This is great but my question is will this fix work on a Rock Band 3 Guitar? Because the little white plastic peaces that stick out on the strum bar broke off the strum bar on the in side. the ones that hit the connect pads. and will this make it clickie ???

Got a fix for the Gen 4 guitars? I have two tiny PCAs with magnetic reed switches. My strum bar has two magnet posts near the center of the strum bar to engage the switches. Both switches are broke off at the solder wells.

The guy did a good job with this video, but what bothers me is how much time is wasted on worrying about your precious Rock Band guitar. Pick up a real guitar, learn something, develop a talent that serves a purpose and one that could lead to something... like getting laid by a real woman... I feel so sorry for all of you. I believe that harmonix and EA make shitty products just to encourage people to buy more of their expensive and more advanced products. For example the ion drum rocker= over 400$. Which is very fucked up if you ask me.
dos not help for the ps3 one different on the inside and i busted the power supply to the battery and some other things oh well ill have to buy a new one

Your example was incorrect! It was an example of a pickup being called a pickup. It was an inductor being used to detect motion which generates a voltage which triggers a transistor. The transistor is the actual switch in the circuit. That has NOTHING to do with this guitar mod. A mechanical switch (ie two metallic contacts making a circuit) is not the same and its NEVER referred to as a pickup. Ive been playing guitar for 16 years and I repair electronics by trade.Face it, you are wrong!

Yup, and with the new switch, this toy guitar's "pick up system" and the contacts pick up the strums and voltage perfectly. He also does a perfectly fine job of explaining how to put the new switch in. I think the switch model even shows up on the screen and says "switch". Yup, no ambiguity here, and a fine job of explaining this mod. Great job, Matt. Thanks for helping us out.

my rock band guitar reciever (the square-ish box) keeps flashin instead of just being glowing red. i tryed everything like change the batteries and also. and in the guitar, the lil red button (not the fret) that next to da start and select button doesnt glow red . i need help. thanx =]
Then you either have to fix the fret buttons on the les paul or fix the squeaking on the wt guitar. If I had to choose I would try to just fix the les paul.
yeah, buy GH for PC. Keyboards won't crash so fast! It might sound lame, but believe me, it's more fun than a fake plastic geetar! (me: G->O is A,S,D,F,Space; strum:num4,num5; SP:num6; whammy:num8;; and I beat TTFAF on xpert with 300kpts)
U can get now GH3, GH:A and GH:WT for PC. GH:A is buggy so I don't recommend it. But the other 2 are good...
Yes, it does. I just did this and it works beautifully, I no longer have the down strum misses or the up strum misses. However, the drawback is that of insufficient signal control in the Rock Band hardware that prevents it from registering quick up and down strumming which is required with the really fast songs.

seriusly, i dont think is a good idea break the guitar into 2 and fix it your own, i think is better to check the batteries, and if not it will be better to go to an expert in computer, like your techonlogy teacher in the school, or a good technology place where you live..

actually the guitar hero ones are better one they dont hurt you to strum they dont miss notes you can tell where the frets are there hard to break and there compatible with almost all guitar games and rock band only works on rockband
The best screws to use are #4 1/2" Pan Head screws for metal. Also, take a 3/32 drill and widen the hole in the switch first (it's a brittle type of plastic, so it's a good idea). With the same drill bit, drill the holes in the case a little wider (after you cut off the 1/8 inch).
Also, you don't need a test meter, The three terminals are labeled C, NO, and NC. They stand for Common, Normally Open, and Normally Closed. The ones you want are NO and C.
ya my first rock band guitar had those two bars on the strummer bent after hard playing so it wouldnt trigger a note it would just be held on the strum because the two bent together Should be a safety tip:Take the batteries out first -______-
made this mod to my wii guitar as a last resort to throwing it away. worked well but had to fit the switches a bit differently to get it to work without catching the strum bar on the switches.

And yes, I agree....beer SHOULD be part of the materials list to calm your nerves and give you a steady hand. Just make sure you save the other 5 for afterwards if you manage to kill your controller. Cool project if your guitar woulda ended up in the dumpster anyways. :)

My rockband guitar works perfectly. I beat the crap out of it, even did one of those stage smash things... (it didn't break =P) and it still works. Soda spilled in it even. Works like a charm. The strum bar is so silent, I love it. But the buttons are loud as crap, and I'm thinking of replacing them.
my guitar broke and when i opened it up it actually had to switches that were similar to the ones he uses in side so i actually went out and bought an explorer guitar from guitar hero 2 took out the entire strumming assembly and mounted it in my rockband guitar its very ugly but it works like its supposed to

Then you either have to fix the fret buttons on the les paul or fix the squeaking on the wt guitar. If I had to choose I would try to just fix the les paul.

yeah, buy GH for PC. Keyboards won't crash so fast! It might sound lame, but believe me, it's more fun than a fake plastic geetar! (me: G->O is A,S,D,F,Space; strum:num4,num5; SP:num6; whammy:num8;; and I beat TTFAF on xpert with 300kpts)
U can get now GH3, GH:A and GH:WT for PC. GH:A is buggy so I don't recommend it. But the other 2 are good...

Yes, it does. I just did this and it works beautifully, I no longer have the down strum misses or the up strum misses. However, the drawback is that of insufficient signal control in the Rock Band hardware that prevents it from registering quick up and down strumming which is required with the really fast songs.

seriusly, i dont think is a good idea break the guitar into 2 and fix it your own, i think is better to check the batteries, and if not it will be better to go to an expert in computer, like your techonlogy teacher in the school, or a good technology place where you live..

actually the guitar hero ones are better one they dont hurt you to strum they dont miss notes you can tell where the frets are there hard to break and there compatible with almost all guitar games and rock band only works on rockband

The best screws to use are #4 1/2" Pan Head screws for metal. Also, take a 3/32 drill and widen the hole in the switch first (it's a brittle type of plastic, so it's a good idea). With the same drill bit, drill the holes in the case a little wider (after you cut off the 1/8 inch).
Also, you don't need a test meter, The three terminals are labeled C, NO, and NC. They stand for Common, Normally Open, and Normally Closed. The ones you want are NO and C.
You flush cutters and nippers, not snips.

ya my first rock band guitar had those two bars on the strummer bent after hard playing so it wouldnt trigger a note it would just be held on the strum because the two bent together Should be a safety tip:Take the batteries out first -______-

made this mod to my wii guitar as a last resort to throwing it away. worked well but had to fit the switches a bit differently to get it to work without catching the strum bar on the switches.

And yes, I agree....beer SHOULD be part of the materials list to calm your nerves and give you a steady hand. Just make sure you save the other 5 for afterwards if you manage to kill your controller. Cool project if your guitar woulda ended up in the dumpster anyways. :)

My rockband guitar works perfectly. I beat the crap out of it, even did one of those stage smash things... (it didn't break =P) and it still works. Soda spilled in it even. Works like a charm. The strum bar is so silent, I love it. But the buttons are loud as crap, and I'm thinking of replacing them.

my guitar broke and when i opened it up it actually had to switches that were similar to the ones he uses in side so i actually went out and bought an explorer guitar from guitar hero 2 took out the entire strumming assembly and mounted it in my rockband guitar its very ugly but it works like its supposed to
