Rest assured, when 2013 rolls around, the 2012 folks will say, "Oops! We miscalculated, the REAL date for the end of the world is 2025...my book about it is being printed as we speak." Remember Y2K? And apparently there was another one in 2003. They swept that one under the rug pretty effectively.
I agree, the world is not about to end in 2012 . I think these trips RE the world ending are about psychological changes. Men (and particularly white men in our society) may feel that their "world" is threatened because there is so much social change indicating that the world of white male dominance is ending (or has already ended). If one has such a realization then the only healthy way to deal with it is to undergo a dramatic change in one's worldview.
I'm not worried about the idea that the world might end in 2012. Rather, I'm hopeful about the prospect of all of us creating a radically new world. That would necessarily involve the transformation (and eith it, the destruction) of our current world.

Imagine the world as we know it being like an experience in a river (river of time) flowing to the sea (ocean of Eternity). The essence of the river (water and flow) doesn't change when it meets the sea. There is great change at the Delta (which means change, or Daleth, which mean door). There is still water and flow, but in the sea/oceaan there is vastness and multidimension flow of water.

I had a trip that the human race would derive all sources of energy from water and live in perfect peace. Machines would have water running through them like oil and electricity.
Me and my friends tripped on salvia on many occasions over the course of a few months and several of the sessions, for me at least, involved the idea of our reality being destroyed/nullified/revoked. The sky ripping open, dull white light shining behind the tear, entities warning us just how tenuous our existence is and how easily it could all disappear. That being said, I never felt threatened by the 2012 doomsday scenario. All the reading I've done on it doesn't support that conclusion.

i think that 2012 will just be the end of the world AS WE KNOW IT, NOT the end of the world. I think that because not only did the myans predict it, but also nostredomes *spelling*. I know that a lot of people think that nostredomes is a phony, but two people, in two different time frames, in two different parts of the world. for me, the both of them coincide too much to think that nothing will happen.
The Mayans didn't predict the end of the world. There is no record of them ever predicting it. People say there's the end because the calendar stops. The calendar stopped because the Mayans ran out of room, and felt they'd planned ahead enough. The end of the world has been predicted thousands of times... by religious NUTS, not scientists.

My opinion on 2012 is that nothing will happen. I don't believe int he supernatural so for the Mayan to have information saying the world would end it would have to be supernatural. The only thing I could think of is something astronomical because they knew all kinds of stuff about space. I just think that 5000 years seemed so long for them. I wouldn't make my calendar all the way to 7000. It seems too far away.

Do you really think you're seeing the future in a trip? I cannot agree with that. Didn't this whole 2012 thing come from the Mayan calendar? The Mayan calendar is all about cycles big and small. 2012 just marks the beginning of a new cycle. Its a pretty efficient way of keeping track of time so you dont have to make bigger and bigger numbers. During my own psilocybin adventures, the only message I got about 2012 was not to worry to enjoy the beauty of the world and a message which was about the combination of technology and nature into a symbiotic relationship.
I don't think the end of the world be caused by man in any scenario. Most theories about Armageddon rely on universal powers causing the destruction of the planet. Meteors, the galactic ecliptic point and the sun itself exploding. I would say the Earth would have little chance against any of these if they eventuated.

Archetype refers to a generic version of a personality.
You could also call it a reality tunnel. We all have/use them. It is a framework to interpret reality with. If you look at an apple with no framework, it just is. Its not even an apple with out the framework of language. If you look at it hungry, its food. If you look at it as a painter, its beauty, etc.

Yes I think that is a possibility. Perhaps what some of us have experienced during altered state induced visions is less a foresight through time ,ie) seeing into the future, but perhaps more a INsight into another level of reality/ another dimension.

As far as 2012 only being perceived as Revelations or Apocalypse by men during trips, I think you may need a bit more data to make a generalization like that.
Well, don't think that the perception of 2012 as Revelation is only related to Disaster and War. It's just one of it's facets and an important one, but there is a lot of other aspects of it.
The Revelations scenario is in itself an archetype and a pretty Universal one, you don't really need to relate it to the Warrior. You seem to be very familiar to McKenna's work, what do you think about his own view on the Singularity of 2012?
I don't think it will be an end of the world scenario but I can see why the Mayans and them would predict this. Their shamans were proably taking Ayahuasca and Mescaline perhaps. Ayahuasca is similar to LSD and can cause end the world trips. They knew a lot about astronomy though...

You haven't done Salvia divinorum yet have you? You're right though, there no need to worry. Imagine the world as we know it being like an experience in a river (river of time) flowing to the sea (ocean of Eternity). The essence of the river (water and flow) doesn't change when it meets the sea. There is great change at the Delta (which means change, or Daleth, which mean door). There is still water and flow, but in the sea/oceaan there is vastness and multidimension flow of water.

Me and my friends tripped on salvia on many occasions over the course of a few months and several of the sessions, for me at least, involved the idea of our reality being destroyed/nullified/revoked. The sky ripping open, dull white light shining behind the tear, entities warning us just how tenuous our existence is and how easily it could all disappear. That being said, I never felt threatened by the 2012 doomsday scenario. All the reading I've done on it doesn't support that conclusion.

