  • what happened to the passengers? did they survive?

  • @DanMan91693 Unfortunately Not... tragically the rest of birds flew down to the crash site, bit them all to death and ate them...

  • Seriously... how can you not heard about that extraordinary water ditch? The Hudson Miracle... perfect crew work, all survived! ;)

  • Movie Title: Airbus turns Airboat

  • This is ATC radio, not the cockpit audio... (I don't think they've released that, unfortunately)

  • THATS A FAKE!!!

WHY THIS STUPID NOT HAVE PANIC????

    FAKE FAKE FAKE!!!!

  • @jogy1990 And what is fake? The recording? Sorry, that is real.

  • PLEASE DEAR GOD!! THIS IS NOT A COCKPIT AUDIO TAPE AT ALL! THIS IS THE ATC TAPE AND TAPE OF ATC LAND LINE CALLS TO OTHER ATC FACILITIES. A COCKPIT RECORDING WOULD BE THE RECORDING OF SULLY AND HIS F.O.'S VOICES AS THEY HANDLED THE EMERGENY IN THE COCKPIT. THE ONLY TIME WE HEAR SULLY HERE IS WHEN HE IS TRANSMITTING. THIS IS NOT A COCKPIT RECORDING. PLEASE CHANGE THE TITLE.

this statement applies to about 50 other fucking identical videos to this

  • the captain of that plane is no joke ,real hero

  • nahh im landing this in the hudson.. Now that is a pilot right there!!! kept his calm and everyone came out alive!!

  • Anyone notice the 1st officer said "Cactus 1539," and then the ATC calls it "Cactus 1529." Which flight is it? 1529, 1539 or 1549?

  • @RockinToke 1539

  • Amazing how calm the pilot is!

  • @u1s1m1c Yup. During and after. That's what makes the incident a success. The training and experience and confidence feed everything. With little time to make crucial decisions, there is not room for panic. As he said himself, Sully's entire career was developed for this one day, this one flight. And some angel put him on the flight. (that last piece is me, saying that, lol!).

  • fuck this video...is that x-plane audio I hear?

  • Should of let it sink, good home for the fish.

  • That's how I sound ordering a happy meal at a drive through, not putting a jet in the drink.

  • "You know what a hero would have done? Not hit the birds in the first place. That's what I do every day." -Matt Damon as "Carol" on 30 Rock ;)

  • They didn't land correctly

  • Comment removed

  • they said 1529 you said 1549

  • I love how Sully is calm the whole time and it's the air traffic controllers who are freaking out.

  • Good Landing, Good Captain and Co Pilot, Good Ground Support and Good Ending!

  • What happened to the aircraft after the crash? Was it removed?

  • @TamsynJOLLY That's a good point? Perhaps it sank?

  • The best part is his attitude towards the end..."Nah bitch, we're going in the river."

Then you have the opposite of calm, with Mr. "OH MY GOD!!! AHHHHH!!!! GET EVERY HELICOPTER EVER MADE RIGHT NOW!"

Finally, it's all summed up by genius guy."I think something may have happened here."

  • @Us2Mohrs

Well, it's the pilots' jobs to remain calm and follow procedure and its control's job to get things done, that is absolutely any assistance for a priority handling. The priority of the crew is now to evacuate the aircraft and not diddle with the radios which may have even been damaged anyway. Therefore, there is no way of tower knowing what the condition of the craft is until they have an eye in the sky or a first hand witness has called emergency services.

  • i fucken love is professionalism u....BUT U NOW THAT THEY SAY WHEN UR IN AN EMERGENCE IN AN AIRPLANE "JUST FLY THE PLANE"

  • it sounds like cactus 1529 :s

  • @emilyxellis CACTUS is the old callsign for America West (now U.S. Airways)...probably because the company is based out of Arizona.

  • @emilyxellis Said that for a while before using the correct 1549.

  • This pilot is amazing!!!

  • This video is mis-labled and is just the same audio thats been copied a million times, this is the Air traffic control recording, NOT the Cockpit recording, You would be able to hear everything the pilots were saying in the cockpit recording, not just when he hits the transmit button to talk to atc.

  • 11 birds disliked this..

  • @Life4MoldeFK

One person made a funny "thumbs up this" about this video

  • @aolyahoo :)

  • @Life4MoldeFK 11 birds like you comment

  • We get to Hudson! :))) Yeeeha!

  • bath time for this plane

  • Damn ! Thats one calm, collected pilot. Faced with a catastrophic in flight failure he didn't panic he made his choice from then on he knew what he had to do to save lives and he did it! Its utterly unbelievable that McDonalds managers makes more then he does.

  • The note about the call sign mix up -- it was not an error - -America West and USAir merged - -Cactus was for America West Bird..

  • "Any landing you can walk away from..."

Great job, Sully and crew. The Right Stuff.

  • Love the matter of fact "We're gonna be in the Hudson." Like saying "I'm going to get the mail" or "we need more eggs." Wow.

