  • I remember playing this version as a kid. I didn't realize how small the sprites are.

  • Gotta love the classics!!!

  • Comment removed

  • heres the cheat i looked it up on ur site and didnt find it for 32x here ya go =)

At the Options screen, highlight 'Done', then press Left, Down, Right, Right, Down, Left, Left, Left, Left, Right, Right, Right.

  • tmk the genesis version didnt have the story like the arcade in the bigining just the thunder mk2 dragon and random incomplete cpu fights this version is actualy really cool makes me wish i had a 32x they cost alot now day online but i will get one soon...

thx awsome review hope you get a saturn so u can review more mk.

  • @mivecturbo why do that when you can use an emulator?

  • @Webshooters1 why emulate when you can own an original copy!!!

if emulation is so great, why have a console? emulate a ps3 or 360 on ur pc, if u can! still not worth the same as a console...

having a rare working console and a rare game for that console is worth more than a pc that can emulate a ps1000 or a xbox 9000

  • @mivecturbo A rom won't corrode or break. An emulator won't either. It also saves wires and reduces the risk of a fire. Instead of having 9 billion systems hooked up in your living room. All my old consoles are in a display case and every now and then i break one out for the true nostalgia but there's a good reason for emulation. Not to mention all the great filters that make a lot of games look better then they did on the original console.

  • @TheUnbiasedGamer more power to you. a console is a console a pc is just a computer i just dont belive in pc gaming even though i use emulation for rare games (on my psp) but its whatever your into is not like i care what other ppl do, everyone is free to do as they please. ive never had a cartridge corrode lol that would suck if the game is realy expensive ive had systems blow a fuse lmao but gaming is fun how ever you do it!!!

  • @mivecturbo Emulation doesn't require a PC. I rarely use PC emulation but yeah he games are just as fun no matter how you play it. As long as it's playable. =)

  • which version is better the snes version or the 32x version? And is it true that a 32x can damage genesis games

  • @Crazymonkeybut

I still say SNES is better. This still has the Genesis version music, while the Gens MK1 and MK2 music is good on it's own, it's lower quality than the SNES.

  • Love the 32x version. My only complaint is that I'm in Europe and the PAL version seems to be somewhat slower than the NTSC version.

  • shang's fire ball go arrrr in mk 1 not mk2

  • I don't think I have ever met a person that I know owns a 32X

  • @Deader87 i don't remember 32x being out that long.

  • @BrickCity4eva We'll I guess I don't either, I guess it was just not too popular or something

  • @Deader87 it most likely wasn't just like the Sega Saturn

  • @BrickCity4eva Interesting

  • I ended up seeking this out and a 32x to satisfy my retrogaming curiosity because of your review. Thanks. It wasn't too much $.

  • damn, that television is ancient. Is that a Zenith?

  • This is the best MK2 console version, even better than Sega Saturn and PSX versions

  • Your TV looks so old. But your PC is all that matters , right?

  • @modewr Its not old its the latest model! It has 5 HDMI ports on the back and Display port and that is HIGHER native resolution that HDMI!!!

  • this seems to be the best version next to the arcade version

  • Japanese 32X version has very happen to bug as soon as started.

  • you forgot to mention all the background details like the gragons flying on the spike stage

  • This version looks awesome!!!

This is the version i wish I had but of course I didnt have the 32x. I still play MKII on my genesis and even though there are a lot of things that are lacking I still like to play it.

  • Mortal Kombat II (Sega 32X)

    Test Mode

At the Options screen, highlight Done, then press Left, Down, Right, Right, Down, Left, Left, Left, Left, Right, Right, Right.

  • Jax is such an asshole because hes allways on steroids

  • i have the ntsc version of this game on 32x Ahh i have mk1 sega cd too lol

  • I mean i had 32x myself,,, The only good part of the game was same gameplay , great sounds and that was it... Snes was good, but sloppy gameplay

  • offcourse its better than the megadrive version you idiot its 32 bit stupid!!! 1

  • Dude, are you ok? It sounds like to took some ecstasy or something. 5:55

    Haha

  • I think the Super Nintendo was always better than Sega. The colors

and sounds when Sega was bad. Only with the Sega 32X

Sega came to what Nintendo has always had. good

Graphics and sounds. But everyone should like what pleases him.

  • From what I remember about this game... it seemed like they improved the graphics of the characters, but then just left the "background" graphics exactly the same as the Megadrive/Genesis version. That was kind of disappointing as the background graphics weren't that great. I think if they had actually gone in and created the game from the bottom up using the 32X's potential, it would've looked great!

