  • I lived in Chicago, so I know a little something about pure evil-about guns and gangs and strife. My city is huge and a vast area in which to move about. This small beautiful place surely can be improved. WELL if it were not for the rich and greedy. Hey, money hoarders...Your back door is open. I see what you are not doing! Marvin Gaye sang it so poetic/best... What about the children? What about the babies? Who's to care?

  • To read the history of the many Trade Unions that, formed in the 1880's until today; for civil rights...Never help the shanty towns prosper, is heartbreaking. What was the rebellion and the revolution about? Freedom to live in ghetto's, to have children ducking bullets from morn to night? Oh, I see it is as it has always been...ABOUT GREED!

  • I have listen to the tears in the voice of Marley, I have heard the Trench Towns Blues...Now I see why the the Wailers...Wailed. Poverty and violence is an aweful and combustible situation. Our world is not a perfect world, there are ghetto's in every nation. It pains me to see and hear the haplessness in the voices and faces of children. It erks to know that this beautiful small but rich (from tourist , sugar, minerals, bananas, and rich artistic culture. Suffers so much.

  • this isn't 54 minutes...

  • These are my people. I love you all. To all people of African descent all around the world. One love!

  • Africa is a shithole..it always will be. Get used to it.

  • @krobinsonization To you fucking racist dumbass, FYI not all Jamaicans are as you see depicted in this documentary. Many of us are educated and talented hard working people who inspite corruption from our goverment and constant interference from the G8 COUNTRIES like Canada, Britain and the USA. My jamaican folks of all races are proud of our heritage and culture, so I guess there are no Canadians in Special schools!, if this is how you based opinion on a few it proves that you're dumb too!

  • @krobinsonization FUCK YOU AND YOUR FUCKING CANADA COUNTRY OF DRUG ADDICTED PEOPLE

  • yes this is really what its like in trenchtown i spent 14 months there and da ppl r still happier than us brits who get an easy life and they hardly have anything....big up rema i love it there...

  • Just a word to journeyman thank you for sharing, it's not Bob Marley's trenchtown, he comes from St Ann'sand just to respond to some of the comments posted, yes it is unfortunate that children have to exist in these situation's, as we know this is a worldwide thing it's just seems to be more prevalent in certain places than others, remember nowhere is better than nowhere...ITS JUST DIFFERENT

  • @swabes1

I like you said "nowhere is better than nowhere... just different" it's very true!!!

  • i stayed at some very nice beach side resorts in jamaica and didn't see any of this. the media is fabricating this report. jamaica is a beautiful place and the parties are great!

  • this brought me to tears, some people talk but dont know what it is to live there i can tell u it isjust ashow they discribed the only thing i can add is that although poverty lingers u still have good days where u find yourself happy with the few good people u find .to the young ambitious kid all i can say is education is the key to help u to get out of this place work is hard to get but u will have a better chance to get a job if u are educated ,get a job save and leave

  • Channel Good friend, I invite them to visit the mine, best regards

  • this video made me cry. I felt it for Jamaica and the Trench Town community. It only cost one dollar to watch for 7 days

  • IN reflection to the events the past week or so...this is a travesty. Please guide and protect the children and the families who SO much wish for a safe place in which to live. Live simply that others may simply live. PEACE Please Educate All Children Everywhere FOCUS For Our Children United Strong

  • watching this video really pains my heart this is not the jamaica i grew up in people please stop and think the world is watching this

  • just watched this film, brought me to tears

  • Education is the answer to this. I worked and went to School in Kingston, up town. I used to just love this city. King Street, Half Way Tree, New Kingston up into rural St. Andrew, very beautiful.

People watching this should know that this is just a little part of the city. The rest is peaceful, beautiful and not poor.

Beautifull homes, great sights and best food on earth, bar none. It is like having a sore toe that the doctor can't get better. That is what this is.

  • Sounds like an uptowner. How many decades has it been since you lived in Kingston?

This represents more than a little part of the city. Try most of downtown.

As for your wonderful Half Way Tree, I've been mugged there twice in the past 3 mths with my child watching Peaceful?

Surely you jest about the food. I've worked in 11 countries. I've never seen such abysmal food choices, poor sanitation and lack of imagination.

Education is a VERY long term answer. This country needs solutions today.

  • omg..i was seriously tearing up...this is sad....i am a teen myself but I can see that if people dont stop this gun violence mess that it aint gone be no future..how long will it take for the entire population of humans to be wiped out...those kids were scared...itz not our presidents fault itz the fault of the indivisual...people need to take in account other lives besides their own..

