  • What a "depressing" man. Spent too many years at University and not enough time living in a world that is hard, tough and based upon survival. So in a nutshell, the guy has had too much time to think.

He is not an artist but merely a man that never really was forced into a world where he didn't have time to sit down all day and think about useless irrelevant drivel.

  • disgusting barney not to be watched

  • the amount of talent, creativity and imagination that their child is going to have in her little pinky, most people will never achieve in their lifetime.

  • @youllgrowonme i bet the kid becomes a copper or some other goverment dog...

  • @jesusonamotorbike or a quarterback who sings.

  • @youllgrowonme Bjork is a true talent, she is truly unique and completely unto herself whilst being very grounded. Barney on the other hand is a fucking idiot and with him around one can only hope that Bjork's kids don't end up harming themselves due to the depressing imagery bestowed upon them by Barney.

  • @blade004 ... have you SEEN his work though? have you heard about what he was before, and the way he makes his art? depressing imagery? its the most creative, imaginative thing ive ever seen. how can you respect bjork then for being with that man whom you hate?

  • @youllgrowonme We are a product of our environment. Bjork grew up in a somewhat isolated place that had some outside western punk influence to crept into Iceland but her life was that of a simple girl that was grounded in nature and the hard manual workers of her native country. Barney was the product of a child raised in an environment for which the surreal interpretation were all around him through an introduction.

  • @youllgrowonme He simply didn't live and has not lived the life of a person for whom had the influence of a stable disposition so consequently you have those "arty" types for whom have followed his background in reality and in interest directly all believing he is the Messiah of the art world.

If he had of not been introduced to the art scene and been forced to get a real job (i know he modeled) with real people then i highly doubt he would be doing what he is doing.

  • @youllgrowonme To cap it off, there are always sub cultures of every artistic endeavour and you will always get people proclaiming and agreeing that a man like Barney is an artistic genius despite the fact they may not believe so, so that they can fit the fake mold and be accepted as they themselves as "intelligent" for such a proclamation. They will say "you really get it", whilst you look around and what you consider the "common" people inferior. That is "not" what art is.

  • @youllgrowonme And that is somewhat of a silly remark asking "how can you respect Bjork for being with him". I don't "hate" Matthew Barney, i dislike his self absorbed art. That has nothing to do with Bjork as a person nor her own talents but i "do" think he has had a negative influence on here which has affected her music negatively.

  • @youllgrowonme Anyway, sorry for the novel in response... lol. I appreciate your viewpoint :)

  • What's the name of the first party ? (excuse me for my english...) :p

  • Where are from music ?? merci beaucoup !!! :D

  • @lillulia use 'shazam' app or 'soundhound' app on your phone to try and figure it out. i do not know. good luck. :)

  • I thought I loved bjork like I couldn't lose it. She lost it. Fake art shit. She's so aggressive. Hating every place and people whilst stealing their music. Shame

  • Luckiest. Man. In. The. Entire. Universe. EVAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRR.

  • Ii can't believe that some people would say things like 'Bjork is getting older so I don't give a shit about her anymore'. What sort of retarded way of thinking is that??? Anyway... I like to think that many others don't give a shit about time passing because it is simply in the nature of things. I have to say, though, on a different note... I don't know MB's art, I'm not into that world... but he does look quite hot!

  • @sgarpia HERE'S CODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Cremaster Cycle 1 to 5 complete on my channel.

  • will you all quit criticizing artists for discussing/explaining their work/creative processes? it's important to do...we're lucky they do it. it adds alot of insight. What would people have said about Kafka, etc.? Or, would Kafka be as interesting if he had done so? it's a brave move...

  • 0:22 is she pregnant? :O

  • @ILuvBritLouTayTay I believe she was. With her daughter she had with Mathew

  • @liyosan Oh. :) thanks.

  • @ILuvBritLouTayTay in 2002? yes

  • id luv to meet this guy - and cram that camera up his ass- and make a film about that

  • very good looking, incredibly boring though. god.

  • PS. European taxpayers; thanks for paying for this.

  • What a super over-indulged, decadent fool.