  • the background graphics were excellent on the 32x version, unlike the megadrive version. thus your talking bollocks !

  • This game is DEFINITELY better animated and sounding. It's a 32-bit version.

  • I said it for the Americans...

  • hey tmk are you gonna review MK1 for the sega CD?

  • No Blackbohnster the snes version doesn't have the wuuuaaaaaaaaaaaa sound.

  • The 32x version of MK2 is the best. I should know, I had the dam thing and it was great.

  • best mortal kombat game ever

  • Your Soul Is Mine!.... Yeahhh Baby!

  • are you running Pal or NTSC ? Looks a bit slow from what I remember.

  • PAL

  • Hey TMK, you say: The SNES Version of MK2 didn´t had the "Fatality" sound!

But I played MK2 on SNES for ages and I know 100%, that the SNES Version has the "Fatality" sound

  • It had the "Fatality" speech sound, but not the sound effect that goes with it from the arcade version. 32X version had the speech and the sfx.

  • wow this is better than the snes port. although, that four on four "tournament" mode the snes had was bloody brilliant!

  • Wow. This game was pretty similar to the arcade version

  • whats your website

  • hahahahahahahaha

  • but i dont know his web site

  • got this game for pc for free yesterday.

  • Scorpian and Sub-Zero Rule

  • Great review

  • I loved this game ! best port of mk2.

  • I actually didn't know about a saturn version until now wow lol.

  • This is the 32X version.

  • no, I was talking to bulldogface. he just told me there was a saturn version and I looked it up.

  • reviewed some of your videos man awesome stuff loved the mk games

  • this is the best port of the game hands down, one of the only reasons I got a 32x. the sound, gfx, and colors are great.

  • what about saturn

  • And the control is better than the SNES one. The controls in the SNES version were a little delayed. The 32x port deserved a 10/10.

  • if you were to look at any game and say it had bad graphics, that can be as bad as what happens if you dont have the '32x to megadrive' cable to play this, because if you didnt have that cable you would get NO graphics!

  • Okay the game has more sound effect but worse music.

Also, the AI is CRAZY hard, i mean TOO hard. We also know the 32X version has more frames for animations

However, which version looks better, SNES or 32x? Is the 32x version just a more colourful version of the MD game?

  • 32x is most likely better, since its 32bit and not 16bit, thus not as pixelated.

  • why do people always complain about the music in the sega genesis and 32x versions? i mean, they did the same thing with the Tekken series when they ported them to the playstations. they did it with killer instinct. im gonna say that i like the 32x version the best.

  • In the Genesis version they mixed up some musics, like you said in MKT for n64, and then this 32X used the same mix, look like they just made a upgrade in the Genesis game. You can listen to the Kombat Tomb music in the select player screen, and other stuff like this

  • Ok. Next time please don't just yell at me and tell me my preference sucks. I do agree though that nintendo has been dicking around the past year not giving fans hardcore games. However lately with the DSi they have been showing some old titles come back. Apparently at E3 nintendo is giving us a lot.

CAN'T WAIT.........god they better not screw this up!

  • How does "You shouldn't down something because you prefer something else. I like them both and I'm buying an old 32x today" at all sound mean. I wasn't trying to change your opinion, I was trying to state my own. And if you can't handle that your a hypocrite.

  • Wow. I tried to be nice but then you came back with an asshole answer. Yes. Nintendo sucks. That's why they're soaring through sales records and Sega is going bankrupt because they fired their good sonic team years ago......yeah....

    .....blast processing?

  • GOD.. THE sound and music is nasty.. I think the SEGA SATURN version was much bettter. The loading sucked however just like MK3 for PS1.

  • You shouldn't down something because you prefer something else. I like them both and I'm buying an old 32x today.

  • cool review, 32x is the shait

  • Are you going to review Mortal Kombat 1 for the Sega Mega CD?

  • genesis didn't have the intro screens like the 32x, which is from the arcade intro

  • For the record the Genesis version sounds just like this version except it has less voices. I think crappy Acclaim did this to make a profit on selling both Genesis and 32X versions.

Good thing Midway used their own in house team for developing the home console version of MK3.

  • The 32X uses the exact same engine as the Genesis version. This game simply adds more colors and voices and that is it. It's amazing how shitty probe was compared to sculptured software.

  • Probes version of Mortal Kombat 1 on Genesis BEAT THE SHIT out of the Sculptured Software version...show some respect!

  • LOL the Genesis control was better and it had the blood otherwise the graphics were awful and the sound was even worse.

  • The gameplay shit all over the super nintendo version!

