  • I miss the old fourth generation (91-96) caprice :(

    not this rebadged upsidedown bathtub..

  • unless you can get your shifter on the column, it has an actual frame, and a solid rear axle, I don't want to know about it. As a life long GM fan, I have to say that getting rid of the B-bodies was GM's dick move of the decade if not the century.

  • eh...hate the new caprices. i liked 65-69 when they were muscle cars, and the 1993-1996 body styles. they just ruined and disgraced the caprice imo

  • this car is bullshit. I use to love Chevy Caprice before they made a stupid move and rid of them. This is no Chevy Caprice heck it's not even built in North America. I'll take Chevy serious when they decide to remake the Real Chevy Caprice from the 80's and build it where it belongs in North America!!!!

  • v8 makes no sense with budget cuts. A turbo diesel v6 would be much better

  • @hunkgod It's true, in Europe they're finding turbo diesels as more useful, the way they have advanced they're just as useful.

  • why does the american police not drive volvo XC70? it's awd higher ground clearance and a big space in the back

  • @becky334 Because it's a foreign car and frankly, we can't afford to have all of them shipped over, much less pay for the actual cars. Chevy and Ford are most popular police car models because the police can get discounts on the cars.

  • @94Johnnyboy1 of course i didn't think of that. That's good that the law enforcement get's a discount when another civilian has to pay full price for a simular car. The Chevy and the Crown Vic are good looking cop cars i must say looking far better than the XC70

  • ahh no , i would Rather driving an American Muscle cart than this garbage i mean Charger Looks Nice

  • damn it has a 06-10 Impala booty!

  • @demariojason

Yeah, I noticed that once I saw a NYPD surge drill, the things basically just a new generation Impala.

Owe and did you mean "body"

  • @SecularTechnology LoL! did you mean oh, instead of owe!! ;-) HaHa just messing with you my friend!! :-) Yeah I meant booty, as in rear end!! But I'm glad you can confirm this about the looks of this Caprice!! Cool! But since this is true, why they just want call it a damn Impala? Its like they refuse to make the damn car rear wheel drive!! Man were waiting for the W Bodies(Monte, Impala, Grand Prix{RIP}) to return since 08, like GM promised! But now we know why!! LoL! 2010 Camaro, Caprice, etc!

  • @demariojason

    Yeah I meant "oh" lol.

The reason they don't call it an Impala is because it's called "purpose built". And they don't want to have the name of a civilian vehicle.

  • @SecularTechnology Oh okay!! I understand!! Do you think its going to be competitive with the new charger that's for the PD??

  • @demariojason

Yeah, but the difference is the Charger is vast majority V-6, while the Caprice will come standard with a V-8, and the V-6 won't come till next year.

  • I imagine these cars are pretty fast concidering the fact they have a VortecMax 6.0

  • actually its a pontiac g8.remember when the u.s. gov bought GMC?well there you go..

  • They stole the design from Chevrolet Lumina S 2008

  • I personaly like the Crown Victoria and I think they should be using it for the next 100 years. All they need is to upday the engine and such but keep the style, Its sexy and intimidating.

  • Holy crap! It's a G8.

  • It's still an ugly azz car.

  • this car is not front wheel drive its rear wheel drive under powered i dont think so 370 hp 6.0 litre V8 very similar to the corvette before its upgrade to 6.2 I own one of these in australia holden staesman/caprice.

  • And our cops in Sweden only gets to drive stinking Volvos and Saabs... piece of shit...

