MMA is in it's next stage of evolution and hate to say it but it's a little too late for Gomi and co. MMA has evolved into something they're not used to. He has also said that Gomi has done waaaay more impressive things then most the people in the UFC (Referring to fighters like Guida, Maynard, etc) and that having the opportunity to fight him was wonderful. He has a lot of respect for Gomi.

Dana White is desperately looking for an Asian superstar in the UFC. Dana knows that their is huge potential in Asia, especially in the area of Japan, Korea and China. Ever since Pride was bought out, it left a huge void to be filled, now that China has opened up, there's unlimited upside for the UFC if it can find an Asian superstar.

@maocapoeira Gomi is a very good boxer, he can stand with anyone toe to toe, the problem with Gomi is that he is average on the ground. He has average wrestling and Shooto skills, but in the UFC you need more than that to be a Champion. Almost all his losses are from submissions, BJ Penn: rear naked choke, Marcus Aurelio: arm triangle choke, Kenny Florian: rear naked choke, Clay Guida: Guillotine choke. If he improves on his ground game, Gomi can be a top contender. Its time for a new coach.
