well held. Thats a nasty bit of the track. You need to stay right and back off slightly on the gas when going over the crest. Many experience lift off going over the crest and lose the back end
yeah if you had controlably slipped the wheel instead of snatching it you prolly could have straightened it out but you kept it off the wall either way and its hard to process everything in these situations nice save
A little off the throttle at the crest of hill... Car didn't like that, did it? Before criticizing about overcorrecting, you should know this car is like a slingshot when it lets go. A 911 this ain't. You usually can't get it back without changing hand positions. I think he did a noble job keeping air between the wall and his paint.
Too much of useless countersteering...less sometimes means more. With the 4 consecutive slides you´ve putted yourself in more dangerous situation than with the first unexpected slide.
Next time, take it easy, bit of countersteer and let it slightly slide out of the corner - you will make it much better...
This is a very tricky turn. No downshift is required when entering, since you need to brake and downshift more for the next tigher right corner. Everything should be done in the straight line for this section.
Probably not, but I think that the major mistake here is releasing the hands from this normal position at steering wheel, because I think that could be possible to control the start of this oversteer without doing too much countersteering (enough to not necesary release the hands from the sterring wheel), but also I think that in this situation would be very hard to reaction with calm if we are not professional drivers... :)
looks like the weight was upset by the gear change at precisely the wrong moment ( just before turning in). Very easily done. Been there twice now and the corners catches out lots of people. Best to brake in a straight line just beforehand and then pin the fun pedal again right through the corner. There's a famous clip of an MR2 having a nasty moment there. When I was there this summer two Brits flew off the track in a new Corsa VXR and were hospitalised for some time Germany.
sigh...you Don't even realize WHY the rear end slipped out do you? It slipped out because of DRIVER ERROR. You did NOT revmatch/heeltoe the downshift, and you locked up the rears, and disrupted the rear of the car, sending it out. That is the whole point of heeltoe/revmatching, to maintain stability on hard downshifts.

Now Kids, thats how you save a car when you loose control, steer against the side the car is going.
Rio356 2 years ago
Have any of those who have mentioned over correcting, or being slow with the steering actually driven a light weight mid engined sports car ?
Once a car like an elise starts to spin it is like wd1000 described, it can be very hard to gather up from a slide.

Beginner's mistake, too slow on the wheel. Happened to everyone of us, don't think twice.

I started to change down at about 100mph and the back end let go about 90mph.
I now stay in 5th and go through the corner about 100mph.
Someone on SELOC described it as "incompetant arm waving" :o)
I'll admit it wasn't very elegant but it was all over in about 4 seconds and I was very happy with the end result!