  • there is no reason to make a front wheele drive car and that new caprice looks just like that ugly weak piece of shyt Impala man those cars are so under powerd i dont even kno why they use those models the best year for patrole cars was 96, and u kno what car im talking about the 96 SS Impala cant no car out run it but i will admitt the new dodge charger is pretty nice

  • @georgiabadboy1 If you'd bother to do your research, you'd find that these are RWD, will get some horsepower upgrades by the time they arrive in 2011, and have it where it REALLY counts; body strength, cornering and acceleration. They have only a badge in common with the Impala, as they're a rebadged Holden Caprice; Australian designed and built, like the Pontiac G8

  • @georgiabadboy1 Careful who you go challenging with that 260hp lead sled SS. 0-60 in 7 seconds and 1/4 mile in 15.5 might have been decent 15 years ago but even the most boring grocery-getting, dime-a-dozen front wheel drive V6 sedan produced in the last decade will beat those times handily, while handling better and getting better mileage. Even a Mini Cooper would give an Impala a serious run from a dead stop and in the twisties it wouldn't even be a contest.

  • Well, at least chevy is back in the game for police cruisers. I used to outrun those impalas all the time ha ha in a cavalier nonetheless

  • the Imapala has no buisness as a police car. It isnt even fast. Lets go back to the Chevy Caprice and Ford Crown Vics again.

  • @BartmanMC The Crown Vics would need major suspension upgrades, and this one is an Australian Caprice. A Holden rebadged as a Chevy. However, they sit on a stretched version of the Pontiac G8 floorpan, and will leave the current Crown Vic for dead. As for strength, the body shell looks like a rollcage under the skin.

  • Pfff, it's no match for Patrol Lada 2105 :D

  • actually the Carbon Moters E-7 is the bost polce squad car that will be put in production. it is a purpose built police vehicle, unlike the crown vic, impala and caprice.

  • @sheriffcadet123321 Believe it when we see it. Concept and business plans can be very different from reality. If Carbon doesn't get some order volume for start up production and increase market share every year, it will likely be too expensive for any department to buy. Niche cars like this can be great but can cost some serious money, too.

  • man i love caprices,BUT THIS shitty car is an insult for all older models!!!!!! IT IS ABSOLUTELY UGLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HATE ALL NEW THINGS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • pontiac G8 was a way better looking car the chevy caprice looks like a old mans car. the charger looks mean.

  • @zoneracer They only used Holden's Caprice because of the longer wheelbase and cabin room. Allows them to put the "monkey cage" divider in without sacrificing legroom for the cops up front

  • i think crown vic better than this australian shep!

  • agree... crown vics are reliable cheap and dont break down every fucking time. however i do like the tahoe's

  • Caprices aren't FWD, tyvm

  • wtf is that shit.. you should come here see Australian ones. V8 commodores. and Xr8's. even once saw a rexy and a porsche

  • Scared....

  • pffft there shit, our police cars are holden commodores that look almost the same as the chev version but 10 times better and smoother

  • Comment removed

  • lol, u fool.... they are commos. just rebadges and diff body kits.

  • ahkay, thanks man :)

  • how funny! these new cop cars ARE a rebadged holden commodore caprice lolololol

  • @soundwalkeraudio

NO, it's a rebaged Statesman. Longer wheelbase.

  • only bad point is the windscreen pillars are too thick..

  • so true, this is a crap holden. Why they say no one is able to escape from a shit car like that. only the bogans in holdens will get caught. others will escape. bogan cops

  • Ah, Most of the cars sold in the USA are actually front drive as they worry about people not being able to drive a rear drive car.

They also have them under powered anyway, it's only a copule cars here and there that would get away.

  • no one is able to escape from a car like this, sorry for the street racers

  • The Crown Vic is rear drive, the frame makes it a much more solid vehicle. Front drives are virtually impossible to maintain in a police car. And personally, I don't support the bailout cars!!

  • @AnsonBomber This IS a RWD. Chevrolet don't build it themselves, GM Holden in Australia do. They can withstand abuse even Crown Vics can tolerate, and have the advantage of not having to slide round corners Dukes of Hazzard style

  • OMG paint it green and yellow and it looks like one of the british or european police cars

  • Best Government Motors product.

  • It looks a lot like the VE Commodore 08/09 PIGS use them here in Auzzie too.

