  • I am so glad they restored the Nomadic but they only did it because of Titanic fame. Now what about the SS United States? The flag ship of our nation should be restored too.

  • The last shot with the man holding up the White Star Line flag in front of the SS Nomadic brought tears to my eyes. :-) God how I wish the RMS Olympic, RMS Titanic, and RMS Britannic were moored next to their baby sister. What a tourist destination that would be, but a least we have the SS Nomadic to cherish. God Bless those responsible for saving her.

  • Here i come back i wanna GO HOME

  • This is simply AMAZING!! The kind of news one would always like to read!

  • Ouch, the music.

  • daddinsmore38 could you tell me the name of the song

  • Comment removed

  • @Andersng1 White Star IS Cunard, they merged in the 30's or 40's I believe

  • @fpernice518 oh, didn't know lol

  • i think that nomadic will be in full service on the 100th anniversery of titanic's maiden voyage but thats what i heard, correct me if im worng

  • you took it that makes me happy need qe2 and queen mary home

  • you took it that makes me happy

  • NOMADIC TEAMS UP WITH HARLAND & WOLFF AGAIN... 100 YEARS ON

The 100 year link between the SS Nomadic and Harland & Wolff has been rekindled. The shipyard made famous for building the Titanic has just been awarded a £2m contract to carry out restoration work on the Nomadic’s superstructure and steelwork almost 100 years after constructing her. Work started on the project on 31st January and is scheduled to be completed by the end of July.

  • @thd75008 dont you mean made infamous for building titanic, harland and wolfs designers helped to sink the titanic, by putting in cheap rivets, the best would not have been ripped out by an iceberg

  • @magnusalexa The rivets where cheap because they used a mixture of to much bad metal

and iron. They would have used steel but the machine that hammered them in the hull was unable to work there. So they had to use iron which they to had thought was not strong enough so the added slag(the workers could not hammer in steel ones cbecause it was to hard) .Which can strengthens or weakens the metal(too much or too little)in this case it of coarse weekend it.

  • i would to sail on this restored ship

  • i wish someone could repair normadic to its original state, right now its in a state

  • this video is quite sad...

  • We need to put it back into service it's the last of the white star line plus she's made of Titanic's steel

  • @ 0:12 looks more like the RMS Majestic.

  • thts not the last white star ship the queen merry was

  • @kaydenbush queen marys is of cunard line, not white star

  • While the Nomadic did service the Titanic on her maiden voyage, the picture at 0.39 is of the Olympic. Look at the Promenade deck below the boat deck and you can see the unenclosed deck running the length of the superstructure.

This design was modified for Titanic and Britannic, but the lead vessel was left as she was.

  • The First Queen Mary are a resturant now.

  • Uhm,at 0:12 -That was RMS Queen Mary. :)

  • @CruiseShipMaster

My guess is that it is QM but its nomadic as the smaller one :)

  • @CruiseShipMaster thats the majestic @ 0:12

  • @CruiseShipMaster Yep, it sure is, but as the video is about the SS NOMADIC, does it matter what ship is in the background?

  • shame there a political battle going on over her!!

  • It is great that Nomadic is back where she belongs hopefully she will be restored to her glory.

  • ok, to clarify, SS Nomadic is currently moored at Barnetts dock having been returned from France back to her native Belfast for full restoration, the cost of which is expected to be £7million, SS Nomadic is the LAST of the White Star Ships & her refit is (hopefully) to be completed by 2011, this has been made possible due to a £2.27m E.U grant.

  • @daddinsmore38 a disgraice to give that much of our money to a frail ship people wont feel safe on, make it a wreck like the rest of its class

  • ..they are fixing the nomadic allready.. its the foundation to preserve nomadic..

  • if i had tonnes of money i would buy, then restore the nomadic because its such a nice ship and it seems such a shame that its just sitting there

  • Where is the Nomadic now? Back in Belfast or in Paris?

  • Picture on 42 seconds is wrong, it was witht he OLYMPIC not the Titanic. But like the video.

  • You're right. The forward section of 1st class promenade is not enclosed.

  • Know the boat ! Worked on it :)
