The entire rationale behind the Vietnam war was stopping Communism. Instead of actually fighting the Communists, Kissinger supported the Khmer Rouge as "allies" against the Viet Cong. The entire rationale behind the Vietnam war was stopping Communism. Instead of actually fighting the Communists, Kissinger supported the Khmer Rouge as "allies" against the Viet Cong. In other words, the US supported the worst Communist regime in history, all for the alleged purpose of "stopping Communism." This is an unforgiveable crime and no humane person can defend it.

I am from a country that may be considered to be a Communist one. To me, I don't know much about politics, especially political system. I just need to know that I can live peacefully inside my country and develop myself, which is all I need and want to know. Someone says that I don't have enough human rights as in other different -political-system countries, which doesn't hurt me a bit. I think, Communism has both advantages and disadvantages, which I still need to learn more about.

I just want to say that Communism as described by Marx, has never been tried. The soviet union and Stalin's regimes were fascist they may have called themselves Communist, but that does not make it so.

@littlteapot Totally agree with that first paragraph. It always is the case. Just like in Afghanistan we are not fighting Al Queda or even really the Taliban. We have fighting the same muja freedom fighters (who are peasant farmers in peace time) who will fight simply because any outside military force is in there country.
I agree with your second point, though I don't its as simply as "communism didn't work" the USSR was isolated from the west of the world in so many ways it's harder to know.

The reason we escalated the war in Viet Nam was a lie, the Gulf of Tonkin was an admitted lie by Robert Mcnamara. The Soviet Union didn't collapse becus of America's military, it collapsed becus they had an unsustainable economic system much like the one we have today. Empires don't work they crash and burn. Besides the cold war was a ploy by the leaders of the world to militarize and control their own ppl. There wasnt any intention of either side taking over, its all about global government.
