why wasn't I a teenager in the 90's? Seriously, I have to be one now? Why? Music sucks.-_- I'm so jealous of you 90's teens. All of my favourite movies/Shows, and of course music are from the 90's. You guys were really lucky!
Yep. But, if anything, it shows that one does not have to adapt to what's popular. It shows that we always have the option of making our own scene. ;)
@TheCanadianPrairies true, I do like the odd modern thing. But nothing mainstream. Mostly like indie movies and really unkown bands. XD Still though I would've loved to experience the vibe of the 90's, actually in the 90's instead of trying to recreate it. XD It's still good, just not the same. :/
Yep. We sure did have gems back in the day. From Shirley Manson and her team to those rowdy boys from Seattle (RIP Kurt and Layne!)....and even RAP sounded not that half bad! Can you imagine that on today's radio? Bah!
But there's still good music out there today. All you gotta do is look. Check out Sophie Ellis Bextor/Alizee for good pop, European labels for good metal, and the classics for if you don't care about genres and age and just want a jolly good time!
@BinkaMinka I didn't properly discover Garbage til I left high school in 2004 so I know what you mean, but you can still enjoy them loads even out of the 90's. Just sad I missed the opportunity to go see their concerts etc.
@BinkaMinka I agree that we (those of us who were teens in the 90s) were lucky in a lot of ways. The economy was better too, and there was a lot more general optimism about the future than there is now. But there was also a dark side to it all. A lot of the organic, guitar-laden sound of 90s music came from a place of despair too, and one reason it resonated with a lot of people who were teens then was because there was a strange, pervasive sense of darkness and sadness too.
@BinkaMinka There was just as much crap as today, you still had to dig for the gems and couldn't rely too much on radio and TV - although I'll admit MTV wasn't too bad back then. And without the Internet, it could be tough finding the gems. Having to wait for weeks before you could buy one particular album, just because your local store didn't have it, wasn't easy either.
WoW! Hell Yeah! Love Garbage... been listening to a lot of Garbage, Hey You!, Blondie, Joan Jett, The B-52's, Flyleaf, and No Doubt. really like girl singers :-)
Hey You! is still pretty new, but they're waaaay dope. Rock/Pop/Punk with a real cool edge. Plus they've got a cute girl singer ;-) ....you should check 'em out...

@klonboy Music, Tv, and Movies peaked in the 90's and they're going downhill too fast. -_-
lol even my teachers say I should've been born in the 80's because of how much I love the 90's.
