  • As an american I cannot think of two more influencial and famous Brits then Churchill and thatcher. They make us proud to have brits as our closest allies. Thatcher for President 2012 of the U S of A

  • @colcol21 Hey You, Margaet Thatcher was one of the finest prime minister you country ever had and the whole world knows it.

  • @sgonzalez275 erm...i think the majority of people who lived under Thatcher in the UK would very much disagree strongly! Her obession with "privitisation", introduction of the unfair poll tax, free school milk taken away from school children (Ok i know she hated socialism but i think this took it a bit far) read up on some British Social history, ask anone who had to live through the high intrest rates, high unemployment and then you will see why she is not much loved :)

  • @colcol21 I would very much agree with you, anyway the greatest thing that Margaret Thatcher ever did was to remove school milk! Milk is a deadly poison that takes calcium out of the human body, its meant for cows! Not humans,

  • @Helthfreak12 - are you serious??? milk being a poison....dont be ridiculous! ok....perhaps you could enlighten me by telling me how Margaret Thatcher was a great leader?

  • @colcol21 You know what? I really don’t care! You sound like all the other sheeple that live in the UK, all wear the same clothes, listen to the same music, and believe what the government wont you to believe just like everyone else, watch the news and think it’s the truth, I really don’t care.

  • @colcol21 (Dam! meant disagree)

  • @sgonzalez275. She was controversial. She is a PM people struggle to be objective about. She bought back national pride and made the UK a world power again, but it was at a great social cost. She is an important part of our history and people will be debating the postives and negatives of her premiership for a very long time

  • Great American

  • We will have a massive party in Ireland,Wales and Scotland when thatcher kicks the bucket....She destroyed our mining industry in UK.Ran down the NHS.Ruined the education of many..Let business ride roughshod over workers rights.Sold of the water board and 3 million plus unemployed not to mention the poll tax.....Interest rates of 15% and above.........

  • @coirpeach1 spot on mate....ill be dancing and singing away when she goes! :)

  • A brilliant woman - decent throught to her very core.

On such a parallel from the vile, disgusting hypogritical society that this government has spawned.

  • And here's me thinking they were a pair of cunts!!!!

  • unos terribles hijos de puta los 2

  • I understand that Reagan was popular but... "the best president since Licoln" -/ Get real folks...

I think Christoher Hitchens put it best, Ronald Reagan: the president of laughter and forgetting.

  • I am not sure there will ever be another Reagan/Thatcher combo. The young do not know what they have inherited

  • Me I would love to see Ron Paul/Nigel Farage

  • The Reagan- Thatacher team!!!! Awesome!! Oh, I wish we had them today!

  • Ronnie was a great President. Margaret Thatcher was a brave women who was conservative. Margaret Thatcher realized socialism did not work. Today we got a Socialist in Office in the USA and surrounds himself by crooks or nuts. So much for the kind liberals who seem to love themselves more than america.

  • we have the same problems here. i thot she was ok. but probably done with fighting. ronnie and her were a great team! ty.cleveland usa.

  • we have the same problem here over the pond again! i thot maggie was still aroung. but the fights probably over in her. her and ron were a great political team! thanks. barry. cleveland usa.

  • Ironically this is one of the best speeches of her life.

I find it moving to see Margaret Thatcher who was a very polirizing figure in european history that peaceful, nice and caring.

Her friendship with Ronald Reagan must have been real and far beyond politics.

Reagan and Thatcher were from a different generation of conservatives.

Thank God they weren't like these religous fanatics who call themselves conservative in the USA today.

  • margaret thatcher is a great englishwoman and u should all be proud of her!

  • Most reasonable English people are proud of Margaret Thatcher, at least the ones who are developed enough to see socialism for what it really is - an utterly failed and flawed ideology, and one that she hated, for very good reason. This country of ours is in an awful mess again, caused by thirteen years of socialism. Pity we dont have someone as great as her to rescue us again.

