  • While your characters all look ugly, I do have to say that this is the most fantastic recreation I have ever seen. To see the characters move somewhat fluidly is a way better experience than just relying on what amounts to a glorified slideshow. I would love to see you redo this again to see if you have improved on your techniques at all. If you agree to that, I'll even subscribe to you. Great job man. Great job.

  • Excellent ! Can I mirror this ? I'll link your channel.

  • @Al1981X Sure..

  • Wow how the heck did u figure out what this might have looked like?

  • @rockstermaniac Lots of research!

  • the way u have animated this episode as a whole is fantastic. id love to see episode 4 reconstructed in this fashion for the dvd release when it happens

  • This is AMAZING work! Fantastic job!

  • Very cool!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is brilliantly done. Thank you. This is just as good as "Dreamland". Your cybermen look wonderful. Unfortunately, I think I prefer Anneke Wells in real life!

  • The Cybermen in this story are really creepy and sound really menacing, in every way and it is a shame this particular episode has been lost. I hope an animated version of this episode can be made, for dvd which would be nice in every way.

  • Amazing! they should really release this onto a DVD with the 3 episodes of the tenth planet!

  • It would be good to see what the BBC end up coughing up for the DVD release. My guess is they'll do another "The Invasion" fill in, since the audio still exists.

I'd say try and get in contact with the BBC. They seem to endorse fan-made stuff if it has good quality or hard work put into it.

  • @CplHound Hi there, very kind of you to say. I actually did get in contact with the BBC and have been doing work on their DVD releases post this project. Sadly however, I wouldn't hold my breath for more Invasion style animation.

  • @CplHound That is the obvious choice , that when the Restoration team gather enough money again , they could put it into reconstructiong this story - but a year ago I did hear a story that Rober Mugabi has cans of tape of William Hartnells' stories from 1963-64 , along with a possible chance of The Tenth Planet part 4 - as for Troughtons episodes , I think they need more of the reconstruction , as it seems no one has any remaining episodes anymore.. :/

  • @StealthCrow11 It is a pity that the Troughton era suffered the bigger loss of episodes, since they were usually the good stories

  • @CplHound Yeah , I mean take the Moonbase for example it was an amazing story from the scripts I read online and the photonovels on the classic website. I heard from a source on Youtube that the RestorationTeam arent interested in getting anymore stories animated :O

  • Man the Cybermen used to look CREEPY!!!

  • I am so pissed off that the BBC has parts 1-3 of Tenth Planet but not the fourth, so thanks for this!

  • LOOKS REAL !!!

  • wow, this is really incredible, have u animated any more episodes?

  • @BradKY2010 Afraid not, it's very time consuming!

  • How are the cybermen supposed to have broken in so quickly. The guards have a dozen or so cyber weapons and a mere three were enough to stop the earlier cybermen attack. The guards wouldn't have waited for the generals instructions before they shot the cybermen.

  • This is brilliant!!! So much more pleasant to watch than the still reconstruction. If BBC pulled their finger out and did this themselves they'd make a killing!!

  • @gprice70 Cheers- Glad you like. Watch this space for an update soon!

  • Only criticism is Polly looks like a puppet.

  • @doctorwho2production Yes, sorry about that!

  • I actually find this more enjoyable than just watching stills with the audio

  • @bertster195 Cool- that's the idea!

  • This has a feel of "The Thunderbirds" in the animation, but given this was your first attempt, it was absolutely wonderful. I'd love to see a much smoother version as a final part of this story, so we can have a proper first regeneration story other than clips and stills. Hopefully the BBC will look at things like this and realize "Hey there are people who could reconstruct episodes for us" and we'd have completed video stories to show to people.

  • @jadewarlock Definitely. They already did it for "The Invasion" - there's no reason they can't do the same thing here.

  • I watched the Tenth Planet just last week with the telesnaps & audio for episode 4 and was enjoying it unti then but it became just a little difficult to follow, If ionly I found this animation version sooner because this is awesome and much better to follow!!!

  • @NickyBoje Glad to be of service. I had a lot of trouble figuring out what was going on, And there are a few things in there I messed up/mixed up. But they will be fixed soon!

  • This is better than watching stills from the last episode and listening to audio. I wish they would animate more missing episodes. It worked to great effect with The Invasion. Well done!

  • The regeneration will look cool

  • The amazing thing about this is it is actually watchable.

  • @ma049 Not sure if that's a complement...

  • No it is definately a complement. I have tried to watch these fan reconstructions before. They are usually so wonkoid that you can't actually enjoy the story.

  • @ma049 Cheers. I have trouble watching this, I am in the middle of remaking it, at a much higher quality! :)

  • Nothing special you say? You are far too modest my man. It is brilliant!

  • @graybags34 Cheers, that's very sweet!

  • by doing this you have made a Cyberman fan very, very happy. Thank you and Merry Christmas

  • I am glad you enjoyed this. Merry Christmas!

  • Cool! Can't wait to see the regeneration!

  • So when can we expect Power of the Daleks animated?

  • At this rate, October 2023.

  • @davison4lyf when the BBC is willing to pay for it, when else?

  • Polly's likeness apart, this was a very solid piece of work and the best possible follow-up to the 3 extant episodes. One question. What happened to Haynes in the battle outrside the radiation room? Was he killed as in the novel?

  • Honestly he isn't mentioned in the camera script, and there were two brief lines referring to him that I left in. He wasn't shown in any telesnaps, and I couldn't find the name of the actor playing him. So honestly, to save time and effort of a character not doing anything I cut him!