  • All major metropolitan cities, NYC Paris Rome London or Tokoyo have muggers. As for the Jamaican food, I don't know where you have been eating, but most people luv Jam food which has won gold medals in International Competitions. At least we don't have to worry about being served dog, elephant ass or horse meat & the people serving us are not spitting into it. Despites its problems Kgn is a beautiful city. Go to google earth and check out some of the beautiful sites of this awesome city.

  • WTF! do they need the subtitle for , everyone can understand what those kids are saying.

( long fused side eye )

  • Peace fo Jamaica

  • Peace pon Jamaica!!

    BLuefields, Nicaragua

  • yes l..dem politrix tun west kingston fi a hell pan earth...but mi nuh see god gwaan step dun an tek di sufferers dem out a captivity..revolution is a must ..di people mus learn dat gun nuh gwaan fi help dem..jus mash dem dun deeper...

  • As a youth mi use to liv inna Tivoli, every day a just gunshot sometime, but mi did still feel safe because a Claudi Massop, Bya George T and Hunchie..Long Live TG!!!

  • This is so sad, the children are suffering the most from the violence. One child said something very important "we have to leave it to god"

  • trenchtown jones town denham town, rae town, rema jungle, standpipe, rockfort, matthews lane, tivioli, plane land, red pond riverton, gully, gaza, seaview..God tun Im face away from all a dem place...is for man to put down him gun and strike fi a positive future for his pickney dem..

Kingston wake up! all you go do is kill up your kids future..mek a change now!!

  • pzgdr, I am very saddened when you say God has turned His face from downtown and the other parts of the city. I went to Seaview once and I am no longer the same. I understand why people are so desperate. Jamaica needs a revolution because present day politricks are failing the people. God, please hurry!

  • mi a tell yuh...i am hurt by this........its so unfortunate for the ppl who wants to better themselves, but cant do a thing about it....

  • crims an we don't deal with coke only weed so y do black people get in danger like dat

  • whats the song at the start

  • Mi been a Jamaica.(Kingston); Trenchtown and Raetown. And though their is al lot of problems there mi waan share somethingels bout dem places with you: mi never see so much love and hospitality anywhere else! The people dem so nice! Anywhere mi go somebody stan up from him chair fi mi (mi did pregnant dem time de) Mi ga a street dance and mi feel welcome and all a the people dem where so nice!!

So let us not forget da most important ting bout Jam: the beauty of it and the love of its people!!

  • Welcome to Jamrock. Thats how it is in the yard (Jamaica). If you go on vacation there don't go to kingston. I was born in the states but my parents are from waterhouse Jamaica. Its a beautiful island but it hides its ugliness but Im proud of my Jamaican heritage.

  • Gillyb40, I agrees with you 100%. I am from 30 Pensos Street, Jones Town, Kgn12, and I am a product of the ghetto with a positive attitude towards life. Most of the kids my age that I left there are either dead or in prison. Parenting has a lot to with your upbringing. Listen to your parents. My parents never play, they always emphasises "EDUCATION,EDUCATION", and know what it pays off. Dons don't live long. Dons die young or go to prison for a long time. SAn Diego, CA.

  • Yes education is the key.I am appealing to all parents, educate your children. You do not need money to show your child the right way.your children are the future,if all they know is violence then the future of Jamtown will carry on been nothing but violence.

  • The reason why there is so much crime in the ghetto most of the youths are uneducated and have no exposure of the other side of JA.

  • You are right, what they grow up seeing is what they know and belive in. If you grew up with an afluent and well educated family, chances are your going to want to acheive the same, and likewise with a family linving in voilent, poverty struck areas.

  • Very True

  • I never knew that my parents are Jamaica i been there once and i didn't see it to be that bad back then but i know my clothes were stolen off the clothes line wet when we went to visit lol. If any one has more videos on Jamaica to share with me i will appreciate it

    thanks

  • I never knew Jamaica had parts that was so bad

  • Alot of Jamaica is really bad. If you think Los Angeles is bad, this is much worse.

  • ya same americans complain alot for good reason but i see them talk about jamaicans as if they live in some sort of paradise when infact jamaicas capital is about twice as dangerous as L.A

  • Yup! Just like any other developing country or island in the Caribbean. Don't let the sandy beaches, clear blue water, and palm trees fool you. My parents is from yard (Jamaica) and they said they will never go back there. The stories they tell me are crazy real. If you got to JA Montego Bay and Negril are safe to visit. Just don't go to Kingston.