  • so true my friend but i cant see who the hells gonna save us this time :( too many laft wing softies

  • @mixtean, Rescue. LOL

Pal, You can't even factor in that the U.K is composed of more than one country than England and the English. Let alone saving the U.K from "socialism".

The tories systematically destroyed many great aspects of the U.K. When they were in power. The Labour party has been democratically elected time and time again after her, because she ran the country into the ground with her neo-con nonsense. That tells its own story, one that doesn't pander to your rhetoric or patronising.

  • 'Pal' - You have no cogent counter argument to mine so you resort to peurile pedantry. My argument about socialism stands. It is an utterly failed idology. If you want to know what a country looks like after being run into the ground as you put it, look at this one now after 12 years of Labour misrule, a completely discredited and utterly incompetent bunch of champagne socialists who have bled the country dry. Voted in time after time maybe, but for the last time I believe.

  • It wasn't designed to be a counter argument, merely pointing out an interesting tidbit, that for someone as seemingly pretentious as yourself lambasting the government cannot differentiate that the U.K is composed of more than England. It might give credence to your arguments in the future if you can distinguish that U.K and England are not synonymous. It may help to make you less stupid.

When faced with the harsh reality that no-one in their right minds wants the tories (hence vote) you whine.

  • maggie was good too!

  • ronnie was the best! period. end of story.

  • FDR while a great war President was absolutely horrible on economics and more. Read New Deal or Raw Deal see all of what he was, great but wrong on many things.

  • long live regan! god bless thatcher!!

  • Maggie and The Gipper.....two of history's great visionaries......

  • Reagan was the second greatest President, only after Lincoln.

  • Ronnie was clearly the best in my lifetime!

  • One of England's greatest leaders since QE I...

  • How many people know he was ALIVE when she recorded this & it was shown at his funeral mass while she was in the audience.

  • I heard that too - because of her deterioating health. It's a bit weird tbh.

  • The second greatest British woman in the 1980's -- after Diana, Princess of Wales.

  • Agreed. The Queen is a bit of a ledge as well!

  • i love maggie and ronnie.... such a shame they r not in power today.

  • "when Thatcher spoke Reagan listened"

She was the brains and wore the trousers in the relationship. Although he was much lampooned, belittled and mocked as a "simple" man without any depth, he was a very well liked.

Check out my profile for tribute to British

  • Margaret..we need you at Downing Stree n. 10 .

    Maggie..we love you.

  • God Bless You Maggie!

  • For the people who hate Reagan: explain to me why he won 525 out of 535 electoral votes? The only president to surpass him in votes was George Washington. Great men who did unpopular things that made them great

  • God Bless the Reagan Family and God Bless Lady Thatcher. Two of the greatest leaders of the 20th century

  • been called the iron maiden should be taken away frm this women as she is one of the people that made england the way it is today. Well said Mrs Thatcher

All my love Drew xxx (British and proud)

  • lovely words from a lovely lady Thatcher!!

  • The Reagan years were the best years for America and the world. Reagan, Thatcher, Mitterand, Kohl, and Gorbi. We have not had anything since!!! We need this today in this fucked up mess that we are in now!!

  • The Best president America ever had. Thatcher and Reagan the best political partnership the world has ever seen.

    Well said maggie!!!!

  • "His resolve was firm and unyielding." Well said Lady Thatcher.

  • The sheer fact that some nitwits on here are still spewing hatred and vitriol against two leaders who have long since left the world stage demonstrates the smashing success of each. May God continue to bless Ronald Reagan, Magaret Thatcher, and freedom-loving people everywhere!

  • I suspect that the people of Eastern Europe who were freed from the slavery of the Soviet empire would disagree with you.

  • I agree, but I wonder how much role they had. Communism was on the fall either way had it been Reagan or Bush in office at the time.

  • Lady Thatcher and President Reagan represent the height of America's incredible story that took only 200 years to build. The admiration of so many British people toward this incredible man isn't any different than that of tens of millions of American's who saw in Ronald Reagan the very essence of what allowed the United States to become the beacon of the world. The world owes these two a huge amount of gratitude in helping steer us back from the wayward path of the 60s and 70s.