  • I kinda agree. But I like the snes version just as much. The snes version has the mood of the arcade. Music and graphics. But the megadrive had the gameplay and blood.

  • I will show no respect for Probe. Probe and Acclaim suck. They cheaped out and used a 2 megabyte cartridge on MK1 and a 3 megabyte cartridge on MK2 just to save money.

  • 32x was my favorite till i got th sega saturn version

  • i would like to see the ending images too, but i don't think you can make it an 8 just for that. although, i've never played this version (never owned a 32x) -- they probably just ran out of room on the cartridge.

  • Mortal kombat for the sega 32x has better graphics than the super nintendo, super nintendo was a little better as in for the sound department, but what I like about the 32x is that when you knock down your oponent at the pit 2 sounds much better and it makes it look better than the super nintendo version, like I said both systems have their ups and downs but I really prefer the sega 32x better over the super nintendo version.

And what would u rather have good endings or a good start story?

  • Comment removed

  • And I know, genesis and snes are different. But I compared it to that

  • heh I had this game on 32x. Loved it much better cause the screams were better than the Snes. But still. what a shitty add on.

  • fail below

  • i think the cheat mode cheat is LEFT DOWN RIGHT RIGHT DOWN LEFT LEFT LEFT LEFT RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT. it seems like they really tried to put in as much from the arcade port of mk2 into this port as possible.

  • I did that, It's not the cheat. and its l,d,l,r,d,r,l,l,r,r.

  • @TotalMK It's definitely l,d,r,r,d,l,l,l,l,r,r,r

  • so you cant review any games if you dont have them? well thats unfortunate because the sega saturn version of mk trilogy and master system version of mk3 are fairly easy to get on an emulator but near impossible to get on the console, also mk2 32x is a much needed improvement over the mega drive version

  • Anyone can get emulated games, I do my reviews on the actual consoles.

  • Omg me too lol

  • Did you play Sega Mega Drive Model 1 and 32X

  • Thank you. What would you give the Mega CD version and the MegaDrive/Genesis version out of ten?

  • Are there any differences between the 32X and the MegaDrive/Genesis?

  • yeh big differences

the sound is heaps different i think its wav on segacd and mid on the orihin megadrive version as i played both.

the best version i've noticed is the version in the midway arcade treasures 2 cd for xbox and ps2

its an exact arcade port i think segacd still has better quality sound but its exactly what you get in the cinemas and its for ps2 and not psx or mega drive

  • oh yah, and one thing you might not have noticed. look at the shadows and compare the Gen-err... MegaDrive ;) to the 32X shadows!

  • heheh... i got a 32X ONLY for MK2 3 faults: music still Genesis, with only a slight quirks added the guts disappear still ... and yah, the ending pics :( but other than that, LOVE this conversion by the way try:: left down right right down left left left left right right right
  • the segacd sound is wav and not midi i think

i think the midway arcade treasures 2 version is best

  • i bought arcade treasures 2 a week or so ago and i love it, the flickering of shadows is essentially the only fault i could find... in other words it's 99.999999999999999999999999999999% perfect

  • the flickering was actually in the arcade version i think

its pretty much a perfect port

its just a shame they only included mk1 on the psp version and not the ps2 or xbox version

but theres the plug n play version of mk1 its a perfect port almost just hasnt got the background movement like the audience clipping and shang tsung clapping or moving his head but the fatalities blood and everything else is perfect

    its a 90% perfect game

  • eh the plug n play is more like a "super" version of the Genesis, it plays pretty good, i like it, but you're praising it more than you should haha. the music for one is poop compared to what it *should* sound like.

Also, MK1 is one the special deluxe edition of Mortal Kombat Deception. it's a perfect port except the contrast is kind of high

  • also the controller is set exactly as the arcade machine

and i'd prefer to not have to rebuy deception for to own the game

  • I actually prefer the music in the Genesis version. I own the game on Saturn, as well, and I've always just liked the Genesis versions music more.

  • that one is impossable to MOTHA FUCKING BEAT!!!! i hate that one

  • what one?

  • Mortal Kombat 2 is, for me the best Mortal Kombat ever made. The music really does it for me. I absolutely love it in this game. The fatalities were probably the most goriest and disturbing and the gameplay was great. It was a little too tough in places and a little too simple in others but it's definately a great game. I agree with your ranking, TMK. 8/10 for me too.

  • When are you going to review the playstation version of MK II?

