  • so nice. im 16 almost 17 i got a 77 gt150 for 1500 kinda expensive. has a running 1980 evinrude 85, a half cut windshield... kinda just want to take it off, crappy seating, the previous owner instaled a crappy tape radio with computer speakers :( ... umm, it has a leak somewhere. but my gosh its such a fun boat. hopefully i can restore some stuff. gets a lot of head looks too. nice boat yours looks really nice.

  • @vespaT27 Thanks for commenting on my GT. If you saw it now, you would not recognize it. I have completely stripped it. The top section has been separated from the hull and the floor, stringers and transom have been removed. I am undertaking the grinding portion of the restoration now. It is an unpleasant duty, but needs to be done to get to the final result. I am remiss in not posting videos of this restoration, but there are only so many hours in a day! Eventually I will post again.

  • Definately keep the original color scheme

  • i am 11 and i almost bought one of these. then the guy who was selling it told me he still liked it. :(

  • I'd keep it the original color. Boat looks good except for that transom. Is that boat lift completely manual?

  • Thanks for the input on my Glatron GT 150 Hobie. I've got the boat split, the transom out and the stringers removed. Now I just need some warm weather so I can start glassing in the new ones. I'm leaning toward original orange too.

  • Keep it original orange!!

  • Heatbuzz, I'm at exactly the same step. I have put my GT away for the winter since I need warmer weather to complete the fiberglass work. I would like to correspond with you regarding your plans. I'm not happy with the original transom engineering and am curious as to whether you plan on rebuilding per factory specs or if you intend on reengineering what I believe to be a weak design.

  • @Daytriprrr I'm gonna just rebuild the same, but just stronger. I will try to take pics video as i go. Now its time to get the sleds going.

  • I just started a resto project 79 GT-150. I split the deck tore out the transome and floor.

  • What color????

Stock, that's the only way to go!

There is a guy on Ebay that once in awhile that puts up the front Glastron medallion. Kinda pricey though, about 125 bux... The rear Glastron emblems go for about 125 each!

My boat is a bit newer so I went with the 90's Glastron stickers... Cheaper, about 20 bucks a pair.

The cracks on your transom are a little bit scary... The transoms on these boats are very, very weak! That's why they have a 90hp limit. Be sure to fix any weak spots on it.

  • That's what I thought too, but the kids and wife think orange is downright ugly. I kind of like it. I call it "that 70's boat".

Thanks, I'll keep my eye on Ebay for the medallion.

You're right about the transom. It needs a total rebuild. Do you have any experience with Seacast?

  • @Daytriprrr Nope I sure don't... My transom was rebuilt before I bought the boat.

Check out classicglastron(dot)com there a few GT150 that went through a full resto.

There is a guy on here named "Divimon2000" he has a step by step resto of his '79 just do a Google search for GT-150 you'll find some info about these.

  • Thanks for all of the great info. It is really appreciated. I collect cars. Collecting boats is new to me. The GT 150 is art in motion. I just love the lines. I could sit and look at it for an hour and not get bored. Crazy....I know.

  • @Daytriprrr I could stare at mine all day too. I just finished my audio system and the ole lady gives me shit about sitting in the boat, while it's in the garage, jammin the tunes!

My boat stays in the garage, even in the winter and the cars sit out in the snow. I get glares every time it snows and she has to scrape off her car! lol