  • Ronald Reagan is the greatest leader we've ever had, and most likely the greatest we'll ever know.

  • Aside the Founding Fathers, Abe Lincoln, and FDR, of course!

  • CharlestonArtist, you are an absolute ignorant jackass. I knew Ronald Reagan, and he was truely the last of the great American patriots. I miss him greatly and earnestly wish that he were only here now to guide America through this utter mess that the Bushs have made. God save Margaret Thatcher as well, for a greater Englishwoman there never was....

  • librarianeric, you must be some kind of left wing, bed-wetting commie fag for you to write such crap. Have you EVER served this country, in the military or otherwise? No, I bet not. You know nothing of diplomacy, military tactics or strategy. Do us all a favor and continue to keep your nose in the library and let us who know how the real world works continue to keep such as you safe and free to voice your liberal and therefore unrealistic opinions...

  • Ooooo! You got me! I'm a "bed wetting commie fag!"

But hey, it takes one to know one.

"Vicster"! Did your boyfriend give you that nickname? Its soooooo cute!

  • Comment removed

  • Charleston Artist obviously has his or her head up her or her ass. Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan stopped the Soviet Union and thus ensured that stupid people like Charleston Artist can still say stupid things in public. God Bless Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher!

  • If Reagan and Thatcher were in power today, the Russians would have never invaded Georgia. They would have known that the hammers of justice and democaracy would have struck them down.

  • Russia have done no wrong, and Thatcher and Reagan would have realised that. Bush and the NeoCons bear no resemblence to Reagan Republicans

  • You're right only in the regard that Reagan and Thatcher would have had Russia cleaned up in a day. Today's Bush and "neocons" as you call them mull it out while paying a too much attention to liberal blather.

  • If they were in power, in the four years earlier the 11/9 and the four next, the problems we´ve seen through would never become so difficult. They´ve done such a great job, they cleaned up the house, we only had to maintain it clear! How incompetent our leaders have been! And how trully spoiled we as public opinion have become!

  • What an excellent speech. Cheers to the Iron Lady and Rest in Peace President Reagan

  • a brilllaint man Ronald Reagan and a great woman in Margaret Thatcher- one of the best leaders our countries have ever had.

  • oh very good

  • Dejó un mundo más libre que el que encontró,

    gracias señora.

  • Maggie and Ronnie practically alone destroyed Communism. They will always be remembered.

  • @Pinnertop they had their roles, but I think you really should give Gorbachev and Kohl a great deal of credit.

  • They chose to strike, she didn't force them

  • Exactley. The miners even killed people who wouldn't strike (the scabs). Disgusting.

  • You're not English, you're a hysteric socialist college student. Its impossible to be both. The moment you decided to start following Marx you stopped being English.

  • Stop selling out on your own country.

  • and to vote liberal is to vote to kill babies, have the government steal money from your neighbor and give to you, to allow illegal immigrants break international laws, screw up the economy, break nature & god's laws by allowing gay marriage, allow a nation's enemies to run free, and more

  • Liberalism is the biggest lie ever. It has taken me many years to understand that fact because I was brought up in an ultra liberal family. Young people are drawn to Liberalism but eventually if they begin to question the uncountable contradictions they begin to realise that an ideology that promotes all sorts of depravity and endorses the murdering of unborn babies is an ideology best left in the gutter.

  • sweet heart your thinking of the scoiclist countries of the east and africa.

  • No I'm thinking of USA DNC. That's what liberals stand for, just put into a way that shows the true evil or idiocy.

  • you are no conervative you are a facist. or a cultural conservative. there is nothing wrong with gay marriage, people dont wake up one morning and think, "oh i'll be gay" thats like saying people wake up and chose top be black...if you think so then there is alot wrong with margaret thatcher becsaue she supported gay rights. your bringing alot of rightist views together ... anyway, thats your opinion.