  • @immikeurnot PBS has a good special with more audio. When Sully said "We're going to be in the Hudson", the AT Controller said "come again", and then the pilot of another plane picking up the frequency cuts in and says to the Tower "... I think he's saying he's going to ditch in the Hudson River". The full thing is quite spell-binding. It is mind-boggling how calm Sully is throughout. Humble almost to a fault. Compare to NFL wide receivers who have to prance about and taunt others when scoring.

  • A perfect crash landing from a great pilot, he saved many lives, he's a hero!

But what did they do to the plane, let it sink?

If it did, that'll be 1 hell of an intact underwater plane wreck.

  • were gonna be in the....~oh snap~

    1:20

  • Did that pilot go into 'professional' mode or what? Putting all his own fears aside his entire being focussed on getting that plane down in one peice. The cold emotion in his voice as he dismissed options given him said it all.

But he would be the first one to admit that he was also very lucky. The winds were favourable and the river was clear of bridges and shipping. When he touched down the engine being ripped off could easily have caused the aircraft to breakup and rapidly sink killing all.

  • @tpsossff

I'm not an aviation expert, but I heard that engines are mounted in pylons with "fuse pins", and when forces (like strong vibrations in a badly damaged engine, which can compromise the integrity of the wing) exceed certain thresholds, simply it's better that the engine is ripped off to save the wing.

  • @glsole

I have not heard of that. The engines are indeed held with a couple of pins but they are a high precision component made for strength. I know of two crashes where these have broken (Chigago and Amsterdam) and in both cases the engine flipped fprward and up over the frot of the wing causing massive damage to the leading control surfaces. The Chicago plane flipped over on its back just after lift off. The other plane, a 747 stayed up for a short while and crashed into a block of flats.

  • @glsole

I beleive the investigation into the Amsterdam 747 crash determined that the pin was a component that failed X ray tests after manufacture and was stolen before it was destroyed and sold on. False paperwork allowed it to enter the spares market. (A growing problem in aviation)

In the event of serious vibration sensors will simply warn the pilot and shut down the engine.

  • @tpsossff

Premise: In two years, I just have seen divulgative programs like "air crash investigation" or "seconds from disaster", and the wikipedia pages describing each accident. About the schipol accident, it's well described how the fuse pins acts. Ok, in that case the pins were defective, but the leading edge surface badly damaged is IMHO much better than a structural failure wich can cause the complete loss of the wing, without considering that the main problem was instead the (continue).

  • @tpsossff

.. loss of hydraulic control of surfaces like slats, flaps, ailerons, etc., combined with the unawareness of the crew about this.

About a badly damaged engine wich generate strong vibrations, ok, you can shutdown it. But it's non always possible: consider the last accident involving an a380 equipped with RR trent 800 engines, the failure of the inner engine caused the complete loss of the control of the outer engine. So better to loose an engine than to loose a wing.

  • I can't imagine the stress but I see humor in the matter of fact statement. "We're going in the Hudson". Like it's just another runway choice. That is the decision making that saved lives.

  • In aviation, the bottom line, is that the single most important piece of safety equipment, is an experienced, well trained pilot.

  • @CaptianSullyFan I completely agree. ATC did a good job, but Captain Sully is the real hero here. Even if Sully would have lost all communication with ATC, he still would have landed the plane in the water the same way, and the end result would have been the same. Outstanding piloting from an outstanding man. Every young kid should look at this guy as a shining example of how to live your life, how to talk, how to act, etc. What a great example of being a great person.

  • Is that fellow indecisive? A plane in the water and he says MAY BE an incident?? May be? Oh yes, we throw planes at buildings and in the water every Wednesday and Saturday. This seems routine! Silly fellow.

  • @hsxtcqm

At some point after the pilot committed to the river landing he stopped conversation with ATC. The controller was no longer aware of the planes situation and had to assume the plane was still flying as if it had recovered some engine power. His handling of the event was highly commended at the inquiry ..... alerting the emergergency services while still transmitting options to the pilot. He had no way of knowing for sure the plane was in the water.

  • @tpsossff Thank you for taking time to reply. Yes, I see your logic and stand corrected. I do regard the ATCs as the unsung heroes of aviation specially after I read Arthur Hailey's, "Airport". Sorry for I wasn't able to see your reply earlier. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Take care and God Bless... Aashish

  • @hsxtcqm

And a very happy Christmas to you too. Unfortunately here in Europe airliners have been having some very different problems with the snow just lately.

    Best wishes, Peter

  • OMG i just cant belive that the pilot landed that! he is amazing! i am so happy for all those people on the plane and the pilot! :)

  • IS it just me or are these guys ON IT!? Sheesh....I love New Yorkers for this reason..they know how to get it done.

  • @NurEineStimme It IS a recording of communications between ATC and the aircraft, plus communications between different ATC centres.

About you NurEineStimme, you DO sound like a disturbed person, your incipit towards me has been "Shut up", just because you didn't like what I wrote.

And this is a teacher...? Poor future generations...

Finally I apologise for my English, but I can't get that deep into correct sentence forming, as I'm foreign to English itself, being Italian...

  • "Celebrity - Someone who is celebrated."

