What is with the dislikes? Tarja fans are so ignorant and belligerent that they feel the need to dislike any old song that Anette performs. That's fine if you prefer Tarja but you don't have to roll any content you find with Anette. This is one of those old Nightwish songs where you could prefer either vocalist. Anette does this one and some others so well, it's just a different style, no better, no worse.
First, you can't change the fact that Tarja was fired for not being connected to the bands meaning anymore. Second, they chose someone who was a completely different style because they knew they couldn't find any comparison to Tarja. Lastly, if you hate Tarja, go to a NW concert, and if you hate Anette, go to a Tarja concert, but Tarja will be singing at some of the concerts that NW will be at too. So if you like them both like me, YAY!!!!!!!!!
I like how Anette does not try to be like Tarja. She puts her own style/feelings into the song. It almost feels as if it was a different song, which in a way is great because she is a totally different singer. I just wish that Marco and Anette combination would be as good as Tarja and Marco. Comparisons aside, she does really great at the chorus part "my love it lies so deep", adding a simple bend and a bit of drive. I think she has a lot to offer and people are still too eager to criticize.
It took some time for her to find out she didn't need to go up a step with the band in the ending, it was really bad before that.

Personally I think Anette's voice suits this song better than Tarja's. Yes, there are some songs that only Tarja could pull off, but this is most definitely not one of them.

I am a huge fan of Tarja and this is one of my favorite Nightwish songs. I love Anette's version, its not better than the original but its not worse either.... just different.

I mean, I love her voice much too, but for example the speaking intro of Elvenpath enforces me to jump off the cliff... And actually Anette sings this song correct but it just sounds so different and the high notes are harder for her - I myself love the struggling of her voice because I think it sounds so authentic (given to the emotional lyrics) but I truly understand how some people hate it. Opinions...

Tarja is speaking fluently 3-4 languages and sings in anoter 6-7 more.
Atm she is speaking an almost literary English but still keeps a trace of accent or purpose probably.
The intro for Elvenpath is correctly spelled but with a strong accent and a mezzo-soprano pronunciation.
She was 19-20 years back then and just started to use english in songs, it's a pretty good reason to sound like that.

@rsimion You're not wrong and actually "Elvenpath" wasn't so badly pronounced as I remembered, but "just started to use english in songs" is no excuse, I'm 16 and I honestly believe I spell English better than Tarja... although I could use some practice, too.

@APSISMETAL well,i respect you opinion but all i 've said is re-recording some songs...and re-recording the songs does not mean in any case that someone who sings must sing the songs like the original performance neither that Anette must sing like Tarja..re-recording means that another singer puts his voice on the song...the singer does not try to imitate the previous singer...i recomment you to hear heaven and hell by Dio,by Rob Halford and by ian gillan...then you will see what i mean..

Imho even if Anette would ever be able to sings these poor songs by their notes, professionally, she will still be light years behind Tarja.
Tarja around age 25-26 already surpassed most sopranos in activity.
Her focus and main assets are the timbre, colour and the intensity of interpretation - and these things cannot be learned or taught.

What is with the dislikes? Tarja fans are so ignorant and belligerent that they feel the need to dislike any old song that Anette performs. That's fine if you prefer Tarja but you don't have to roll any content you find with Anette. This is one of those old Nightwish songs where you could prefer either vocalist. Anette does this one and some others so well, it's just a different style, no better, no worse.

First, you can't change the fact that Tarja was fired for not being connected to the bands meaning anymore. Second, they chose someone who was a completely different style because they knew they couldn't find any comparison to Tarja. Lastly, if you hate Tarja, go to a NW concert, and if you hate Anette, go to a Tarja concert, but Tarja will be singing at some of the concerts that NW will be at too. So if you like them both like me, YAY!!!!!!!!!

I like how Anette does not try to be like Tarja. She puts her own style/feelings into the song. It almost feels as if it was a different song, which in a way is great because she is a totally different singer. I just wish that Marco and Anette combination would be as good as Tarja and Marco. His voice is way too powerful for Anette's style of singing.

So for those of you who think Tarja is better: Go listen to her, and stop calling yourself Nightwish fans.
