@haitipi Thank you for the correction, it is much appreciated! As you can tell... I do not speak German. Looking back on the comment I made... I kinda wish I had used another analogy for my handling of the eggs, and at the time I think I realized it was a harsh comparison. Schadenfreude is a very serious thing. But I love that the German language actually has a word for that concept, I just had to throw it in. I do hold a deep respect for the culture, I am %70 German, but I am still ignorant. :3

70% German? I am only about a quarter, the rest is Scottish. But ignorant, No I have to disagree. I don't think you are or are you acting ignorant. You are obviously doing a lot to expand your knowledge and your experiences and willing to put yourself for others to attack or agree with you.

BTW, German is neat because it has a lot of "Compound Nouns" used to describe all kinds of things. Because they are compounded, many people are intimidated by the size.

@haitipi I've got a little Scotch-Irish in me as well! :3 I really would love to learn more German words! I think having Compound-Nouns in one's vocabulary is handy! It would be easier to describe a feeling or other things like that, and I like the simplicity and practicality of the concept! Buuuut... Spanish has been my first priority. I am married to a Dominican, and a lot of his family, including his mother ONLY speak Spanish, and I MUST KNOW WHAT THEY KNOW!

I made one of these last night, using this video as reference. My mother was bitching about the raw eggs and insisted on putting Saran Wrap over the tart before fridging it, giving it an ugly mottled surface, but it was still delicious.

I would assume it's because "Kraut" is actually a dish created either in Germany or in a surrounding country, and that specific dish became associated with the german culter and thus the germans became known as "Kraut's" I recall seeing an episode of "The secret life of..." on the Food Network that was all about Sour Kraut... I think they mentiouned the origins of Kraut... but I didn't research any of this other than recalling little life snippet's in my memories. =D

yeah...they really are... although I think you have to add a touch of gelatin to the actual lime portion of the tart so that it can firm up properly.

The whipped egg white's actually firm up very well, this is because when the lime is added it causes the egg's to go through a "cooking" process. Lime juice being very acidic raises the pH level of the egg whites and cause there to be more free floating hydrogen ions which effect the protein of the egg white. (Which the egg white is mostly protein.) Thus the end result is a very firm tart that you can cut through and let a peice stand with out it melting away.
