  • Back when being thin wasn't a sin.

  • omg - was there - and we thought we were soooo cool! Mmm maybe we were and maybe siill are - tiwggy is still as beautiful as ever

  • and there was life even before internet and computers...

  • @dan1elpess0a There was more life before the internet and computers.

  • Twiggy!!! God that name takes me back!

  • wish i had lived in the 60's

  • My dad told me his grandad hated the 60s lol

  • Good old days !!! almost in Fashion...

  • does anyone know the name of the song?

  • @rainbowcheli

Zombies "She's not there" (name of song on Swinging 60's vid) I know it's been like 4 months since u made this comment ,but maybe u still wondered who sang this!) lol : )

  • @rainbowcheli Does anybody NOT know the name of the song?

  • Ah the era of taking exotic creatures for a walk down the Kings Road. Think I read that the Small Faces took some alligators for a walk down Carnaby Street, but I can't find anything about it on the net. Sure I didn't imagine it. Steed and the Twig too. Amazing Twiggy is advertising M@S in 2010 ~ over 40 years later. Steed lived in a mews house ~ I wanted to as well, won't be able to afford to now!

  • I've got that record - She's Not There by the Zombies. Unfortunately, mine's one of the common copies on Decca. Where can I get an ultra-rare copy on Tamla Motown, as seen at the beginning of the clip!?

Is that Mary Quant right at the end?

  • wow, the sixties was fabulous. I wish everything was peaceful and cool instead of stupid. Those short skirts and boots were so cute.

  • does anyone know the name of the song?

  • @mender3 She's not there - The zombies !!!!!

  • Groovy!

  • I remember the 60s but the downside to it was society was so obsessed with modernity a lot of really beautifil old buildings were demolished and a lot of the character and individuality of our towns disappeared for ever.

  • who's the guy in the blue room?

  • @LastTree Looks a bit like Nureyev (esp in profile), but I could be wrong.

  • @SuperNevile Yes it looks like him, though Nureyev has a different nose.

  • @LastTree If you compare the profiles stopping this video at 1:53, and comparing ithe profile with the one on site backstagepassblog.ca(questionmark) p=1111, the resemblence is uncanny. However as I've said, I could be wrong. Cheers

  • 1st place i would go if i had a time machine! 2nd would the 1600s

  • wish i could visit 1964, get myself to brighton!

  • There's an excellent DVD available called Look at Life in the 60's. It comprises of a series of colour films made by the Rank organization, and all films were shot in or around London. There's on on my channel called Scooter Commuter.

  • I WAS THERE !!!!! Wearing the latest Mary Quant (not eating in order to pay for it!) Swinging London in the 1960s - worked there, loved every minute, & brought all those fab memories home to Sydney with me, thanks for taking me back there again

    Cheers fm Sydney/OZ

  • the 60s... where everything good from the past culminates n gathers during this period..

theres still good times fr the 70s~mid 90s..

after that every good times just stops.

    *sigh~~*

when will portable time machines b realised?

  • man , if i had a time machine i'd go back then and stay there FOREVER . this was the place to be back then , all that was hip and happening with music and fashion . stars like the rolling stones , Jimi Hendrix , The Beatles , The Kinks , Procol Harumm ,The Who , and continued . I'm so jealous of everyone who got to grow up in a time like this . what an advantage . London is and always has been a magical place :)

  • 0:31 that camera man looks so sick and funny at the same time...

  • A much better time and place. You could be a fool without being an idiot.

  • I can't believe how long ago all this way. In a way it feels like it was just 10 yrs ago or something. I was a teenager on the town and now I'm pushing 60. I used to love shopping at Lord John in those days and going about with my friends to all the clubs and parties.

  • I hate the 'Quant look'. It was for women whose bodies had not developed properly. Ultimate result - all the 'eating disorders' we have today.

  • Granted, I know there were turbulent times back then and the fashion was mediocre..But the counter culture and music is what made this decade what it was..I love the '60's and always will..There wasn't any other decade nor will there be any other like it..Peace to all!!!

  • Why can't we bring this back for. Hate everything that got to do with the modern world.

  • @ 1:40 OMG!!! Walking a big cat down the streets?? WOW!!!

  • Give me a time capsule !

  • THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! jethropike1964

  • please what is the name of the song??

por favor, ¿cuál es el nombre de la canción?

  • @sergioecz The song is called She's Not There by The Zombirs. It got to #12 in the British single charts in the summer of 1964.

  • @jethropike1964 Zombies oooops

  • ahh i loveee fashion : ) , that is twiggy isnt it ?

  • Comment removed

  • Mod Culture is my bag baby! Awesome compilation!

  • I was 17 in 1967 and fashions like these were all around me in the UK. What a time to have been around. I'm soory for you young ones who missed it, but remember that this now makes me 60, so an oldie. But I still ride my Mod scooter and love all the 60's music still.

