Japanese crowd has changed over years and they are more westernized now, but it was considered to be rude making noise during the concert back then. This concert was in 1987. The audience is just being polite and showing respect for Michael's performance. See how much applause and screaming Michael got as soon as he finished singing. It was just the culture back then, so respect that. I'm just saying.

This concert was in Japan, and although Asian audiences may not be overly demonstrative at concerts, they were (and still are) nevertheless huge and devoted fans of Michael. Witness the mass hysteria and mobs that besieged him everywhere he went in Japan. Michael's talent transcended races, cultures, and nationalities. A singular talent and great humanitarian, at that. We won't see his like again.