  • anyway, your views are really cultural conservative, im far more capitalist. here in the UK you would not be able to really voice those views, its far mopre scocially liberal. But are your opinons typical, of atleast a significant minority where you live?

  • I'm capitalist too, that's what liberals are against in the USA at least. A lot of people here are socially conservative but most are more moderate conservatives/liberals. But I'm a pure conservative.

  • but if you were a capitalist then you would not be discriminateing against people for being gay. people that are gay are able to do job as well as all other straight people, but by discriminateing against them you are on occasion not allowing the best person to do the job, same if you discriminate agianst blacks or muslims (howev alot of cultural stuff affects people) its bad for business. that is why it is fairest most natural way to run scioety, is to discriminate on ablility to work.

  • I don't discriminate against gays, but capitalism is an economic view not social anyways. I believe in equal employment, but not affirmative action. I have no problem w/ gays, they disgust me(at least the guys do, and they sin against God (and also in many other religions)but that's their problem that they're going to have to suffer for.

  • affirmative action would never be needed if you had well 'pureist' thatcherist-capitalism/capitalism - race religion sex gender wouldnt matter, people wouldnt be clouded by those asspects of people. so as a scocial policy, not just fiscal, it works. alas, could you also tell me why the GOP are such clinton haters . she seemed to talk more repulican than mccain did some economic issues?

  • It's not needed, not any more. IT used to be more needed but now it's just government forced racism. I'm not a clinton hater, back when she was still in and there were 3 people left I was rooting 4 her so that the (R) would get back in congress. It's probably because she's socialist.

  • haha, ok thanks. who would you like to see as republican vp?

  • I don't know... Mitt, Condi, Jeb Bush, Newt G, Jindal.... I'm not sure. I'm not sure if I'm even going to support McCain yet.

  • Palin

  • Who is Palin?

  • most popular governor in the USA, sarah palin.(r alsaka) shes hot on the anti corruption stuff and has been good with the states finances. but shes from alsaka, which if they dont need help with anywhere... and if clinton is on the vp then her use if halved, becuase of women favouring the democrats.

  • OK, I know who she is now. I hadn't heard of her before a CNN show I just say a few days ago. She seems pretty intelligent and has a bunch of great ideas.

  • I find it so fascinating that the only time that a woman superceded The Queen of England in power over the United Kingdom was when Margaret Thatcher was in political office. Maggie was shrewd, relentless, and agile.

  • I REMBER 435 459 9849 I WILL TELL U

  • How about instead of complaining you go get an education and make yourself qualified and needed by a company that rates alot of money as pay.

  • I agree with you, cwood4ever. You are so right!

Perhaps, however, nedlund meant that government should invest more in education, etc. so that poor people can have more opportunity to get educated so that they can earn more money and stop leeching off the rest of us hardworking people.

I don't agree with nedlund that the government gives money to the "gangsters" on Wall Street. Heck, they worked for that money and THEY give that money to the government through taxes!

  • the way the world works, the left wing people know it

  • left wing people have all the anwers to everything

  • correction: have all the -wrong- answers to everything.

  • NEDLUND (17, ATL):

    > left wing people have all the anwers to everything

I: In their minds, yes--which explains their burning and unwavering passion.

    . . .

  • II: In the real world, no--behold the times when they actually get to hold public office and have the chance to implement their ideas in unadulterated form.

    (i) In America, recall the disaster that was JE Carter.

(ii) Recall also that WJ Clinton was succesful precisely because he shunned IDEOLOGICAL PURITY (and is villified by his own party for it).

(iii) List the American Presidents from the Democratic Party since FDR whom the electorate trusted with a second term.

  • well earthpeople u may say u love being greedy. but the day will come when, only a few will have all the money. and u wont have any at all, long live karl marx

  • she is just a sell out to the transnationals and the rich. and so is reagan who did nothing for the poor

  • I love capitalism,it allows me to live in idle luxury and i can use the dum workers to make me loads of profit.