Mattew Barney is the lost, gay,(but in the closet, why else marry a pixie), bastard son of Norman Finkelstein, (has anyone else noticed the creepy similarity?) Of course, in this case, the father is far more interesting than the son.

  • The Cremaster Cycle is amazing, but I have to say Barney didn't really impress me explaining his work. Seems like kind of a creepy savant. Still, he landed Bjork as a wife, so there's gotta be something charming about him beyond his spooky films.

  • It is the splendid world. hemneko thanks for having taken stimulation.

  • mathew barney, el más grande video-artista del mundo, autor de Drawing Restraint

(y encima está casado con björk y es el padre de su criatura)

hablando sobre su ciclo "cremaster" -> una obra impresionante

    muy interesante

  • My favorite Matthew Barney quote is "Um,um...um...."

  • @Sactreats My Favorite Matthew Barney quote "You either die a hero or live long enough to see your self become a villian."

  • @i2dermuzik XD u made me laugh so hard

  • @ILuvBritLouTayTay Yay! I'm glad Tay.

  • @i2dermuzik lawl.

  • @i2dermuzik and the guy at 1:30 it's Bruttus XD lol

  • @i2dermuzik lmao totally popeye

  • So lovely at the end!! sh'e so pretty ^^

  • he climbed a ladder with his nuts dangling and the art world went GAGA!!!!

  • I love how Barney just doesn't give a shit about Bjork

  • you have to admit she's getting pretty fat, ugly and weird. i no longer give a shit about bjork either. lol.

  • lol as much as i hate to admit it...yeah. But did you see her in voltaic???

  • She was pregnant with her second child and just to tell you she changed the world with her music, have you?

  • @northwestmike She was pregnant at that time.

  • @dilcofilms He does.

  • the last seconds look like a really cheesy american comedy about to end

I dont know much matthew barney or the movie, but i own the soundtrack album, and it's brilliant... I just wish it would be more easier to get this type of artists' work, instead of my local CD store's crappy 'Top Ten'

  • YAWN BARNEY , YAWN!!!!!!!

  • i think his world is amazing.

  • this is nonseses

  • Sorry but the man is a right pretentious twat!

  • genius meets genius

  • I <3 Matthew Barney.

  • Should it be Matthew Barney with Björk in Italy?? or Matthew Barney in Italy?

    psss..

Anyway, his art is amazing, amazing, amazing.

  • I doubt you'll see them sitting down wasting their time tho.

  • ea! estan chidos los videos de ese wey, muy subejtvos pero chidos, buen videoarte.

  • matthew and bjork rocks!

  • i wonder what he smells like.

  • haha

  • Yeah... art... Something you won't be able to create in that tiny little brain of yours...

And he get's paid for it hahahahaha

  • lol well said

  • God, he is hot.

  • That is so not how I thought Matthew Barney would talk...

  • What's the music at the beginning?

  • That's a song called "Old Arist" by Archive.

  • they both are so hot and clever

  • I view them as the Ono & Lennon of this generation. Just because of how famous their relationship is, and how they collaborate. I just love both of them.

  • U.U is not fare. I want bjorky to hold me...

  • I meant "the crazy fan" of course...the I sneaked into the "dinner gala" and asked her the most stupid question one could say to a pregnant woman....Bjork sorry but I was so nervous! Then I got drunk with the catering and went home!!

  • Damn!!! I wish I were you... I was able to see her in a concert, though... One day I'll meet her, I don't lose hope!!!

  • Dont' bother, she is a rude bitch

  • correction: CRAZY rude bitch.

  • what did you asked her? n.n

  • Is the baby a boy or a girl?

and she smiled and replied "errr...it's a secret!"

  • such a beautiful moment :'D

I imagine myself in that same awkward situation. One of those moments where you can't hold your thoughts together.

  • I'm the tall girl on the right at the very first seconds of the video...It was Florence...a hot day couldn't breathe.I'm actually a huge bjork fan...that day I was so excited but didn't want to act like "the crazy fun" and destroy the atmosphere..the movie was interesting but a bit too long for my taste..