THIS man should be celebrated, not Kim Kardashian.

  • @NurEineStimme I work with this (ATC), I'm used to do things as they really are, not as I mean it...

  • This is incredible. What an amazing calmness from the pilot. He absolutely knew what he was doing. To say "We may end up in the Hudson" What pilot could conceivably land in the hudson or even suggest landing in the water in a commercial airplane??? Knowing death is immenent. He knew what he was doing. God, I love this guy, Sullenberger

  • Not a cockpit voice recording

  • do we know who the guy is talking to sully

  • This is not the cockpit recording! Why do you mislabel this? This is the tower recording, not the cockpit recording, the pilots are saying a lot that we are not hearing.

  • Great pilot, kool controllers

  • Rename the video, this is ATC not CVR

  • fish terrorists

  • Haha...love it at the end, "Looks like there may be an incident here."

No, don't worry...just a plane in the river. Nothing serious. :)

  • @Theoryofknowledge01 Very good observation. Is that fellow indecisive? A plane in the water and he says MAY BE an incident?? May be? Oh yes, we throw planes at buildings and in the water every Wednesday and Saturday. This seems routine! Silly fellow.

  • Because Cactus is the callsign for US Airways.

  • Have they changed it's flight number because it's clear on the atc that he is flight 1529 not 1549 like at 0:20

  • he said 1529 by misstake, happens all the time and they have a pretty clear system to solve it anyway.-

  • @Ben123planes yeah, that happened. That was there only mistake

  • @Ben123planes in the beginning, the guy says 1539. so i guess its 3 planes. weird lol

  • You are an ezample for all of us... thank you

  • they have to be calm to land in the hudson and that was heroic my dad works with HIM!!

  • the pilot kept pretty cool under pressure - amazing

  • I don't care how much training ya give a guy to be able to coordinate what I call a "Perfect" crash landing in such a calm proffessional way is remarkable. The pilot deserves to be called HERO, and that is not a term I throw around loosely. Air traffic were excellent. Despite the call sign mix up to be able to offer so many other options and prepare other airports like that shows just how much your US tax dollars are worth.

  • huh? why would he not be called a hero? he saved the lives or 155 people

  • Ah yea, I have the same question on the problems with the flight call #'s. Ok, I get that the guy working the radio is scared so I give him one for calling the flight 1539 instead of 1549, but the ATC who has his flight # on his display keeps calling the flight 1529. I mean, what kind of morons are running ATC? And yes, it does make a difference as to what call numbers he uses because it helps coordinate rescue operations. Wow.

  • That and both ATC's we hear are def.

  • at 0:53 he says IDIOT

  • yes he did

  • Not cockpit.

    ATC

  • Yep. I hope they do release the CVR tapes, I really do wonder what the flight crew were talking about. Pilot is on 60 minutes tonight I believe.

  • What do you mean?

  • haha "cant do it... were gonna be in the hudson"

  • He is till the best pilot Ive ever seen when it comes to COOL HEADED!!!! I think he was great! good audio, just mixed up on the flight number.

  • What flight number are they confused about??? EVEN perfect SULLY called his flight number 1539, are traffic control called it 1529, several times, then 1549 Cactus 1539,1539,1549?????

  • This is what happens when everyone does their job right. There are some good lines though:

"Two tango alpha it looks like this, ahh, may be an incident."

  • good job !! "I do dead stick in my videos

  • this is not cockpit audio... its ATC

  • cockpit and atc!!!

  • Captain is amazingly calm.

  • As clear as it can be!

  • Hail to the pilot, but hail to the controllers as well! Hail to all the rescuers!

  • Yeah amazing job, very calm and collected. He was completely clear on his objective, and his responses using clear cut responses, no time to panic and spout nonsense. Kudos to you good sir.

  • Well of course he's going to be very calm and collected, the guy use to fly F-4's in the miltary. All he had to do was land a plain in a river, it's not like anyones shotting at him while he's doing... Don't take that comment as knocking him, he did an awesome job. It's just with his experience, I'd expect an awesome job from him. You cut the best part of the clip tho, where someone says "I believe he said he's landing in the Hudson" to the airtraffic controller who was trying to direct him.

  • I have a question for you since you say it was an easy task for this pilot. There was an FA-18 hornet that crashed in a populated area here in San Diego Ca a few weeks back and killed a family, now since you are comparing a light maneuverable plane to a huge airliner....how was the captain of this plane able to maneuver away from disaster and the pilot of the FA-18 hornet not able to make better judgement? So again I say....Damn great job in laying this big Bus gently into the Hudson!

  • this dude has balls of lead!!! i wish i was on that plane!!

  • I heard that they are tungsten carbide.

  • Wow....this brings a chill and goose bumps all over when I hear this! Very calm and collected pilot! Awesome job by all!!

  • god bless this crew...this is what happen when professionals do their job.

  • Wow! I'm requesting this guy on my next us air flight:)

  • Ya know....my hat is off to the pilot of this flight. He showed an amazing sense of calm and control. I can only hope that those who fly me possess the same qualities.
