In the director's commentary, they say this really is the two of them working out the details of the song- that's why it feels so real. This movie gets better and better with age.

This movie is absolutely stunning! Only Network is as good a satire of the modern media business and its connection to public opinion and politics; always when I saw a crisis in the media Im thinking of this movie. I also cant understand all this complaining and whining about the cheap mass production of American film industry as this rare jewels are far more than just a compensation for movies like Forest Gump. To be frank: I havent seen a movie like this in European cinema so far.