    Sorry about that!

  • absolutely fantastic!! great to see the missing episode!

  • I'm surpised Cursade never was animated since they got the audio.

  • The audio exists for all 108 missing Dr Who episodes, it comes down to cost of animation.

  • Always coming to down money which gets spent on shows nobody wants to watch yet they can't fix shows people love.

  • well, most people on the planet wont watch doctor who either, though..?

there are more non-fans than fans, remember.

but still, it ought to be able to recouperate the money spent on quality animation... i'm contemplating producing a sequence, to see how much it would cost, with my animation studio - we're not doing anything at the moment anyway...

  • These are all good except Polly's face. I think it's odd.

  • Cheers, yes Female Faces are something of hard thing to do.

  • Please do Power of the Daleks. Thats one of their best stories and the worst story to lose by the BBC

  • Cheers,I am working on it. Animation takes a long time.

  • Polly and Ben could've used a little more work. Other than that, this is bloody brilliant! I hope you're planning on doing more missing episodes.

  • Cheers, hopefully Power of the Daleks is next.. But it's much bigger and longer!

  • hats of to you this beats watching a telesnap recon anyday!

  • ha! Cheers, to be honest I rewatched the recon a few weeks ago, just to keep some perspective on what the original looked like.

  • Very Good!

  • Thanks

  • brilliant

  • Thanks.

  • "Nothing special"-my arse! I never fail to be impressed with this!

I've, also, kept my eye on similar projects going on & all I've ever seen is a lot of pretty pictures, short clips & people congratulating each other while achieving zip!

You have achieved something none of them have ever come close to-giving fans a complete missing episode & completing classic story. This is fantastic!

  • Cheers- it really isn't technically anything special at all. For me it just reminds me of where I started in animation.

I am glad you enjoyed it, hopefully it won't be the last!

    Cheers,

    Aaron

  • This is absoloutely amazing! I have seen a few CGI reconstructions, but never a full episode, this is brilliant, gladly awaiting your next project!

  • Cheers, glad you like. This is the only full episode done ever, so far!

  • Excellent. Never saw the tenth planet, and always wondered how we got to Doctor number two. Keep up the good work. Thanks

  • Glad you enjoyed, there is a BBC Video with the other three existing episodes on it.

  • Superb. Absolutely superb.

  • They were! Cheers!

  • Hartnell's Mannerisms are perfect on this. You've done a brilliant job! You must show this to someone at 2/Entertain

  • To be honest- I already have, as nice as it is- it's just not good enough.

Hopefully my next one will be!

    Aaron

  • Never seen early cybermen episodes. Their speech is creepy-as!

  • Yes, slightly 'sing-song'. You can see the other existing 3 episodes on the BBC Video of the release, it's a nice story.

    Aaron

  • you have done a great job

the cybermen seem much more creepy than their modern counterparts

  • in the next few cyberman stories, their voices change, so that they arent quite so "sing song".

  • This is excellent stuff!! Thanks for sharing!

  • Cheers, glad you like.

  • I'll go on record and say this is work worth of the beeb itself should they ever want to commission a cgi recon of this episode. 5/5 Regards

  • Cheers. Glad your approve.

  • they can easiy reconstuct this

    with cosgrove hall

  • Or FireStep media I would imagine.

  • This is pretty awesome. Mind sharing what package you used to model/animate it? I'm curious.

  • Sure, Modelled in Maya 7, composited in After Effects 6.5, and finally edited in Premiere Pro. Textures from Photoshop CS2, audio put together from the VHS and Audio CD using Audition.

    Cheers.

    Aaron

  • Very impressive. Though Polly could look a bit prettier! ;)

  • Haha! Too True, I should rework her scenes, she seems to be the down point of the whole thing!

    Cheers!

  • HumanHorrorMovie, you can download this with Orbit Downloader (free program.)

  • I would suggest DownloadHelper 3.3, an extension for FireFox, seriously it will save it from your cashe. Much quicker. :D

    CB

  • Excellent work. Tenth Planet is a great story. The animation for 'no budget' is excellent.

  • Cheers, its a nice story.

  • Sorta has an early Gerry Anderson ("Supercar" era) feel to it! :)

  • Haha. It does kind of feel like a character on strings feel to it. I am trying to fix that :D

  • if you did this low budget it makes you wonder what leaps and bounds could be done with even a medium sized budget.

  • Haha- yes. This was done on "No" budget at all. I didn't even have anyone making me cups of tea.

Although watch out for my next animation. :D

  • This is incredible. Great work!

  • Cheers. :D

  • You've done a great job, hope they release The Tenth Planet on DVD with episode 4,done as an animated version.

  • You and me both, we can hope!

  • wicked

  • Anywhere I can Download this? its beyond fantastic for me, have watched it like a hundred times already.

  • the mondas cybermen were the best. FAR better than the cybusmen

  • For a student project which I know you probably had virtually no budget, this is fucking awesome, now because of you we have an idea of how episode four may have looked, well done mate!

  • awesome! brilliant!

  • Glad you enjoyed :)

  • what episode did the cybermen come in?

  • The Cybermen's first story was the Tenth Planet. The End of Ep1, exactly.

    Cheers,

    Colonel Barker.

  • love the cyber-men

  • Cheers.

  • As always, absolutely brilliant work!

  • Aww thanks. PotD will be much better :D
