i get 35-40 fps avarage at high textures 800x600res

keep view distance under 20 at this resolution

you get better fps at high textures than low textures for this game

and important turn off the shadows they cause lag

i recomand 2 gb of ram and  from what i've seen on the internet the D 2.80 proc has some performance issues with gta 4 !!

The game still has shadows good reflection the models remain complex only the textures are washed (so the only thing set to medium should be the textures because it makes the game look more detailed and more cool ) . The older games just don't have the complex models of cars and people , good shadow that this games has on the low settings !!

The higher the detail the more detail u can see -more buildings more things on the buldings more bushes, more stuff on the streat more people and u can see far away buildings ,stuff like that 1 !!

I think it will but u will have to run it on low and u will have to use the second patch for gta 4 that allows u to lower the shadows and reflections !

Probably not. Not even on low I'd guess due to old cpu (Pentium D I presume) and bad gpu as well.

The graphics card is pretty weak, maybe buy a 9600 gt, also gta 4 recommends 2.5gb ram (crazy i know), so get some cheap compatible ram, otherwise u should b fine.

Thank god, I find 20 FPS is good enough in games and I can handle min settings just fine. I have always found a way to get an extra 10FPS out of games with a 8500 GT so I guess it really isn't as bad as it should be.

Also all of my hardware is better than yours except the graphics card of course. All I can say it thank you for showing me that I don't have to spend over $100 on a new graphics card just to play this.
