i saw zep several times. honestly, they kinda sucked live. I mean, it took a LOT of studio work for robert to hit those notes. before you start sending evil e mails check a few of their vids, youll see what I mean. seen Warren a few times too. never had a disapointing show yet.
Execution of this song is flawless, the only part that leaves me wanting more is the vocals when the band kicks in. I've heard the Zepp ver so many times that I expect that falsetto voice to kick in. I heard this version for the first time on Jam_On yesterday and was disappointed Warren didn't go out of his comfort zone and blow his vocal chords for it! /s
What would be awesome is a Gov't Mule/Zepp duo on this.
Even though you addressed that comment to me, you clearly didn't really want me to see it. You don't know how to reply to a comment. I only saw it because nitwit jeobrass replied to me.
The video isn't what's in question, it's the performance of the song. So... please wake up and smell the coffee. I said many times the music itself is pretty decent. The vocals are ASS and don't fool yourself into thinking Plant's vocals aren't extremely important to this song - or any LZ song.
Are you enjoying yourself? Putting words in my mouth is fun? :-)
I NEVER said Plant is the only one who can sing this. I've heard lots of other LZ covers that WERE good. Pat Monaghan, for example, kills when he covers Plant. However, Warren is not doing well during this performance. It's embarrassing. Maybe his voice was shot, perhaps they played this as an encore, I dunno. Either way, it's not good.
No one considers Plant a good guitarist, so no argument there.
I actually am enjoying myself and I believe you are too. ;-]
This was actually the 2nd set of the show. Warren played a set of mostly his songs and a rolling stones cover, then invited Audley out to do the 2nd set, which was a complete cover of the house of the holy album. I should knwo, cause I got it. =]
Now, I enjoy the little argument were having, but lets move this to the private messages so we don't continue to spam this good mans video. ;-]
point taken ... but the quality of audio is not really that great ... warren can cover anyone ...and many better then the origional ... there is no harder working man in rock ... be greatful guy's like warren carry the torch for rock & roll today ..
I feel very fortunate to have been at both this show and the 07 Bonnaroo show. Nothing will ever top the Bonnaroo show, but this one, right in my back yard, was pretty special.

Wow. I feel very fortunate not to have been at this show. This song starts out STRONG until 2:25 when the singer sounds like he gargled a few fresh pieces of dog shit. He needs to stick to playing guitar. He should be punched in the face for butchering Plant so badly. If he's too tired or too untalented to cover Plant's voice during this part, they shouldn't cover the song. His high register during that part is a huge part of the appeal of this song.
You are right about him not hitting the high notes on this song being a major disappointment. It was definitely the low point of an otherwise stellar show. What was frustrating for me was that in other songs he nailed the high parts. His singing in The Rain Song, for example, was amazing. Don't base your opinion of the show as a whole off of one song.
I'm judging the song based on this video that we're replying to. I have no idea about other songs or other shows or how this guy might sing in the shower - simply this performance right here.
Hey cutegirl the guy singing is Warren Haynes from Gov't Mule and The Alman Bros. He has a soulful and weathered voice. He is a very talented, actually phenominal musician and plays out about 300 days a year between the 2 bands. Also, that is Robert Plant himself standing in the middle playing rythm guitar. I am sure if he was concerned about how Warren was going to perform the song he would have stepped up to the mic. Also, Robert himself cannot hit those notes anymore. Not many people can.

LOL!! What a tool you are! "such a lady"!
Nice sense of humor. I was using a figure of speech, not being literal. And since when is saying someone who is butchering a song should be punched in the face so un-ladylike? Relax, weirdo.
jdsrazor, #1 what if I did "get up and try it"? Now what? What the hell point does that make? None. #2 People don't have to do the task that people are criticising, you retard. If someone says their Chevy Cavalier is a poorly made piece of shit, is an appropriate response "why don't you try and make one"?
Try hard to stop being a retard. You'll notice life improves for you. Dipshit.
Hmmm...I never realized my name might appear blasphemous. I don't want to offend Jesus of His preciousness and holiness. Well, any suggestions? I appreciate your help.
@JeezusFUCKINGkryst If we wuz Mooslims we could just stone you. But you're probly stoned already. But then you did spell blasphemous so maybe not. Keep the name drives the rollers crazy.
dude, not cool, Warren is not untalented nor does he need a punch in the face... It's a jam band.. it's not always going to be perfect but they jammed the shit out of that song. One spot in there he couldn't hit... ONE SPOT. He's not Robert Plant. good luck finding someone who can make thoes notes. This performance rocked the musicians were right on and they jelled for sure! two notes were off... Please tell me why he diserves a punch in the face cuz i don't consider that butchering...
3. Lost your ears in a horrible car, train or plane accident
4. Have your ear canals packed TIGHT with canine fecal matter (dog shit)
He didn't miss "one spot" - it's ALL butchered. As covering Plant, there are LOTS that can pull it off. Pat Monaghan from Train covers Led Zep on Howard Stern's show a lot. At LEAST people can cover the notes - this dude's an octave low. Horrible!
It's not YOUR Zeppelin, loser. And there isn't any "shit" to deal with - just opinions on here, you sensitive little bitch.
You clearly have NO idea about Led Zeppelin or THEIR music (not your Zeppelin, asshole) so it's a good idea that you chose to shut your stupid pie hole.
And learn how to spell, retard. "u'r"? Holy shit you are stupid. It's funny when people who clearly have a sub-75 IQ call other people retards. It's priceless!
A loser, sensitive little bitch, asshole and shut my stupid pie hole, that shows how ignorant you are. I dont understand why you have put people down in order to make your point. I was just defending a performer that I have seen a dozen times and love. I dont want to argue with some girl over the internet, I believe we are both older than that. Please check out some Govt Mule and See Warren Haynes in his groove. I still hope you have a nice day and please lose the antagonism. :o)
why do you people honestly have to fight over something stupid as how Warren sang the song. He's an octave low, so what. He sang it well. No cover is perfect. Gov't Mule is the closest you'll ever get to the real thingm believe me.
That was MONTHS ago, Speedy. Why ask something stupid like that now?
And if you think the problem is that he's simply singing an octave lower (the most important vocal part of this song is the range it's in), you are not worth discussing this with.
I don't know what all the ruckus is about. It's the mule. They take chances, they go for it, it's not supposed to be perfect. The point is to chill, play a song with some feeling, relax, have fun. The crowd obviously gets it.

You don't have to insult me. This was obivously an open discussion. Caling me name won't help. You need to keep your attitude in check.
BTW Plant can't sing this song the same anymore anyways. At the O2 show everything was tuned down a whole step.
Trying being nicer next time. =]

#1 I know I don't HAVE to insult you, I choose to.
#2 We're not talking about Plant at the age of 65 or whatever he is.
#3 A "whole step down"? That's not even CLOSE to a fucking octave lower.
#4 You should keep your disgusting brown eye in check. Don't worry about my attitude. :-)
Do yourself a favor and respond to #2 and #3 only.
cutegirl1982 3 years ago 3
Well, lets just agree to disagree. You think Plants a much better singer then Warren, and Plant is the only one who can sing this song.
I'll say this though. Warren is a much better guitarest than Plant. Yes he plays guitar, I've seen videos on youtube. ;-]
