Thank you for your courage!!! You are a beautiful and wise woman, and listening to you helps me. I am 45 yo and dealing with the results of childhood abuse and it is often a painful journey.
My sisters and mother still call me a liar when I told, trying to protect my niece from the same thing happening to her. Her own mother, my oldest sister, is still angry at me for "telling." Did it do any good? I have no idea. But I am so glad that Marilyn stated that "they never stop" so 20 years later I know I must have done the right thing. No matter what my family is still doing to me. The families have to stop protecting the abusers and blaming the victims. This has to STOP!
i love you Marilyn! you communicated with me by email several years ago and sent me your video as well. u are remarkable! you made such an impact on my life!
sweetsmile1: Marilyn communicated with me, too, some years ago and I got to meet her in person when she gave a talk at Duke University. I was able to tell how terrible the psychiatric profession treats survivors of incest and she spoke on some of the same points. She has saved my life and the lives of countless others. God bless you Ms. van Derbur!
i read her book she says the same stuff always. her book was okay. it was mostly about others lives and statistics. sad what happened to her but she could have wrritten a better bio.
omg. I can't even believe it. What a miracle
