  • Society is still basically worshiping sun gods (Christianity, Catholicism, Buddhism, Islam, etc…) and human kings (Presidents, celebrities etc…). Not sure how allowing one with mental illness to bbq himself helps anything. It is not heroic or selfless, it is only sick in every sense as is trying to justify it in any manner.

  • The monk wasn't mentally ill. He just wanted our freedom. Shame on you...

  • @blackpenor Sorry, anyone who lights themselves on fire is mentaly ill. Shame on you.

  • @aaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaa Think what you wish, but one day when the freedom of you and your peoples are taken away, I guarantee you won't be the martyr that frees them from their shackles.

  • The muslim terrorists are as fanatical. The difference is this monk suffers much longer and he hurts nobody but himself. Also, the monk did not carry the belief that after dead he will go to heaven with all sexy sweaty girls, because according to Buddhism, suicide = murdering a living being ( yourself ) = go to hell.

  • @aclock2 The Buddhist concept of heaven and hell is entirely different from that in other religions. Buddhists do not accept that these places are eternal. It is unreasonable to condemn a man to eternal hell for his human weakness but quite reasonable to give him every chance to develop himself. From the Buddhist point of view, those who go to hell can work themselves upward by making use of the merit that they had acquired previously.

  • Is that explosions in the sky in the background I hear?

  • @booyyee

No Its mooncake. Check out there work.

Go see collapse under the empire while your at it.

Maybe some "If this trees could talk" or "this will destroy you"

So much more out there than Explosions in the sky out there... Better stuff to.

  • respect

  • real...just not Thich Quang Duc.

This clip is a scene from an Italian Shockumentary Film. This particular monk's sacrifice should not go unnoticed, but it is not Thich Quang Duc. There are major differences if you compare the original picture to this actual clip.

  • @THEprideofalion yes like the fact its the same thing except from a different angle i have seen malcome brown's picture and it has the same car in it. this is the same monk

  • @MadPuppets1

You're wrong, but this is the internet so I don't care to argue with you. Look up the movie titled "Mondo Cane 2" and see for yourself. This clip was featured in the shockumentary. It is not Thich Quang Duc. There is no video, only photographs.

  • @MadPuppets1

Look up the book "A Death in November: America in Vietnam" by Ellen Hammer and read it. You'll see that self-immolation from monks was a common practice in Vietnam to honor Buddha. After Thich Quang Duc, 5 other Vietnamese monks performed the same self-immolation and they were also members of the Buddhist clergy.

  • @THEprideofalion It's not.. There are two videos of two different monks that burned themselves to death.. There were even more, but no one took any videos

  • fake

  • @diszkoskurva Sorry you feel that way. Are you by chance a 9/11 truther too? Because the evidence is right here in front of you, yet you don't believe it.

  • real or fake?

  • @profssrfunk It's real. Try a google search for Thich Quang Duc.

  • @aegisfate117 thats crazy. thanks

  • courage of the utmost kind.

  • those who are physically strong...it is no match compared to the strength of spirituality.

  • Man i bet that hurt like a fuckin bitch,

  • this shows the pure mentally power of spiritual people.

  • what a fuckin retard

  • gosh , this made me cry ..

How could people let him do this?

  • Any dumb asses that call suicide in general "the coward's way out", watch this and tell me Thich Quang Duc was a coward.

  • my country ...hix .His heart was still alive

  • Buddhism is not a religion. Sometimes a major sacrifice needs to be done in order to catch the attention of the world. This guy is a hero for dying for his people. Our modern life detaches us from our dignity and humanity.

  • plz name of the song??

  • I hate religion so much, yet what this man did for his people touches me and all the heartless people and people with hearts all around us. I want to congratulate him. Every time I watch this video it gets sadder and sadder. The point where I saw the loyalty to a religion. Such devotion. Rest in peace.

  • @sheridenwoodward You don't understand what humanity his, Homo Heidelbergensis Americanis.

  • _T

  • An image that change the world, very powerful and moving. He was doing this for equal rights for his people under the Diem regime. Regardless of who we worship, we should be able to do it without being prosecuted.

  • T_T mother of god T_T ...

  • i respect him. but where is the respect of life, that they practice?

  • How can you accept social suppression

This weak state of mind in our time

    I demand release from hypocrisy

I'd rather die than be held down, forced down

  • @sheridenwoodward Man you are one ignorant fucker.

  • erm...ya..REAL moving...only a self-aggrandizing, pretentious asshole would do something like this...talk about selfish, "oooh look at me making a statement and changing the course of history....oooooh"....meanwhile it didn't change a fucking thing...

  • I don't want to sound insensitive, but he died for your sins, so to speak.

