  • fantastic. echo the previous comments about your teaching style restolad. you're a natural. I'me very much a beginner, scouring the web for info I can use on my project at home. I've learned the most from your series (and pimpmykombi) I reckon.

  • amateur repair. You keep talking about millimeters as opposed to fractions of a millimeter. Good repair for a car worth $ 200.00 not for a car worth 10,000 or more. Can I suggest that you use 1mm grinding discs instead of 3. Makes it a better cleaner, closer cut and you need to file your patch when welded, and not just grind it.

  • Cheers buddy nicely done...

  • Good vid!

  • @restolad

Not sure if your "civics creamer" (as opposed to "civic screamer" piss take was intentional or not restolad, either way it cracked me up!

Great vids man, really enjoy your work and hearing a kiwi accent for a change on youtube. I have picked up some great tips over the course of your videos. Keep up the good work!

  • you are the boy restolad;-) im at college just now and its good to see someone carrying out repairs in a very similar way to which im being taught. i use your vids as a great reference tool and you've even been approved by my tutor. keep up the good work

  • @civicscreamer Great feed back thanks, tell your tutor restolad sez Hi there !

  • Hey Restolad, what was that tool at 4:30?

  • Just one more other question! I forgot to mention it in the previous post!

You made sure to use a rust inhibitor, before putting the patch on, however, you forgot to mention how we could prevent future rust on the inside on the welding area. What kind of protection should we use there?

  • Damn Restolad, i was really hoping you would weld the panel in this time! I'm really hoping to learn how to properly weld a panel flush into the rest of the bodywork. But again, this has been very useful seeing you work. Hope you got more videos like this on the way!

  • always good videos mate :) taranaki hardcore represent

  • hey restolad. just curious as to why you would cut out a larger portion if it was a full resto? didn't you cut out all the rust? so why couldn't you just use that exact same technique on a full resto job? also, why didn't you weld the patch flush with the original sill? is that because its just easier or is there another reason for that? sorry if i sound stupid but ive seen quite a few vids where the original panel was ground down until the patch fit snugly into the panel so im kinda confused...

  • @puntylicious This is the modern way of rust repairs. Quick, easy and cost efficient. And that's how the customer would have wanted it to be. If it were a full resto where original fit would have been desired it would have been done the full resto way -no cost or time spared

  • Im trying to learn as much as I can about this sort of repair as its closest to what Im trying to do. I want to shave the door handles off my truck for that smooth look. But Im just wondering why you put the patch over top of the panel and how you got it to sink in so its all flush?

  • Thanks for the video. Very helpful.

  • Nice Job ! You are a great Teacher and hope to see more videos soon.

  • Great video. Nice to see you in the mix again.

  • You are a great teacher! Thanks. Hope the weather down their is good this December. Peace!

  • Great work. Thanks for the rounding tip. I've always had troubles on sharp corners.

  • Rounding the corners is a good idea. How about painting the inside of the patch? Wont the bare metal will quickly rust?

  • Thank you!!

  • Like watching you mig weld the sheet metal. Is that usually how you leave the panel, and just apply filler over it? Or do you grind it flat?

  • Thanks mate! I needed this one

  • Another spot on vid, cheers for the upload.
