thanks man i am going to get some more catfish since u said that i thought if i added 4 to a 10 gallon i would be overstoking since they grow to 4 inches and i have 3 glowfish sooooo if i added 4 that would be a maximum of 19 inches of fish in a 10 gallon tank is that ok?
You will be fine with 6 cories and 3 glowfish in a 10 gallon, if you do regular water changes (25-30% per week, with gravel vacuuming) and don't overfeed.
@lamecow21 You could probably put 3 otos in there, but you'd have to be diligent with your water changes (25-30% weekly). Otos can be sensitive to water quality, and prefer to be in a well-established, stable tank (set up several months at the very least). Don't scrape the glass on a couple sides of the tank, so algae can grow for the otos. They will also usually learn to eat flakes, algae wafers, and blanched veggies.
can u feed them vacation feeder shells? as a staple food?.... oh yeah and how do u blanch the veggies like cucumber-zuccini? plz help love the vid! oh yeah and do u know any spieces of eel that can fit in my 10 gallon with 3 glow fish 2 cory catfish and maybe 1 snail in a month or so.... I just want a eel that will not eat my fish and not hide 24/7 thanks plz answer! ( love the vid )!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wouldn't recommend using vacation feeders as a regular diet (or ever, actually). They can foul the water pretty fast, and provide more food than just a few fish will eat. Much better to use flakes or wafers and feed on a regular schedule.
To blanch veggies, drop them in boiling water for about 30 seconds, then remove them and let them cool before putting in the tank.
For an eel-like fish, you could look into getting a kuhli loaches. They stay small, and are long and thin like an eel. They do like to be in groups, as they are very social.
To be honest, if you're set on keeping the cories you have, I would get a few more cory catfish instead of anything else. Cories are also much happier in groups. If you added 3-4 cories, your tank would be fully stocked. Alternatively, take the cories back to the fish store and get kuhli loaches instead.
Yes, between all the fish in the tank (6 panda cories, 5 otocinclus, 5 glowlight tetras, 2 black neon tetras), the wafer is gone. Any crumbs are cleaned up by the snails.
That wafer is from Hikari, just a regular catfish wafer (can't remember the exact type, as that package was used up). If your fish don't like the ones you have, try another brand. Mine also like TetraVeggie Algae Wafers Extreme. They also like blanched veggies (zuchinni, etc).
@soobie123 dont ever say tetra veggie algae waffers... my otto and plecs dont stay on those for long only 2 secs.. its not meant for plecos though all my hifin eat them