  • My parents are from JA as well and i never heard that many bad stories except from my cousins who were raised there they will tell me how bad it was during the political wars how people were killing each other like it was nothing no remorse for another persons life at all that's crazy I'm sure Kingston is worst then how it was when my parents grew up there

  • yah i thinks that's a big problem with American tourists is they see Jamaica as some glamorous place but what they need to understand is peoples struggle and when they visit they should be aware of peoples struggle. when you visit a country you should atleast try and get a feel for what life is like if safe if not take time to understand. i think its more then just dont go to kingston tho understand why its not safe and incourage people to help do something about it without actually going there.

  • :'( touching vid

  • DUTTY BABYLON!!!

  • i swear i use to go to primarry schoo lwith that girl at the end and she was like the hottest girl in skool but yo big to trench town skool and i come from jungle and no one dont no how we live in that community ontill u go dere and live it for one night cuz trust me its not easy i live in canada and i still have family back dere and every night i have to pray to father god cuz i can get a call and her seh someone for me drop out but when not shot nah fire the place is

  • the girl in 2:00 min really made me sad poor of her :(!!!

  • Corruption is like a cancer and once it has taken root in the system it is nearly impossible to extricate it since everyone is affected and each one in turn practices it just to keep their head above water . The gangsta mentality doesnt help either and all of what I have said is based on the situation in South Africa where murder rape hijacking robbery etc are the highest in the world now . Im proud of our cricket team but not our crime stats. I feel the same as these kids , namely fear .

  • You know how to stop most of this? Get rid of the corruption. The police are as corrupt as the polititions. Then when the corruption is gone, help these people learn how to make money. Dont hand them money, help them LEARN how to sustain themselves.

  • I thought dope smoking mellows people out. What, are Jammies growing aggro weed?

  • The police are probably not "out gunned" in the more salubrious areas of Jamaica!

  • I guess you got tourists areas and then you have, "no go," areas when going to Jamaica. That's sad. Why does Jamaica have to be having such a hard time to not be able to relax and enjoy the weekends instead of warring?

  • Trench Town was mentioned in some Bobby Marley song

  • no woman no cry

  • Trenchtown Rock too!"

  • I wouldn't mind paying to watch this and other full length documentaries off Journeyman's website, but the payment is just too shoddy. I don't feel comfortable. How are they going to handle my CC# when they have to pass it on to some skeptical-looking third party for process?

  • I purchased 1 month and was glued to the website the entire time. I renewed 2 more times before I had enough. Paypal is a hassle but they are legit. Been around a long time with ebay.

  • So you can purchase a package and watch as many films as you want, or do you have to pay for one film at a time?

  • For the love Journeyman! Please upload the whole documentary!!!

  • @LetsDoItForJohnny They'll never do it. Journeyman Pictures are just cheap, greedy businessmen. If it wasn't for the money you wouldn't be seeing these docs. You should just see how they refuse to translate all kinds of vids, not even subtitles. Yet here, some blacks speaking English require subtitles. I see it as being a bit racist at the same time.

  • @LetsDoItForJohnny LetsDoItForJohnny ONE LOVE!

  • ?? SIgns of the ends of times??

  • "Signs of the ends of times?" No, somehow I don't think so. Assuming the bible is real and accurate, it would be a lot worse before the" end times".

  • This is true but let us hope these great wars do not erupt over the current shaping NWO. The end of times could be within our generation. Once they take over as they are seemingly almost complete we might see everything take shape.

  • I reckon the end times would be a lot like resident evil.

  • RAscLaTTTTTTTTT

  • this accent is nice!

  • Unfortunately, until the community - who has allowed these elements to grow and fester - decides that they have had enough and fights back, this will only continue.

No child should have to live or grow up under such conditions.

  • Well said wildpeach! Why should it be left to just the community tho? Jamaica has "law enforcement" but they seem to shy away from the ghetto management that allows this to happen! We have had a similar situation in Moss Side over here. The police came down hard, culprits were given big jail sentences, and now the shootings are almost non existent. Need communication from residents and action by the police to effect change. Community cant do it by themselves. Maybe police over there are corrupt!

  • @wildpeachatl737 Unh huh...how exactly did the community allow this happen?

  • @wildpeachatl737 yeah like in those Death Wish movies with Charles Bronson

  • Thanks for uploding this vid!
