Let's not play the color game, and certainly no need for a trite albeit low-hanging "Johnson" joke. The guy is great. He got into a great school. Why is everything about color. Geez. Can't we just enjoy the game and enjoy the fact that this great athlete is not only going to play some good ball (probably become a STAR) but will also get a great education. Really America...let's get it together. Just enjoy it.
Looks like he has good acceleration and great vision and footwork, but I think he lacks size, especially to help in ND's passing game. I also don't think he can grind out the tough yards, but I think him, Cierre Woods, and Robert Hughes could be a moster three heading running back committee. A great pick up by ND and an overall great recruiting class
@texansfan898 Robert Hughes graduated. I'm going to assume Cam will play running back for the Irish this year because of the lack of depth, but in the future, I think Cam will make a great slot receiver. This kid would be great for running screens and underneath routes. He sets up his blocks perfectly down the field. If anything this kid will turn into a jack of all trades. He will see most of his time returning punts this year I have a feeling.
This kid was way underrated he was embarrassing these kids and if you can do that against TEXAS 5A public schools you should be a top recruit! Glad to see he's still going d-1 he's an incredible athlete
@chargerfootball035 he doesnt have 5 star speed though- he starts to lose it towards the end, you can see it when he starts to pump his arms and head harder but he's got nice footwork
Sure he looks small, but he's 5'11'' 195. There are plenty of 195 lb running backs in college that can pick up the blitz and be tough. Not to mention he can easily put on 10 - 15 lbs by the 2012 season (which is when he'll likely see some playing time). Besides, if Brian Kelly can get Cierre Wood to pick up a pass rusher then he'll have no problem making it work with Cam.
He knows exactly when and where to cut. I don' think his size is going to be an issue. He is going to be a great fit in Kelly's system. GO IRISH!!!!!!!!!!!
Speedy, but a bit undersized. Don't think he will be able to pick up a D-lineman on a block in the backfield unless he puts on serious weight. But should be exciting in the return game or if they decide to put him at slot receiver
Stanford is a dead program now...Notre Dame is on the rise again. Notre Dame has pretty good academics (top 20 schools in country and #1 business school) and arguably the best atmosphere of any college. Notre Dame is special because they never force their catholic heritage on anybody (partaking is completely opitional) but most students find that the catholic aspect creates a support network that is unrivaled.
Sooooo yeah...I don't know why people bash kids for going to notre dame.
He’s going to regret passing up Stanford for Notre Dame, where he wont get much time at RB. Stanford doesn’t care what color your skin is, they play the best player at the position. And for all the knuckle heads below, going to the outside isnt a bad thing when you have speed. This guy is a beast, and plays top level competition in Texas. Want to see another beast check out Steven Manfro.
Kelsey Young, Remound Wright, Jordan Perkins, and Amir Carlisle. That's all the runningback Stanford has in their commitment class right now. I don't think Cam is going to "regret" nothing.
@StoicBehavioR half of those guys wont be on the field and some will get red shirted. It's not all about athletics, Stanford is ranked 5th in academics in the nation. And he has a better chance at playing the RB position at Stanford and not being changed to WR. If he gets playing time thats great. And if he’s the best back out of all those other backs he will play over them. I get tired of these rankings, if the coach decides to play someone its not based on stars but the work they put in
Firstly I never meantion player rankings just pointing how many runninbacks Stanford has committed to this year class. Secondly, you talk like Notre Dame is not a great academic school. Lastly on I'm not the one on some high schooler highlight talking about "How he going to regert not going to Stanford." Sour grapes anyone!!
@StoicBehavioR Chillax padre, its youtube. Don’t get upset about someones comment its a waste of time, I was just pointing out that at Stanford he would have a better chance at RB and not be moved to a different position, the fact is not that many college's want a white guy running the ball, go look up Ryan Swope, he was another really good RB coming out of Texas and Texas A&M moved him to WR. USC wanted Toby Gerhart as a full back or linebacker after breaking rushing records in CA.
It really wouldnt be a waste to have him at slot if he wouldnt start at rb...? idk why you think thats a bad idea it makes no sense not to have play makers on the field if they can be. Plus slot is where rb's go when they arent playing rb. hmmm mr football dad bench him or put him at slot...not a tough answer.
This kid is good. When he gets to college, he will have to learn to run more North and South. His shifty moves will definitely help, but the holes wont be as big in college either. Protecting the football will be an issue as well. I look forward to seeing his career at Notre Dame! Go Irish!
I disagree with north and south because this is what every high school rb film looks like. Hes obviously gonna go side to side when he knows hes faster. Every rb makes the transition in college. the thing about him is even when going side to side he maintained forward momentum thats what is great to see
It would be a terrific waste of talent to have Cam at slot receiver when his natural position is RB. What, ND has better talent at the tailback position than Cam? I think not! More outstanding white RB's should stick to their guns like Cam and insist on remaining in "their" position. Look at Ryan Swope who went from Austin to Texas A&M. Sure, he's a good slot WR, but would be better in his natural position of RB.
@FootballDad22 Um, ND did recruit him as a RB. Kelly personally told him so. Now, if he can't beat out Cierre Wood, or Roberson, or Gray, then its possible he might get moved to the slot to get as much talent as possible on the field, but thats another case entirely.
WOW what a terrific athlete and player! Welcome to ND Cam! Your hard work is paying off, you can see the difference in your speed between Jr and Sr year highlights! You got True break away speed now kid!!
sick.

This team has some absolutely GREAT blocking. There were many plays where Cam wasn't touched until he was in the secondary.

Robert Hughes is gone. Its Jonas Gray, Cierre Wood, this guy, and maybe Theo Riddick. Riddick is kinda the Reggie Bush RB/WR hybrid now.

Better arrive in South Bend ready to go because you're an injury or two away from being a freshman starting RB.

This kid is much better than anybody gives him credit for.
Change his name to Maurice Johnson and make his skin alot darker and you've got the number 1 RB in the nation.
