  • Question: How much "burn time" do you get before you have to add wood?

  • Cozy.

  • i want to go camping like this before i die.

  • I found stove jacks on ebay but where did you buy the end caps for the 8" pipe? Can't seem to find them anywhere.

  • Where did you buy the tent stove jack? It looked heavy duty for sure. Need one for my teepee setup. I suppose you could use one on the roof center hole of a teepee...anyone with any experience there?

  • great video. your stove and chimeny are fantastic. please take a look at my tarp setups. and subscribe

  • I'm trying to get caught up on my video watching...again...LOL. That is a really cool stove and it's got me to thinking of how I can build one...LOL. Thanks for sharing. Take Care :-))

  • Good vid and nice set up. I have a set up similar to that made from canvas. I like your stove pipe set up.

  • How much does the stove and stovepipe weigh?

Do you leave your camp in place on your own property, or, do you pack it in and pack it out?

  • Great budget build! nice one!

  • Great stove idea, thanks Terry.

  • Very nice. Thanks for puttin' that up.

  • here i use to put up my tent all most like yours Find a tree about 1 in. or so round stake out tent from tree 3 feet or so now bend tree down to the front tie it on tree let go now tie the back

  • Really great idea, thanks for sharing.

  • you could use river clay to pack around the stove to retain heat...spiritpipeman

  • One other stove thought: The bottom can sometimes get hot enough to light ground duff on fire, so it may be good to extend the legs a tad to raise the stove up a bit higher. Another option is to cut two rectangular sheets of aluminum or steel and fold each at 90 for supports, and notch to rest the stove in. Another option is to use some sort of welders cloth reflector underneath. Looking forward to more vids on your rig!

  • Great budget build! Couple of suggestions for the stove: Since the chimney exit is on the back of the stove instead of the top, your draw will improve if you tilt the stove up to have the back slightly higher than the front. Outside, if you can add another elbow to get the pipe angle more vertical, this will also improve draw. Outside pipe can be secured with loose wire to an extended ridge pole to stay away from the tent roof. This will reduce smoke in tent when opening the stove door. :o)

  • @Wintertrekker Thanks for the suggestions.

  • @Wintertrekker great suggestions, i will add another rather obvious. to prevent smoke leak, usually the lower pipe goes inside the one above. if u see the first, it is exactly the opposite. i'll weld on the exit one ring that could go inside the tube.

  • Nice job. You'd make a great Hobo.

  • came out great

  • I'm curious about surrounding your stove with river rock. The stones should hold in heat considerably longer then the metal once the fire tapers off.

  • @Mykarmaxspiredaz That is a great idea, but we don't have much rock in our rivers and creeks here.

  • Sweet.

  • looks great Terry!

  • Cool video, thanks for sharing, hope it works well for you. Take care.

  • cool

  • Cool stove, sir! I hope you have fun tinkering with the setup. It looks to have a good draw and burn. Thanks for posting. I look forward to more updates!

  • Great looking shelter. Where did you pick up that tent?

    Nate

  • Neat! I hope it keeps you warm ... send some snow my way please!

  • @phr1sk37 All our snow is gone or I would.

  • Great idea!

  • Nice little stove!

  • Great video !

  • cool setup

  • Looks really nice, do you ever worry about the risk of exhaust fumes leaking from the stove while sleaping?

  • @Sebaring it seems works. Have u try this kind of set up? try it. it would be fun. make syre all your families with you when you are inside of tent . lol

  • @maxinpains No I personally havn't tried it, i use an alcohol burner to cook my food and mostly outside or with the tent door open. I was just curious if there's any risk involved with this kind of setup.

Sorry, didn't get the 'families' part.

  • @Sebaring LOL Just make sure there is a opening to the tent that exchange the inside air in 2min. or so with your set up. if you have a doubt just make full of smoke inside & check how long does it take to clear. if you going to set up stove like that it's better to be rectangle or top side of stove is flat. so you can cook & heat the tent at same time with no waste of fuel. Ive considered Alcohol stove before but I throw out that to the window. it 's for glacier set up & hi mtn situations

  • @Sebaring The stove drafts properly. That is why you need vents in the front. The stove draws in fresh air and the heat rises and takes all of the byproducts out the chimney.

  • @iawoodsman I see, I might have to try this out some day. Thanks for the info.

  • Cool setup

  • Hey, that's a great project and result - really cool!

  • great job great videos what part of iowa? i'm 15 miles from iowa 28 miles from centerville again great job

  • @bobinmissouri I am SW

  • Hey Bud,Is there no end to the ingenuity of the woodsman? I think not, when necessity calls.Out standing use of material at hand and practical use of tin and tent.I'm sure you will have many warm days and nights with this set up.Enjoy and Merry Christmas.

  • Terry that came out nice , Your DIY stove is very ingenious . Looking forward to the reports down the road. I am still saving for my set up

  • Nice setup. But I could never build anything like that cause I stink at welding, So I'm hopefully going to get my stove from Kifaru also. I was originally thinking a paratipi but with these Iowa winters I'm really starting to think a 4 man would be a better go of it. Store more wood inside.

  • @TheSonofthunder7 There are no welds on this stove. Super easy to make.

  • Looks good, nice job... Hope it keeps you warm...

    Peace, Michael

  • Thumbs Up!!

  • Great job brother!!

  • Very cool Terry my friend. Can't wait for the update. God bless. John

  • AWESOME... great stove. cant wait to get mine finished. im making two out of the hellium canisters from those balloon kits. nice canvas tent. ive been wanting one similar for awhile for my dogs and gear. wasnt sure how well the smoke pipe was gonna work but at the end it was really puffing out the smoke. good job nice video.

  • lookin good man.

  • good job bud
