@vlmmosto The problem with Dave Mustaine during his Metallica career was that he focused too much on speed and didn't put much effort into melodies (there are exceptions, though, like The Call of Ktulu).

Dave is technically talented and can play very fast and everything, but that doesn't really mean much if the solos have no melody.

Hit The Lights is a good example of this - Dave's ending solo is mostly random notes at super-speed while Kirk's solo has much more structure and melody.

These actually are James' vocals. He used to sing like this, but then he tried the crunchy scream and everyone liked that better, and james said he actually was more comfortable screaming like that.

Proof of this is in interviews. And also in the live Lineup back then. Cliff/Ron bass, Lars drum, james vocals, dave guitar.
