It's so strange reliving the past watching this video. I wonder what the major perpetrator is thinking, now that I've revealed the deep and dark secret of my life which he threatened to do himself - "tell the world about the reason you (Bill) have Hep C..." blah blah blah. For your info, Mr. Guilty, interferon cured me but leaves me a nasty disposition for disclosing the truth. My Hep C is no longer a secret, and neither is your hiding from the truth. You know you owe me an f'in' apology!

I would like to know more about that front page story which led to this drive-by shooting. Could you please post a link to the story? I have seen the shooting pics on your site, but would like to read about the initial story and the arrest of the suspect/s

I have nothing online about the drive-by except the one video you saw. Everything else is in archives in my newspaper, other state newspapers and it is also the cover story of Editor & Publisher Magazine (either late 1997 or early 1998). My online presence started in May 2001 or about three years after the incident. I posted the video you saw just this year. Also, thanks for your e-mail. I sent about three response letters.

Also, my newspaper may be on file with the Truth or Consequences Library (microfiche files) and perhaps the New Mexico State Library and/or University of New Mexico Library (not absolutely certain about these two).

Thank you, but it's also very absurd, almost ridiculous, all because of a front page story involving one of the suspects.

My mother, the landlord, walked through that very same building just a half hour before the shooting. Good thing she wasn't there when it happened, but the fact is, she has apartments adjacent to the office and a stray bullet could have hit one of the residents.

We are the same person. The Desert Journal weekly newspaper folded in May 2003 after eight years of operation. I continue to operate my website - desertjournalonline, which I established in May 2001. The drive-by shooting is only one of many incidents that enriched or enhanced my life as the PersecutedEditor. And hopefully I'll get more videos posted to illustrate my point.

I come from a newspaper family...my father owned three small newspapers here in southern Illinois and my mother worked for the Wall Street Journal...but I think the extent of the violence they experienced, was a couple of Pot-Shots from local politicians...lol. My great-grandfather helped establish a paper in Bluffton, Indiana, at the turn of the 1800s/1900s and sold his interest in it for $100 a year or two after it started. I delivered the Wall Street Journal until a year ago when the contracting company I worked for lost its bid to the Albuquerque Journal. My wife and I now deliver NY Times, Financial Times and the Investor Business Daily.