  • thats a holden

  • You can all shut the F%^& up, its an Aussie Holden.. N thats it. Only reason you have that engine in it is because your trying to grasp on your last hope of chevy staying alive. It tried to corner the world market by making unique parts thats only available and compatible with its cars and so was a big flop.. the american chevs cannot compete with japanese products and is gasping its last breath.. its an Aussie Holden with an american up its ass,you were too embarased to leave it all Aussie.

  • Holden is owned by General Motors, this is indeed a holden designed vehicle. Not unlike some of the other Holden Designed Chevy vehicles like the Chevy Camaro, the Chevy impala and I believe the Pontiac G8.

    Pontiac g8 = Chevy Caprice = Holden

    All the same thing.

  • Holden Statesman to be precise. Its like the limousine version of the holden commodore - longer, slightly larger.

  • hahaha yeah the back looks exactly like a statesman :P i never liked the chev version of what general motors brought out

  • too fucking right mate....lol

  • This is not being negative Rossblandon.. I'm in the Police Dept and most units are moving over to the Chevy Tahoe since the Crown Vic is no longer in production.. By the time the equipment is installed in each unit.. there's no space for the officer. Due to the small size of cars. The Dodge Chargers are bigger than the Taurus and the Caprice but still cramped. Its has Nothing to do with Australia but the size of patrol units

  • @dallaspolo They should work on efficiency; Australian police cars are a short wheelbase version of this car, have a similar amount of equipment, but don't feel at all cramped inside. They have two radios and a data terminal, and it all fits fairly discreetly inside

  • meh.. im an ozzie.. and i think instead of saying hey we made that car so har har etc.. whats wrong with appreciating what we can do together.. cause all u fellow aussies are you forgetting where the engine of that thing has come from.. the one most single important part of that car u love soo much.. all those hsv's.. what are they without there corvette engines hmm?? its a joint effort... nice if we could all just appreciate and stop usless bullshit. whats the point... really... what is it. <3

  • If you've ever driven one you'd think otherwise. Do you have anything to back up your claim, or were you just talking out your butt like most people on the internet?

  • come to Australia and say that

we'd go cronulla riots on your ass

  • I'm sure you would. How would you react if I were to say I was Australian?

  • your not

coz you're taking to much pride in saying that the united emirites making cars

any australian wouldn't bag their own country

dude dont bag other countries, it just a car no need to go all keyboard warrior

  • Just another American pissed off because you can't claim anything is made in America because NOTHING IS MADE THERE ANYMORE PML!

  • My bad, you're from the UAE, possibly the loudest nation in the world to gloat about things they've made!

  • Yeah, without us you'd be walking you dumb cunt. If we want to, we could have you taking out a mortgage every time you wanted to take a road trip.

  • Still, you didn't have to be a dick about it. Guess americans are full of people who base their impressions of australians of tv. In reality we are MUCH different.

  • Australia rulz..!

  • AUSTRALIAN MADE

  • my new favorite cop car!

  • Just the australian VE model holden :)

  • Too true, guess they cant afford the Toyota then. Just one holden together.

  • So it is. I just went and read up on the VE. What I read, said it was developed fully within Australia and specifically designed for ease of conversion to left hand drive.

Go Aussie.....but I still drive a Ford XT.

  • @SauronsEye GM Holden Australia were given the job of designing the Zeta platform, the world rear drive platform for GM. It was built from the start to integrate left and right hand drive. The last Pontiac GTO, G8 and Camaro all use it. All three were designed here, and only the Camaro isn't on a production line here

  • ironically its the streets of Detriot where police is needed most

  • CIVILIAN MODEL NAO!!!

  • Just go buy the Chevrolet Caprice...they look exactly the same.

  • On one hand, when these cars are decomissioned and sold off at auctions, it could mean the return of the Caprice in the civilian world?

  • Too bad it ain't Pontiac no more... This was really cool tough!

  • Thanks Ray, that is awesome!
