Did you find any difference in warmth between the BF-2 and BF-3? The reason i'm asking is that i'm using a GR-55/VG-99 setup and i'm looking for ways of "analogifying" the sound.
The difference between the BF-2 and the BF-3 is huge on the one side and marginal on the other.
The huge difference:
Function-wise the BF-3 is a great leap forward! Different modes, stereo functions and much higher values of any value (Rate, Manual, Depth, Resonance) can be used.
The marginal difference:
Sound-wise the BF-3 does not sound as digital as you may suppose. I tested it against the BF-2 with sonically matching settings. I was stunned how similar the BF-3 sounded!
The features of the BF-3 in combination with its very analog-like sound convinced me to sell my BF-2 without lurking doubts.
I love the Gate/Pan mode which can either scramble your sound, even in a tremolo way, or gives you stereo madness. The Ultra mode is great if you like to have more extreme settings. The normal mode comes close to the BF-2's sound, but the modulation is deeper on maximum as well as the feedback is heavier.
There is no song! If any phrase of any demo I make has a bit in common with existing songs, it's coincidence. All these tunes just came out of my head/my hands.
This is THE best BF2 demo I've found on youtube. I will DEFINATELY buy this flanger. It sounds amazing!!!! Also, you think you could do a demo of the Boss SYB3 Bass Synth on guitar?
@wwwPepeMusicDE I understand. I'll just subscribe :D The band Tool has me wanting an SYB3 and a BF2. I have an Ibanez FL9 but it just has way too much gain. It's VERY noisy. I plan on selling it and buying a BF2 :D
I know this thing doesn't have the EHX filter matrix thing, but if I turned the rate straight to 0, could I catch it somewhere in the sweep, or will it keep moving?
No, it's just the equipment as said in the first picture! This is my Fender Stratocaster with its middle pickup and bridge pickup combination. The BF-2 produces a chorus like tone, hence the acoustic-like sound!
Grab a BF-2 at eBay! They come pretty cheap sometimes (about 30 - 40 EUR).
But though I like analog effects, I sold my BF-2 a few months ago and just use my BF-3 now! The digital successor to the BF-2 is great!
I bought the BF-2 last year and wanted to hear if it could achieve "warmer" or "better" sounds than the BF-3, but in the end I couldn't see clear reasons to keep the old model.
Irgendwann... :o)

How would you compare BF2 to BF3...
based on your experience, is BF3 just a BF2 with additional features? or additional crap?
i have BF2 now but im satisfied already, maybe BF3 is just for extra effects not usually useful

If you like subtle flanger, stick with the BF-2.

Thanks a lot! Why do you think that I own an SYB-3? :o)
Yes, I have one (love it!) and I planned to make a demo of it in the next few months. With bass AND guitar.
There are lots of demos that I want do do. But it is very time-extensive and free time is a bit rare in this household. :o|

Listen to the example at 1:45. If rate is set to minimum, the flanger is stuck and doesn't move anymore.
