This is amazing! Two great Canadian musicians playing a wonderful piece of music and doing a FANTASTIC job at it. James Campbell is my hero.... and Gould is well.... GOULD!
glenn gould had, contrary to the common meaning,a bigger repertoire as most people think.he couldnt only play bach magnificent, but he was also an excellent chamber-musician!;))
Gould played the Brahms Piano Concerto with Bernstein also. That was one strange performance. Campbell is a wonderful player and it's a treat to hear him at the start of his career.
Campbell was born in 1949, so adding 23 makes the recording date 1972. He's less well known in the US because he's Canadian, but clarinetists know all about him as a top player.
This is from a CBC television programme made in the 1970's when CBC was still interested in quality music.
Since Gould did not like Debussy this is the only recording of him playing his music.
The clarinetist is the then 23 year old james Campbell, now Professor of Music at the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University and a soloist of some repute.
The piano version was completed in January 1910 and arranged for Orchestral by the composer in 1910/1911. So the piano part is the original first version by the composer.
He's known as a top player by Professional Clarinetists! He was a student of Abe Galper - I've done many projects with Abe.

Why don't you run the tape directly into your computer? And then you could sync it to the remastered audio available on CD from Sony.