  • 32X version of MKII seem to still had Genesis music so that's a let down for me. SNES version had no arcade intro but had arcade endings but not this version even though it does had arcade intro. SNES version of MKII had Endurance Mode which no other versions had. Saturn & PS1 MKII had arcade quality graphics but got destroy by load times. PS3 version had online but is very laggy. Midway Arcade Treasure and Shaolin Monk versions are arcade perfect but won't allowed you to fight Smoke.

  • I play mk2 from the shaolin monks game. Are there any cheats for invincibility that works?Love mk2 but the difficulty is ridiculous.

  • dude i have the saturn version load times aren't as bad

  • The MAME version has it all:)

  • @Serb1anArchangel no shit because that is the arcade version ha

  • Great review.I play mk2 from the shaolin monks game. Are there any cheats for invincibility that works?Love mk2 but the difficulty is ridiculous.

  • midway arc treasures version was too fucking difficult. the arcade version wasnt that hard really.

  • lol you know they are the exact same right?

All the home versions do is emulate the arcade roms.

  • ya i guess so, but the mat2 of mk2 had a few flaws cuz the home versions and arcade version i never found hard at all.

  • yah but... i mean

where we just THAT good as kids and are we just THAT rusty as adults? AT's MK2 just KICKS MY ASS, totally and completely and on the arcade i could at least beat the first 7 or 8 people on 2 quarters.........

maybe i just need practice :[

  • 0.20 you also have mk1 sega cd and sega saturn versions of mk2 and umk3 to collect

  • No I don't I already have them.

  • oh, well i guess you just havent made a video of them yet

  • duh...I have about 30 other MK games to review you know. PS2 / XBOX / Saturn / PS3 ect....

  • this is much improved over the mega drive version

unfortunately kintaro & shao kahn do not have any more voices

shao kahn does not have any more taunts

  • probably one of the decent games on the 32x

  • the one decent haha, THE ... ONE decent game

its the only reason i got a 32X to begin with HAHA!

  • just get the Saturn version

  • saturn version sucked for some reason the game play was choppy?? snes 32x are good but the ps3 download is arcade perfect

  • youre right! I just played the saturn version yesterday. and guess what it sucked!

  • cheat on this one is L,D,R,R,D,L,L,L,L,R,R,R. spot on review again tmk, one of my favorite versions.

  • I love that old retro TV!!! btw

  • did you do the special forces review? as i cant find it, cheers

  • I like how you keep the boxes of the games you bought ;) nice work !!

  • TMK i checked Wikipedia the animation have more frames on the 32x.

  • man how did u get Sega 32x ?

  • Most likely internet

  • I think that out of all of the versions of MKII that were released, the 32X version was the version that closely resembled the Arcade version. I've played the PS1 version of MKII, and quite frankly, I thought it sucked. Mainly, because it took a bitch to load, and when you did fatalities, the screen went black and white. The SNES version resembled the Arcade version when it came to the bg music. Also, MKII for SNES was better than MK for SNES for obvious reasons.

  • hi again , if you dont mind telling? how much did you pay fot the MK 32x? Aus $ right? cheers ,Game on Man!!

  • wher can I see your web addi? cheers

  • nice review man, again :) looking forward to the next one :)

  • You should review the mortal kombat mugen, search for the download on google.

  • Mugen is just a fanmade shit. Nothing compared to the originals.

  • Yaa it is. When I hear Mugen I think Mugen Motor sports which is an aftermarket part for Acuras and even Hondas! Then I heard about this Mugen BS and yeah I agree it seems more like some dude was on crack and said how cool would it be if Homer Simpson vs Scorpion, or maybe Ryu vs Shoa Khan. It doesn't stand the test of time because there is nothing original.

  • It's Shao Kahn.

  • @Serb1anArchangel I know this is a year too late but I know right. Mortal Kombat Project was a fanmade shit that was pallette swap hell.

  • This game raised me! The genesis ruled!! TMK, I love all your videos!

  • LMAO "Oh, COME ON!!"

  • LOL "boofhead"...

  • how come I cant leave a comment on your profile page?

  • man i could hang out with u all day hahaaha just play vid games all day woot

  • I really like the plug and play version of MK 2, you can't do much as far as VS. unless you buy another one, but at least it's portable.

  • The characters are animated better. Only the 32x version and the Jap PS1 release had the original arcade story intro untill MK2 was released on Midway Arcade Treasures 2. The SNES version was awsome but the 32x version was better, however it sucked that you had to buy the 32x addon to play it. It was too expensive for an addon, it didnt worth it for 1 game.

  • I liked it, too, but no Fergality on the 32X only just Genesis version!

  • game looks good glad it had speech mk2 was my favorite it was tough to beat but fun at the same time

  • I liked it, no Fergality though!