  • i really sympathize with you, heh. i'm a huge bjork fan myself, but really all i'd like to do is get to talk to her in a casual setting, even for just a minute. i really envy you though, i mean at least you got the chance to meet her in person and say something right? i honestly dont think i'm ever gonna get the chance to have my little casual conversation though, i mean i live in Georgia for Christ's sake, shes never gonna come down here. just out of curiosity did she say anything back to you?

  • this guy is wery sexy and charizma..........

  • he rox...wish i had his mindskills..take my hat of to them both!purrfect collaborators!

  • what's the name of the song at the end???

  • Lamb, I cry

  • gaberial by Lamb

  • Boring.

  • This might seem strange but I think Bjork and Thom Yorke would make a perfect match. (and no not because of the rhyming names)

    Anyone else agree?

  • only cause of space ghost....

  • They're actually good friends and have collaborated together. They performed a duet for the movie Dancer in the Dark called "I've Seen It All"

  • Bjork Yorke!

  • he so hot that guy.

  • @greg26742 LOL. Yes, as strange and boring as he seems, he's DEFINITELY HOT.

  • its realy funny how this video, that could just be an interview with barney, is made in this "love-movie" way, like the way barney suppose to look at björk while he talks about his art, haha!

  • i find it weird that many people find his work so humorless. they are so many utterly ridiculous images/concepts in his work that seem intentionally humorous! i'm remembering Cremaster 4 when one of the creatures is attempting to switch tires on the race car but can't use the replacement tire because it has testicles attached to it. i laughed my ass off when i saw that.

    oh well.

he just happens to be really boring when he talks about his art like most artists' interviews i've seen.

  • I agree with you easilyamused

  • Barney, like all people who take themselves so incredibly seriously, is undoubtedly a comic genius. He reminds me so much of so many people i met at art college- but i don't think anyone could dampen bjork's vitality!

  • I know Bjork is getting older, but her personality seems to have lost it vitality, its joy & its spontaneity whenever a recent video of her is posted. Matthew definately has the potential to suck the life out of anyone, although i could be wrong.

  • Maybe you're quite wrong.

  • And maybe i am quite right. I guess we will never know :)

  • you're totally wrong, how older she gets how vitalier she is

    especially now in the volta-time

  • totally

  • Agrrre

  • @blade004 sucking life out seems to be the theme of much of his work, though I am a novice with very little exposure to the avant garde art scene, which, to me, is mainly codeswitch for finding other things for rich people to do with their money besides making contributions that really matter (art TEACHERS, literacy programs, other artistic endeavors)

  • @bintasyllah Well i couldn't have put that better myself, all that you said is 100% spot on :)

  • @bintasyllah i'm with you on that!

  • I love Bjork's music & personality and i always have, but if i ever had to spend one day with Matthew Barney, i would probably end up hanging myself from insane depression. There is a find line between being artistic and creative and being fucked in the head. Barney is the latter.

  • I agree with you, blade004. I think it would take far less than a day for me to hit the suicidal point. He is self-obsessed and humorless. I really do hope he hasn't sucked out all of her vitality. (I've always been a big Bjork fan too.) She's really not that old, after all. Wonder how the fruit of their loins is going to turn out?

  • Way back in the bad ol' 90's, I worked for Matthew Barney in his NYC studio on "Drawing Restraint #7". Don't think he enjoyed explaining his work to anyone then, I doubt he enjoys it now. He's a hands-on artist who likes to make art, not talk about it. Humorless? We did plenty of laughing back then, always fun. One day, he announced, "Who wants a haircut?! He cut my hair a few times-always got compliments when sporting an "M.B." cut - and he'd never trained for it. Fun, generous, brilliant guy.

  • Maybe since the 90's he has changed into "that" humorless guy but back then he wasn't? If he did have a sense of humor (damn i hate the way spell check on this has me spelling words the American way!.. grrrr) he has pretty much lost it now because even when he is not being interviewed you can see in the other footage he is sitting around like a turd in a toilet bowl with about as much life as one.

  • But i am NOT trying to say you are wrong, its just an observation in this video and a huge assumption on my part ;)

  • god i see what you mean - he comes across as taking himself incredibly seriously unlike Bjork with her childlike sense of fun and adventure.

  • Bjork and Matthew barney are peeeerrrfffecccttt for eachother. there seems to be such symbiosis between the two.
