So cool to rediscover the unique artistry of Garland Jefferies. He is the most underated talent in rock and roll. All hail the mighty king of NY music.
I have been a fan since New York Skyline, back in the day, the love and care you have for this city and it's character and characters, reminds me of a rock and roll Pete Hamil who so vividly captures NYC in Novels and articles, rock on bro! Your awesome!!!
G does it again! Too bad only his loyal followers will get to hear this since commercial radio refuses to play anything but corporate-supported music.
My first exposer to Garland was his great, no longer available LP, "Rock & Roll Adult" - I've been hooked ever since. This song is right up at the top - can't wait for the new CD!
This is one of the best piece of music Garland never did. And makes me proud to support him since he was releasing Matador. We all know he's not only a fantastic artist and one of the best voice around, but also a sincere and genuine human being still surviving in this bloody business. I wish him all the best and good luck for his brand new album.
It is an absolute shame that Garland Jeffreys has not become a major star but that's the way popular taste runs. This song bodes well for what should be a great album. I've seen Garland live many times and he's a wonderful performer who elevates his already-great music. All the best, Garland!
Fantastic song with perfect imagery from a master storyteller - those "22 stops to the city" have hooked me and I honestly could feel myself on the ferris wheel goin' round and round! Thanks for teasing us fans with this video - I can't wait until the album is released!

Fantastic video. Thanks Schmutzy! Coney Island in the 50s-60s was the best place to grow up and it will ALWAYS remain the same in our mind's eye.

Holy Crap!
I just saw Garland on Letterman's show do a DYNAMIC live performance of this song.
I first saw Garland Jeffreys open for Lou Reed in Memphis, Tennessee at the Orpheum Theater I believe it was... about 115 years ago.
He was awesome then and he's just as awesome now.

Coney will always be crazy! The ghetto has it's own Six Flags! Gentrification met it's match!

Nice. Reminds me of Laurence Ferlinghetti's beat "Coney Island of the Mind" volume from back in the '50's.
