I ended up here by watching some Shakira videos, and there was a version of this that was edited with a Shakira song. After seeing the judges facial expressions, I looked for the original version just to see how she sang. I was floored! She did a wonderful job! She also did a duet with Elaine Paige and did great on it as well. She seems to be following her dream. =)

@krogoth297 Yes cause there are rehearsals, they choose the candidates before they appear on stage (otherwise the program would never end -_-) so the judges already heard her. In addition to that, the public is allowed to attend the rehearsals, it's not recorded though.

Seriously, she just started singing and everybody was already standing and supporting her. If they actually got surprised by her way of singing it would have taken longer to "react" like if they were thinking "WTF is going on?"
