That's a great question, and one that I ask all the time. Some days, I can feel comfortable and safe and not have to think about things like that. I can get on my computer and listen to songs about love and fun times and all that. Then other times, I think about the war, and ignored hunger on the doorsteps of a capitalist restaurant, and whatever else is a product of selfish man. My only answer is that I am the problem.

  • I'd like to blame it on others, but the truth is, that same selfish and depraved nature is in myself. It is only through Jesus that these desires for myself can be transformed into His desires. Why does pain exist? Man has sinned and fallen away from God. However, I can trust in His Sovereignty over my life and know that He is the one taking care of me; not myself or anyone else.

  • "Our views of God do not change how much He loves us; however, they do affect how much we can receive that Love." If we begin to open ourselves up to His Love, we will see that He can conquer any depravity that results from sin. He is God, and through Jesus, we can come to know the peace in being held by Him.

  • Because man, even christian man, always wants to make their own path to salvation rather than accept grace completely. Once you understand grace, it will change you. There is no fight for who is right. Just let God do his work.

  • I am a REALIST. I base my life on the known, and am humbled by the unknown. I can't begin to understand 'grace' because I don't believe The Bible is a holy book. I believe, like all religious books, it was written by mortal man. The truth is WE DON'T KNOW IF THERE WAS OR IS A 'GOD' AND WE DON'T KNOW WHAT EXISTS BEYOND THE BOUNDARIES OF DISTANT GALAXIES AND OUTER SPACE! Of course, this doesn't logically mean our lives have to be meaningless, or that we don't know morality or ethics.

  • You have to ask yourself then, how does something, i.e. life itself even begin to start when science itself has proven that the natural order of things is from order to disorder, nothing starts out disorganized and randomly becomes order. That IS known, but yet when it comes to the beginning of life, scientists want to make an exception.

  • Both scientists and religious fanatics don't know the answers to our great cosmological and philosophical questions. It would be wise and humble to correctly state that we humans just don't know. There is nothing wrong with that viewpoint.

  • amen

  • And Im Greek too:)

  • YASOU! Me too! My father is from Patras, and my mother's side from Nafpaktos in Greece. Been there many times. It's stunningly gorgeous in so many ways!

Is it safe also to assume (from your moniker) that you are a guitar slinging Dentist?

  • Yep. I wanted to be a rock star but alas, it wasnt to be. So I became a kidsdds. But I love this Dylanesque style this guy plays.

  • Me too! Loved prog rock and hard rock/metal, among many genres including Greek music. Still do at age 46! Yes, Steven is an AMAZING singer and musician. 'Me Died Blue', a previous release of his, is even more amazing than his current stuff, in my opinion. BTW, my 'old man' is a DDS. He's now about 78 and just retiring! He loves the profession. Thanks for the discussion and debate as well. I will say this... when I look into my beautiful 2 year old's eyes, I say I hope there is a 'God'!

  • Well Dentists dont die, their drills just slow down. hahaha. Anyway, ya good conversation, Congrads on your child:) peace.

  • Fantastical and beautiful. All of Delopoulos's songs should be illustrated and this was wonderful.

  • Great song and vid. Looking forward to seeing Steven in Charlotte on May 20th