NASA has confirmed intense solar storms to take place in late 2012, it will have adverse affects on the earth. Nostradamus, the same prophet who predicted Hitler and the World Trade Center predicted it would end in this century as well, he predicted a meteor. There is currently an asteroid headed towards earth, they've sent probes to push it off course but have failed. The whole end-of-the-world-in-2012 thing is based on the Mayan calendar, in which December 21 (the Winter solstice) of that year is the end of the calendar cycle.
But "end of the cycle" does not equal "end of the world." What happens when one cycle ends is that another cycle begins. That's it. No mile-high tsunami, no meteor storms, no cities sliding into the ocean. Just the beginning of the next cycle.

My opinion on 2012 is that nothing will happen. I don't believe int he supernatural so for the Mayan to have information saying the world would end it would have to be supernatural. The only thing I could think of is something astronomical because they knew all kinds of stuff about space. I just think that 5000 years seemed so long for them. I wouldn't make my calendar all the way to 7000. It seems too far away.

I think that the idea of 2012 can be a bad thing, in a way.
Many people around my age, late teens, 20's, whether they admit it or not, do have some expectation that something big will happen in 2012 which has a negative affect on how they live in the current day. We are distracted and not as grounded in the present moment because we hold out hope for a better future. Hope, like Obamas change, hope for change, same thing..is not always a good thing I think.

Do you really think you're seeing the future in a trip? I cannot agree with that. Any spiritual feelings you may have during a trip are simply an extension/extrapolation of yourself, caused by increased chemical activity going on in your brain from taking the drug. I have had extreme feelings of incite and amazing trips, but because of who I am (A believer in Science/Truth) I was never deceived into thinking I was doing the impossible or connecting with gods.

the idea is if you say something will happen, it will reverse your expectations. it might happen, in fact because nothing is impossible, everything and nothing might happen simultaneously. but it won't happen the way you think it's going to. i think we're going to discover time travel and reach higher dimensions of complexity, but before that happens a lot of people are going to get distracted with all the upheaval that happens before our consciousness shifts to be able to accept this change.

2012 means different things to different people. I do believe in pole shifts however there is very little evidence of a catastrophic event in dec of 2012.

Didn't this whole 2012 thing come from the Mayan calendar? The Mayan calendar is all about cycles big and small. 2012 just marks the beginning of a new cycle. Its a pretty efficient way of keeping track of time so you dont have to make bigger and bigger numbers. During my own psilocybin adventures, the only message I got about 2012 was not to worry to enjoy the beauty of the world and a message which was about the combination of technology and nature into a symbiotic relationship.

I don't think the end of the world be caused by man in any scenario. Most theories about Armageddon rely on universal powers causing the destruction of the planet. Meteors, the galactic ecliptic point and the sun itself exploding. I would say the Earth would have little chance against any of these if they eventuated.
In many of my entheogenic sessions, a great connection between Gaia and man can be felt and i'd be cautious to dismiss an important bond between the two. Is that a Carlin quote btw

Yes I think that is a possibility. Perhaps what some of us have experienced during altered state induced visions is less a foresight through time ,ie) seeing into the future, but perhaps more a INsight into another level of reality/ another dimension.
Personally I do believe in some kind of transmigration of the 'soul' . Call it reincarnation/rebirth whatever. I have always deeply felt this was so intuitively.

The "end of the world" completely misses the point, because that is not what the Mayans predicted.. that is the interpretation of Western people who don't understand, some who are intentionally trying to mislead.
2012/Mayan Calendar is about evolution, not destruction (save maybe for bad mental habits we have!). I forsee a leap in our brains evolution, openning up a new way of being for the human species. Afterall, wouldn't it be naive to assume we are not still evolving, not just physically?

when i found out about 2012 i heard all of these different theories and it scared me but then i would trip and i felt peace and i was calm and very accepting of what the future may hold (i'm a woman) :)
now i do not think 2012 is the end of the world, i think it's the end of an era. i hope it is. i hope we can stop living like computers and get excited for the things that really matter like art, human kind and human spirit

True! It´s the End of the Age - descending from Pisces into the New Age of Aquarius...
However the End is not a certain point, but rather a flowing transition where people will be "sort out" in terms of their karma...
Also many newborn children are so called "Indigo Children" - they are spiritually allready on a high level and have more a sense of "WE" instead of the egocentric "I"... because that´s the message... :)

Apocalypse literally means "lifting of the veil" or "revelation." This world will never end, it will always be changing though. I experienced once on a journey the evolution of man, the constant changes in man, to me were moving towards a more holistic spirituality. We need to evolve our minds, and come to terms with our shadows. I wish the universe could dose everybody at once, what a peaceful place this would be. lol

Well, don't think that the perception of 2012 as Revelation is only related to Disaster and War. It's just one of it's facets and an important one, but there is a lot of other aspects of it.
The Revelations scenario is in itself an archetype and a pretty Universal one, you don't really need to relate it to the Warrior. You seem to be very familiar to McKenna's work, what do you think about his own view on the Singularity of 2012?

I don't think it will be an end of the world scenario but I can see why the Mayans and them would predict this. Their shamans were proably taking Ayahuasca and Mescaline perhaps. Ayahuasca is similar to LSD and can cause end the world trips. They knew a lot about astronomy though...
