  • n sas aresi an den sas aresi min pigenete stin ellada den sas ipoxreoni kanis..

  • Sad! Greece could be a top tourist destination and its people could enjoy a much higher annual income.

  • Lol! It was during the recent dustmen's strike!!!

  • not bad.. greets from turkey!

  • Disgrace. You should see cyprus. Cyprus is a floating dump. I cringe wondering what the tourists think of us. Is it no wonder they've dubbed Athens the ugly duckling if Europe? Enough people. We should set the example, and it should start at grass root levels. Thanks

  • u have problem mister....i agree with spirosdoukas

  • this is a major social and cultural problem on the islands...when at school programmes are sent from the ministry about recycling and municipalites have not provided bins... and when everyone just throws out what they dont need: cars, fridges, washing machines....well I think the best solution about this is to get all the kids out with paint and just make them look prettier! giving a metaphysical touch to the landscape!

  • Obviously you don't know modern Greek achievements!

Take some time and search the following Greek scientists!

  • dear papas15,

Most of the scientists, philosophers and poets you mention have flourished outside of Greece.

  • Constantin Carathéodory, John Stefanos Paraskevopoulos, Georgios N. Papanikolaou

Michael L Dertouzos, Professor Dimitri Nanopoulos, John Argyris, Cornelius Castoriadis,

  • Would they have achieved the same had they stayed? I really doubt if they would have been able to do any research ... the problem is not the Greeks as individuals but the conditions in the country itself. Gifted with one of the most beautiful landscapes for example, in a few years time, is has almost become ugly due to uncontrolled housing, wrong touristic development model, nature destruction and forest fires, poor waste management and disrespect to the law.

  • Odysseas Elytis, Giorgos Seferis, Sir Alexander Arnold Constantine Issigonis, Antonis Volanis, Thomas (Tom) John Ypsilantis, Nicholas Constantine Metropolis,

    Christos Papadimitriou.

  • As an ex-pat from Aegina living in the U.S., thanks for posting the video. Perhaps the publicity will help shock authorities and citizens into doing something, to stop destroying the unparalleled beauty of our environment. More education, less consumption, greater responsibility and respect for nature -- these are the keys to resolving this problem.

  • thank you for your encouraging words! Unfortunately many things have to change in Greece...as the environmental problems are many

  • A change in education and policy is needed. thank you for posting the video and keep up the good work

  • Dear haris2B, thank you for your encouraging comment. We are trying the best we can to educate the public in Greece...unfortunately, as you maybe saw in the video, parents also need education and change in their mentality

  • This is not just a serious problem in Greece but in many other countries as well more or less. This is a serious problem, and I thank-you for posting it. I remember 25 years ago that this was never the case in Greece. The way we buy products and the way they are packaged contributes to a lot of this.

  • Sure, 25 years ago there was much less garbage around as also less illegal building waste...it is certainly a problem in many developing countries, but Greece is not a developing country. It is developed, so a big part of the problem is the Greek mentality and disrespect for the laws.

  • @ phildrag

It's not exclusive to Greek mentality. Apparently you haven't been to "some" parts in the US.

  • I have been in most of the western states. However I have not lived there to know the problems first hand. I am sure it is a big problem in many part of the world...however Greece taking so much pride on ancient achievements should show a better example to the world.

  • @ phildrag

Ancient achievements are the achievements of the ancients, they are their achievements to take pride in. For the Greeks of today to take pride in the ancient's acheivements is redicules. Today's Greeks must put a serious effort relative to our time to try to equal or surpass the ancients in order to take humbling pride in their own acheivements. But remember no one likes braggers.

My philosophy is think globaly act locally...for the Greeks owe the example to them selves first.

  • Sorry not enough room!!!!! There are actually hundreds of Greek scientists and scholars

    around the world!

  • @ papas15

I am well aware of this. But hundreds is a smal number compared lets say thousands. But as far as breakthroughs and discoveries, number of discoveries, and relative importance to humanity today, are few.

  • The problem is that all Greeks blame everything on politicians. As if the politicians are throwing their garbage in the streets. It is the common Greek citizen who throws garbage in the streets because he or she is too lazy to walk the the nearest garbage can.

  • O my God! There are garbages in Greece!!

    I am shocked!!

  • I was shocked too! thats why I made the video

  • Only gypsies around here are your daughters and your wife, a mongoloid mix at that. And as for a willing anus... your wife's anus puckers like a balloon knot!

  • all with my trophy jewelery box and a bottle of your tears under my pillow!

  • Don't worry your children will pay for your mouth..

  • hey hasn't your family suffered enough?

  • Great, but when was that video taken?

    Thanks
