@obiwan2112 Klaus died almost 30 years ago, how do you figure that helps his career? oh, you mean all those narrow minded listeners who are storming out to buy his records? doubtful. or maybe you just mean you, personally, had never heard of him before because your life is so narrow? sorry to deflate your ego, but that's not impacting the career of a dead man either
A lot of people won't like it but Rush Limbaugh gave this guy's career a huge boost by using the song as his "gay update" theme. The same is true of Clarence "Frogman" Henry and "Ain't Got No Home." It's still a classic.
to answer your question out of context, where an artist is from is one way of gauging how likely one is to see them in concert or to know of their next album. It's a personal proximity thing for some.
This has got to be the Perfect rendition of what lesley gore's song was suppose to bring out originally. I really got to hand it to Nomi He Really makes it a lot more powerful and intense.
@patrick9648 Back in the 90's Rush Limbaugh used to play Michael Jackson's Beat It for the PeeWee Herman Masturbation Update ( the overdub "it's Me... Billy Baloney!")
I had had his albums and used to listen to him a lot in the 80's and have just found out he is dead. Back before the internet these things could pass you by - amazing really I had no idea he was already dead when I got into his music in 84.
I remember hearing this version about a decade ago; Rush Limbaugh used this version as the bumper music for his Barney Frank Update segment.
For Limbaugh's PeeWee Herman Update segment, Rush used a bastardized version of Michael Jackson's Beat It, with PeeWee shouting something about "Billy Boloney"...
Again, spot the ignorant homophobes in the comment sections. Keep shining bright Americans. You might want to plug your ears, rednecks: the whole world is laughing at you.
Klaus Nomi was an artist who explored image and pop music and was truly unique. If only we had more and more....
@1978Autodidact "Again, spot the ignorant homophobes in the comment sections. Keep shining bright Americans" Klaus had a LOT of fans here as well. The vast majority of us are not like that. But thanks to people like Faux News you don't know these people are NOT the majority.
I approve so much :D Excellent clips. I love the clip at 28 seconds, my favourite clip of him, it's so cute. "Good ev-ening, now you must die" *toy gun* :D Really makes me sad that he wasn't around longer, he could have done incredible things, imagine a collaberation between him and Michael Jackson! The sheer talent would make heads explode! Still, so happy he graced this planet for a few years, he still blew a few minds, mine included!
wow great videothank you for sharing , I loved it, Klaus Nomi, simply amazing, he was an amazing singer and artist, I like his look, very original, love him!.
Rush uses the song "My Boy Lollipop" by Millie Small and the "The Banking Queen" by Paul Shanklin as his Barney Frank Update theme. He uses Klaus as his "Gay Community Update" theme.
i first saw this artist on the 'urgh' a music war' video. what an original approach to everything !!!!!! he is for sure; a visual act!!! thanx for the post!!!!!!!!
The song needs this tempo. The original is too slow and languid to have the right effect. Some woman should cover it in a way that isn't so tongue-in-cheek. That said, this is amusing, and the video is also great fun. RIP Klaus.
Too much talent for the world to handle.

@davidvonbarany Gaga does it because she craves attention. Klaus did it because he was German.

@KevServo Germans do things for attention, too. And they do things to invade Poland and France, but I digress.
