Everytime I hear James Moody play flute, which is my instrument, I always get an idea for something to do, like a teacher saying "here, try this . ...".
While I love jazz I am not not NOT a big band fan. But this selection and arrangement has just the right touch and blend that it works for me. Big. This is a flute performance with a strong backing balance, with just a couple of touches where the band provided punch and punctuation. So while that's a spectacular flute rendition (and I'm not a flute fan either), great credit for this song's arrangement. On a timeless song that's worthy of excellence and greatness in performance!
Hey douche bag. You obviously have no rights to talk since you say you love jazz but hate big band, which is what jazz is mostly. And you have clearly reinforced that by expressing your dislike of jazz flute, which was (and still is) used in big band settings. Duke wrote for them, Basie wrote for them, so you should really think about if you love jazz or love "jazz".
Mr. Manson, thank you for that edification. I had no idea how far off base I was, with the top of my heap including Tito, Moody, Jobim, Getz and Gilberto(s) on the Latin front. That's right, James. (Oh, sorry, I have none. Obviously.) Miles and Evans dominate on my "standards front."
I THINK that I complimented JM's performance and particularly the arrangement. But I defer to your superior judgment.
amazing sound and articulation

Moody's Articulation is incredible! You can still hear the definition of each note in those shredding phrases.
