  • Dear god,

please send me to hell and not heaven because it would be hell if I have to be surrounded by KKKristians like Pat Robertson and the Family research council

  • i agree with laura, opponents of prop 8 who brand supporters by calling them bigots and intolerants.

yea, great way to convince us.

  • @x0rr3g "stop being gay or you will be tortured forever by an all loving god who probably doesnt exist"

you bloody well certainly arent convincing us either! :P

  • As I've stated before, violence and hate should not be tolerated. I know that there is hate by some towards gays. I was surprised however, that there has been as much hate speech from gays towards people that voted against these propositions. I would vote against gay marriage, not because of hate, but the economic impact. My motive is selfish but not hate.

  • If some people are uneducated about the civil rights movement, or want to think that gay rights supporters are saying that the discriminatory actions against them are the same, that's their error.

The similarity is that it's over civil rights, and to take away the strength of that, when you don't know what it's like for gays to be discriminated against even by their own families is obtuse. No one ever committed suicide just because people they were closest to hated them for being black.

  • It's real easy for a gay person to follow Clinton's "don't ask, don't tell". A gay person can do this. Try to have a black person follow "don't ask, don't tell". That is impossible. The same for older people who suffer more discrimination in the workplace than any other group. I know many who would gladly not tell their age if it would help but it won't.

  • I'm not arguing over who's got it worse, being black or being gay. If you want to say it's like comparing apples to oranges, I agree, but it's still fruit that we are talking about (no pun intended, although that might be a sweet line for Colbert). Similarly we are talking about human beings who are oppressed. If you look at numbers, you might be right to assume that blacks have suffered more (bc more than 2% of the population is black).

  • But if you compare the scars, the mistreatment and the inequalities, the issue becomes far too blurred to compare. You will find gays who've had it worse than many black people and you will find black people who have had it worse than many gays. Do you really care enough to research and compare the percents of the gay and black populations to see who's suffered all or none of the discrimination that gets applied to their group? O'Riley and his cronies just want to see a fight break out.

  • If five gay guy walks down the street at midnight, more than likely people will not walk to the other side of the street to avoid them but if 5 law abiding black guys walk the same street there is a good chance that those same people will walk to the other side of the street. You know this is true. Gays that don't flaunt that they are gay aren't even recognizable. Haters never even know.

  • Now you're just ignoring me. This isn't an argument about who's got it worse. Are you trying to treat it like rape and say that when gays get beat it's their own fault for being out of the closet?

  • No one should ever be physically harmed for any reason.

  • I agree, and both Homosexuals and African Americans have been violently killed and violently beaten and denied other civil rights because of who they are. That is why this is a civil rights issue which bears no moral difference from the civil rights movement 50 years ago.

  • FYI, I live in Dallas, and anti-hate crimes do not cover GLBT hate crimes, where a gay man was attacked and killed because he was thought to be gay in front of his fiancee. There are more GLBT hate crimes in Dallas than crimes against African Americans. I had a friend who was offered a ride home by a couple of guys posing as gay, but they got to his house and tried to kill him because he was gay. We experience hate for who we are just as you do. My father refuses to talk to me because I'mgay