  • I had chills the entire time. That is an amazing display of inner strength. There is something bigger out there, no human can do that alone.

  • One of the most beautiful songs to one of the most beautiful acts commited by humankind

  • om mani padme hum

  • what can someone think about this action.....I wanted to say so many things but I'll only say we are in the wrong direction, as long as we are seperated in different sides. we have to work toghether and let aside our differences and espacially those who cause them. we have to find the strength to ignore them.

and something else, for those who supposed to serve their country like police and army and generally civil servants, there is no excuse in our days of doing something because you "have to".

  • fake

  • @TheOfficialDPRK someone has their head too far up their ass

  • this is a remaked film. Actually he didn't fall but still sitting until the fire was gone. This film is a part of Mondo Cane, a remaked film

  • fake?

  • @ATHFable you are an diot

  • Wow I have no words, is heartwarming to see two policemen in reverence

  • Utmost respect for this man. Powerful display of honor.

  • This man must've really believed in his cause. It's so hard to imagine sitting there while on fire... the pain... the lack of oxygen... he doesn't even flinch!

  • @aaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaa I'd like to see you or a commoner in the street try that.

    He was selfless.

  • Comment removed

  • @aaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaa you are disgusting

  • @jazzercizor: No, the idiot (and those who think he is a hero for doing so) who bbq'ed himself is disgusting

  • @aaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaa His battle is won, if you dont like it, it's ok. But I guess you understand it, right? Cos u r not stupid. So respect what he did

  • @staralfur1983: Respect should never, in any context, be given to an ideaology that promotes human sacrifice.

  • @aaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaa That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If nobody was willing to make sacrifice for the betterment of society we'd still be living in the stone age worshiping sun gods and human kings.

Your anger and argument are misplaced, it seems you don't understand the context of this act or human selflessness. I'm not sure if you're trying to get a rise from people or just thick.

  • is this Thích Quảng Đức or someone alse can some one tell me

  • @brayrrero he is Thích Quảng Đức and it was the only way to find peace in this world full of acres of dusk

  • @ChaplainDMK yeah he did raise his head

  • goddamn beautiful humanity

  • I'm shock, really shock. I had learned about this historical event from school, but watching it is really terrible!!

  • Could have used salt, lawls!

  • The most moving part of this demonstration, that is visible in the vid, is when the police officers bow down in prostration. I can't begin to imagine how powerful witnessing something like that must be.

  • buddism is a hell of a drug

also, mooncake rules. post-rock at it's best

  • Under the light of Budhas shine on, Thich Quang Duc became one of the Budhas !!!

  • maintain the strength of the homeland eternally. I call the venerables, reverends, members of the sangha and the lay Buddhists to organise in solidarity to make sacrifices to protect Buddhism."

As he burned he never moved a muscle, never uttered a sound, his outward composure in sharp contrast to the wailing people around him.

  • He spoke to the world, with a tongue of flame. He was a man who died for peace and he fought for everything he believed in. The Buddhists suffered. Some even died. Yet he held no grudge against the very ones who were persecuting them. In his last letter to the world he spoke to Diem.

"Before closing my eyes and moving towards the vision of the Buddha, I respectfully plead to President Ngo Dinh Diem to take a mind of compassion towards the people of the nation and implement religious equality to

  • that is unbelievable!

i know the video above isnt about Tibet, but the people there struggle too so

    FREE TIBET!

  • Unbelievably powerful. The music was able to bring out the intense beauty that was underling it as an intense surge of emotion crashed in me during a dull & familiar moment in my life. It's even more moving to see that even the guards are also so moved in the end that they decide to pay their own respects right next to the neighboring monks.. reminding me that an individual human being, as ourselves, can reach an incredibly beautiful potential through a work of self-discipline.

  • I find it strange, the difference between those groups who protest and fight against what they perceive as oppression.......

You have the Arabs, Palestinians, muslims and islamists.... who counsel young children, the easily impressed, the dull witted, the isolated and the lonely to commit acts of suicide...acts of horrific mass murder.....whilst the counselors sit quietly in the wings, the quintessential cowards, admiring their handiwork, leering and soaked with the blood of others....

  • so sad that it takes such acts of self sacrifice and courage to awaken todays societies of issues at hand.

  • Great man... Just a great man...

  • This "watch?v=xHipDD9ILZM" just happened in Da Nang, Vietnam. Notice the difference.

  • 2:10

And the guards stare endlessly at the release from worldly pain, captivated by the power of hope when all hope seems faded...

  • I had a chance to visit the place where there are a car in this clip and I was told about this touching story. There's only 1 truth here and it's undeniable: He'll never die. In 80 mils people's hearts of Vietnam. We ADMIRE you! U r GOD.

