I just bought The Solitary Witch the other day from hearing that it's good for having a bit of everything (this will also be my first time reading a Silver Ravenwolf book). I got it home and opened it and was just like hooooly crap. A lot of information to sort through!
@geminyo While some believe Ravenwolf is a joke and all i do not mind her stuff the information is not really any different between what other authors write and she makes it easy for beginners. I personally dont like gardner books the same as i dont like buckland as they only teach their paths and dont really follow that everyone can make their own paths.

dont take ravenwolfs claims about history on faith im not wiccan but wiccans like to go over it with me and the history is just wrong in most of the books
oh most the wiccans on ive run into lately dont seem to question the ancient religion bs and honestly making up history is just something that bugs me
I don't question the old religion i just know that any information over time changes and gets lost therefore what we call the old religion may not really be exactly what they practiced
no it isnt exactly what they practiced but we have a decent idea and we do know enough to rule out that it was wicca and some wiccans either just dont want to argue with the history wiccan authors like to spew out or really dont know any better and honestly id kind of like to know which side your taking
I agree that some people do not question things and find things out for themselves. i practice more of new age wicca however i draw from celtic ways that have been passed down. but i only use what feels right to me and not what others say i must do and feel.

I think Silver Ravenwolf is not the best choice. :/ She makes a fluffy funny faith from the Craft.
Scott Cunningham is really good! As a pagan witch, not a wiccan, i use his books too.
The Encyclopedia looks really good, but too we don't have a Hungarian translation and the shipping is too expensive. :/