  • Yeah, we HAD the best time, 60's and 70's. The freedom to be who you really are arrived in this decade and its still around in some form. These days people can dress in any way they wish mostly and not get too much flak for it, wheras before the 60's you were expected to conform heavily. These 2 decades changed that, if you wnat to wear green hair now you can and noone will say much, but they certainly would have in the 50's and early 60's.

  • @Awareable Do you know what I miss most about those times - apart from the fun and the new freedom? Just that people were so much kinder and smilier and less competetive and life was less pressured!! I have sons in their 20s and I wouldn't want to be young now.

  • @dontknowreally Yes, those times were much less materialistic, and much less dogmatic in many ways. As much as it is very unwise to say this, the combinations of many diff cultures makes for a great deal of competition, human nature has not been taken into consideration, we will compete for our territory,(like all animals) whether we imagine its being infringed or not. Of course, the pursuit of wealth infects everythiing as well.

  • Ugh i wanna go back in time soooo bad, the 60s were so beautiful!

  • The 60's were a blast!! The fashion was amazing, the music was lovely and upbeat the movies were enjoyable, those rose tinted glasses, what a time!

Ah don't forget malt shops! You don't see them nowadays :(

We didn't have computers, cell phnoes, x box, nintendos, mp3s, gameboys. We did have movie reels (before dvds) and records (before cds) and that was basically all the tech we had. We didn't need a lot. We actually relied on ourselves. :)

  • I would

  • I was born in the wrong decade.

  • fantastic clothes make up music everything. God I wish I was young again....lol

    Hot pants at the disco..

  • Everything about the 60s are Awesome!

  • what's the name of music ?please please please

  • @Ornieee The Zombies - she's not there

  • love it. Thanks for sharing.

  • ... i still saw the late of carnaby in the 80s ...

... theres nothing back from the 60s --- what a shame!

  • carnaby st ruind last time i was there its lost its 60s feel and look

  • Gorgeous! Carnaby Street is still a fab place to be and shop, why was i born in the wrong era?!

  • At least you were born in the right country...

  • Rod Argent, Twiggy and Mary Quant. Probably a scent of Eau! de London, too.....

    Sigh.

  • Gosh, I was clearly born in the wrong era :(

    thanks for the video!

  • Lol me too

  • We can only worship, take this from a MOD at heart!

  • swingy*

  • i'm obsessed with the swing 60s silhouette. if i remember correctly zac posen exploited it in his latest collection - and i didn't get it initially. perhaps, i'll take another look at it.

  • The quick glimpse of the girl in the fox coat walking the leopard is so hot !

  • Very good video! Loved it. :-)

  • loved it. faved

  • I must confess to feeling very refreshed at the sight of some of these nubile honies here

  • Gosh... seeing these outfits reminds me of my length of mini cloths much shorter then the London chicks wore and how discusting remarks I got from the old folks...hahaha. Also loved this tune from the Zombies :)

  • 0.23, John Steed of The Avengers! The Avengers is a another perfect example of the swinging 60's of London.

  • huh??? you joke. when in the heck do you think the Zombies sang this???

  • They sang this unmod POP song in the 1960s. So what? It's no joke. I said get some REAL 60s MOD MUSIC in here, and this AINT it.

  • Montag, this 'unmod pop song' as you call it was released in 1964, was way before its time and sums up 1960s Britain just as much as any of the ones you mentioned. It might not be what you would call mod, but it's definately 60s, definately real and it AINT , how did you describe it? Lame?

  • Love the 60th!!! Nice boots and short skirts are a perfect combination!!!

  • Brilliant! Thank you for posting. Isn't it amazing how nice and slim people used to be back then, even the average person walking down the road. What the bl**dy h*ll went wrong?!

  • post war rationing still having a knock on effect years after it stopped. I'd say that's what happened..

  • the1960s what a era i lived in portsmouth one and a half hours by car to london [no traffic in them days[ at weekends of to a party at 9pm drive back at about 5am off to work at 8am

  • I loooove London, which I could live there :-( Thanks for the post, british fashion is the best

  • so very nice, thanks for posting!

  • cool, thanks!

  • I love this video!

  • nice

another gem of London street style 'London is the Place for Me'

  • This period had an ambiance and style that is unique and kids today will never know. I mean I feel sorry for the kids today as all they have is crap loud garbage to listen to .

I was in the 60's and it was so fab I mean.

  • @staypress I totally agree with you, but some of us are lucky enough to find all kinds of music from this time and enjoy it. Like me.

Still sad to be born in the 90's thou. If i could choose I would have lived in the 60's rather than this crap time. No freedom at all. Only stress

  • There are so many things that I find so fascinating about the late 1960's. I love some of the fashion....

There are so many other things that get glossed over though... like all the pollution for example. Perhaps it was a simpler and quieter time... I would love to visit 1968, but would not like to live there I think.

  • I think that there are many enchanting ages. Fashionable 30's, Modern 60's and psychedelic era, PUNK era. In addition,1990's nightclub culture. There is a good part in all ages.

I would love to visit 1967.

  • Ohhhhh Yes I comletly Agree With You!!! I was watching this Vid and I'm in love..thanks toa fellow youtuber !!!

