That's the same trick that Led Zep adopted on their last concert (the O2 one...). All the string instruments are tuned down, so for the singer is easier to sing better...and the people don't notice the difference!

Really, Zep did it for O2? As a guitarist I already tune down a half-step for the same reason, but can you imagine how heavy "Whole Lotta Love" would be tuned down a whole-step to D?!