  • GREETINGSEARTHPEOPLE ('Japan'):

    > capitalism allows me to live in idle luxury

    > and i can use the dum workers to make me

    > loads of profit

Pray tell, on which planet does that version of 'capitalism' actually work for you?

    Here on earth

    1 even those with the capital have to work hard to invest in--or else the same system ensures that it is gone before long;

    . . .

  • 2 workers in every industry in a competitive world have indispensable skills--which makes them anything but dumb, and which would make them shun employers with your attitude.

What bog-standard 'documentary' for simpletons from which Propaganda Archives have you been watching in loops while you 'sit on the toilet, sit on your sofa, sip wine and brush your teeth'.

  • and you think the labor party is for the people? They would rather put government first and people last.

  • Maggie and Reagan were the Heros of the 1980s. They took the battle to the Commies and got them on the ropes. They bombed Libya and secretly shipped Stinger Missiles that beat the Commies in Afghanistan. They were political Giants who protected our freedoms for the commies.

  • I also thought ronald was a better cowboy than john wayne.

  • I also thought ronald was a better cowboy than john wayne.

  • You so right. The children of the free world went to bed with fear for to long. Them the darkness lifted with Ronnie and Maggie. They stood up to the Evil Empier and did what all those imcompident cowerdly leaders never did. The Iron curtain was washed away along with the fear we all felt as kids at night. How many world leaders are known by their nick names?? Never forget them, the way the world is we will need that spirit again soon.

  • Poor Thatcher, she speaks so slow.... She has become old, but she still has the power...

  • Thank you, Lady Thatcher.

  • A very very moving speech of a great lady of a great man.

  • nurse! nurse! she's out of bed again.

  • Quick!

Utilise the free bed to strap down the idiots we have as leaders these days instead!

  • Ronald Reagan and Margareth Thatcher: two great persons and two great chiefs of State...Thank you Ronald and Thank you Maggie

  • Forced to give back Hond Kong? Hong Kong was a lease you nong, learn english a little bit better and come back to me and tell me what happens at the end of a lease.

  • Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher were pillars of an era. Great diplomats. I watch this every time I need inspiration. BUT Reagan was far from a God...... if he would have done even half as much for America as he did for the rest of the world, we would be in great shape right now. Regardless, all the Republicans nowadays invoking his name and skewed legacy WILL NEVER be HALF the man that Ronald Reagan was. A truly great American president.

  • What the hell is the matter with you? Are you going out of your way to display to the world your total lack of class?

You probably weren't even around when president Reagan was in office......just parrot the lines of your freaky friends. Go back to the hole you crawled from........moron.

  • Possibly THE Greatest Lady in the 20th Century, Reagan and Thatcher a duo even the commis couldn't beat!

  • Nurse!!!!

  • My Goodness what a presence.

Needless to say that Lady Margret stands out amongst so many.

    Bravo Iron Lady, Bravo

  • Great woman. Thatcher, America loves you!

  • Thank God these two took on the Commies and beat them!

  • It doesn't even take Gorbachev. If YOU had

1 oil to sell at triple to quadruple the price

2 a fraction of the territory to run

3 a fraction of the weapons arsenal to maintain

you'd be as succesful as Putin.

  • But they didn't "beat them".

    中国共产党万岁万万岁!

  • Our greatest Prime Minister remembers America's greatest President.

  • This is the woman that could be elected president in the U.S.(if it where allowed.)Great Britan is fortunate to have had such a great leader.

  • If you want her you can have her :) I'm sure most Brits would agree :P

  • lol ok

  • yeah those who wished we'd become a socialist country, one which was still the 'sick man of europe' which Thatcher inherited from a hapless Labour Government..she turned this country around and the best bit is Blair and Brown fawn at her feet..they realised eventually she was right after all..still, that must really hurt 'Labour' supporters

  • lol not nice

  • And the Lady, frail at old age, still makes more sense than you or your preferred politicians from whom she saved this country.

  • Bravo!