  • Smashing! Nice touch having it go into colo(u)r for the organ solo.

  • fantastic

for a take on London now check out 'London is the place for me'

  • I'll soon be 62, and of all my favorite memories, London in the 60's is far-and-away, the best!

As has been already stated...the (absolute) best of everything.

Looking-back, I am amazed at how relatively innocent and yes, even naive (we) all (still) were.

  • i love london during the 60's. i'm only 18 (19 soon) and was born in the 90's so i obviously missed out! It seemed like such an amazing time, can ask while you were in that time did you kind of know that it was a historic time or was just like normal. Because right now i don't see anything special about 2009 and i don't see people i 40 years looking back at now and saying how amazing it was! lol

  • interesting observation actually me and my mate discuss this and we realise that people in the 60's didnt realise at the time that it would be looked back on as it is you know just another day but as for now it aint worth a s#t and no it will not be remeberred

  • lol! i thought as much oh and i'm 19 today!

    1990 in the house! lol

i'm getting ready for the boo's

  • wow u r so pretty hm u look like halle berry lol

  • @xKeyshia18x You are so right. We did know that it was a special time.

  • best era man! Best music, best all round atmosphere and the best fashion! wish i'd been born back then....

  • best period to have lived in, best music , creative fashion, most beautiful looking cars, innovative thinking, only nixon was the black spot

  • And even Nixon is undergoing somewhat of a reappraisal. Our foreign policy back was about 100 times more sophisticated and intelligent than now. Nixon didn't do "reset" buttons.

  • back = back then

  • HAH :25

Man, those were the days. If I could dress like this (and I do try, believe me... but being a white kid in a predominately black high school and dressing like this is pretty damn tough) every day, I would.

Brilliant... god, those were the days. :)

  • I was born in the wrong time and at the wrong place. THe SWINGING SIXTIES was the best decade in whole history. Music, art, fashion...everything is the best. The music is the Zombies, isn't it?

  • The person might long for the past even if they are born in which age.

    This music is the Zombies.

  • I agree, My wish is to take a ride on the Mc Fly Dolorean and go all the way back to the late 60's!

  • @lilic1 DUDE I'M WITH YA!!!! you're so right dude I agree with you this decade SUCKS compared to the 60's and 70's

  • Yeah, I remember mini-skirts and hot pants! I could wear those cute clothes back then!!

Darn!! I like this song, too!

  • Did you spend the youth in this age?

    You are a lucky generation.

    My youth was PUNKS....

  • Yes, pckg21c, I was born in 1952 (now I'm 56), so I was around when the Beatles hit (Beatlemania). It was very exciting. I still feel they are the #1 band ever!! How exciting it was to see the Beatles for the first time, on the Ed Sullivan TV Show. They were so different, talented and cute, than any band I'd ever seen! I'm thrilled to see young people like you who love the sixties music, especially the Beatles.

    Have a great day, Kathy

  • How lucky you're.:) It must have been very exviting to see a such a new and talented band on the Ed Sullivan Show LIVE. I was born in the middle of the 80s, but I like only the music of the sixties and early seventies.Especially the Beatles and other bands from England and the US.

  • Hi Lilic 1 (sorry, don't know your first name) -- I didn't see the Beatles live. If a band or soloist or comedien appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show (television), then you have made it! Sorry, I keep forgetting not everyone knows what the Ed Sullivan show was! It was still very exciting. We had never seen a group like the Beatles! They were so different, talented and gorgeous! Especially Paul! I was 11 years old, and I'm not 56! That's 45 years! Wow, times flies! Talk soon! Kathy

  • pc , my youth was punk as well, I felt lucky to have that as "my time", but I feel that my time is From birth to death.

  • @ThankfulForLife52 yes great times indeed. Minis & boots seem to be enjoying a welcome revival (even for ladies of a certain age). Fabulous song, a timeless classic. Still enjoyed every time heard. It will be on this site of course.

  • Love It - PVC Coats + Boots, Hot Pants

Minis + a figure to die for those were the days my friend lol!! - GR8 share Laura

  • That's awesome.

  • Back in 1994 I was in this bar/club in L.A. and they were playing a video called "60's-a-go-go". It was produced by a local company and was a smashing montage of dancers, fashions and music. I was a fool for not trying to obtain a copy! Someone may still have it.

  • Hi can anyone tell me where I can get footage like this on dvd or download. Thanks for your help.

  • sometimes i think i was born in the wrong era. i hate the dress style now because it's all the same, cheap-looking, and everyone tries to be something they're not. in the 60's, people exuded style and class without trying hard.

  • I also think as much as you occasionally.

I like Fin de siècle,Rolling Twenties and 60'S-70's. These era where the style exists.

  • i think the late nineties, aka the go-go nineties & the free spending internet boom era, was every bit as good as the roaring twenties or swinging london.

  • I also think as much as you. The Internet-era in the 90's were very interesting.

  • good!

  • Kool!

  • the 60's was the best!

  • "She's Not There" by The Zombies.

  • whats the song??

  • Love your video!