  • Has this footage ever been telecined in HD?

  • He was god in human body.

  • If you fall down seven times, get up eight. Never surrender to adversity and fear because as shown by this wonderful human being "courage faces fear and thereby masters it".

  • Warrior.

  • when i have this monk concentration, i'll probably try to don't feel nothing while watching this video. =/

  • i read that he didnt make a sound as he burned...it was just silence

  • Buddhism and meditation is the highest and deepest philosophy on earth.

  • So intense, rest in peace the great Thích Quảng Đức

  • Crazy ass monks!

  • the people look ... this is a sick and perverse thing !

  • @Mordadella its not perverse you retard its an incredibly powerful thing and the respect of the people around him not to avert their eyes is incredible

  • @Mordadella its not perverse you retard its an incredibly powerful thing and the respect of the people around him not to avert their eyes is incredible

  • The power of meditation!

  • One of the most moving things about this is at 4:17 you can see two police officers prostrating in reverence.

  • @RazLDNTV Ohhh that made me cry now that you told me about it.

  • may what ever god that exists please bless this mans soul for he is righteous......it makes me so sick that a man is driven to do this :,(

  • sorry and i really hate to say this but the video is fake. i believed it at first and was addict to the video but than when i saw the orginal i could tell it was a fake. if you dont believe me than go to- Vietnam early '60s - notorious FAKE footage of self-immolating monk

  • @chivas74681 Him being burned to death is not fake. This isn't Thích Quảng Đức's footage though it's of another monk who followed his example to protest against the persecution of the buddhists. Also don't believe everything you read, it's pretty obvious this wasn't faked

  • @wizkeyzero This footage is from a documentary/shockumentary in the 60's called "Mondo Cane" and this scene is staged. They are re-enacting Thich Quang Duc's act. There are other real self-immolation vids, but sorry to say to you guys this one is just a staged scene from that documentary. I thought it was real too until I did some research. It still doesn't take away from the fact that Thich Quang Duc is a badass and did a very selfless act for his people.

  • hero......:(

  • Bombtrack!

  • The baddest badass to ever live.

  • I fell peace comming from him.

  • Wrong xxpigsterxx. He was protesting the treatment of monks by the Diem regime. I do still enjoy "Hollywoods movie pictures". Maybe you call em "talkies"?

  • is this the actual video of the event?

  • holy shit. that's fuucking intense...

  • Hey guys, this video is fake, not really fake, but a remake of the real scene, that was a documentary called Mondo Cane, here is the full video, here you can see all the madeup:

    watch?v=3HkUKKxQcVA

  • this soundtrack make the video looks perfect, haters gonna hate

  • for those of you people talking about this, its true and it happen in saigon, he burned himself just to stop the war between the American and the VietCong, you american better learn your history because you guy think hollywood actor are better

  • @xxpigsterxx you disgust me

  • Om mani padme hum

  • Bear in mind however, that this is not the actual footage of Thích Quảng Đức's protest against the Diem regime. It looks like a recreation.

  • rest in peace my friend. May God welcome you home with open arms. Because of your selfless act, the world is a better place . If the world had the same vision as you , harmony would be our best friend.

  • i dont get this part of the description

"The heart of Thích Quảng Đức remained intact and refusing to burn."

can someone explain it to me?

  • @simplegrl321 After his death, they re-cremated him but his heart did not burn or char like the rest of his body. Which is why he was revered as a bodhisattva. A higher or superior Buddhist being.

  • minh da xem video nay o trang web : nghethuatphatgiao

  • There's no evidence at all that his heart remained intact. But people will believe what they want to believe, I guess.

  • @KaimanaC There is, it's placed in the temple which he lived. You could go there and see it.

  • @aclock2 No, there's *A* human heart. Enjoy your delusions.

  • @KaimanaC ???

  • @KaimanaC w/e about the heart. this guy burned himself alive and just took it without movement or sound. if his heart didnt actually "refuse to burn", he still made an incredible self-sacrifice. i dont get why youre trying to downplay what this man was

  • この仏僧は、おまえ(配信者)のアートの為に死んだんじゃない。

  • idiots getting attention

  • I don't care about Sylvester Stallone, Chuck Norris, Arnold Shwartzenegger or any of those people... Thich Quang Duc is stronger than them all.

  • @bleucheesensei name of the song...??

  • @bleucheesensei and he is also burning much better than them all ;-)

  • @bleucheesensei I know he was protesting. But, why did he have to kill himself to make a point?! I hate the Vietnamese War and how people were mistreated on both sides.
