what about if u place a layer in the same image? how would u resize the layer without effecting the whole image?

It was ok but you didnt tell how to upscale to lets say a 2 X 4 to a 10 X 8.

I really need some help, well first of all I have Adobe Photoshop CS3 and when I want to add a new layer to my photo, using the lasso tool it always appears so small on the picture. And I dont know how to resize it because it doesent show a square!
