@Nickuncle Aii U mugs don't realize that it's much more dangerous in a car (do u go on about road safety like u go on about aviation being a kille)r. It's 14 times safer in a plane. A car is more dangerous because it's "landing" all the time. And u don't have planes passing u and missing by two-feet (every few seconds) do u.
@Justwantahover Right....100,000,000 cars in the U.S. ever day vs. 20 planes at Lukla and a few hundred thousand worldwide. There's a reason for the crash rate being lower. And what I wrote was a joke. Nonetheless you'd have to be a complete moron to look at that airstrip and say you'd rather take off and land on it repeatedly instead of driving across the United States.
@Nickuncle I'll just go with the statistics (and it depends on the crash rate at that airport). Statistics say its 14 time s afer in a plane than a car (even when the number of cars, planes and accidents are considered). They say that (when it comes to the bottom-line) the most dangerous part of flying is the drive to the airport (average airport, that is).
@Nickuncle That's right, flying is a radical thing in that if something does go wrong, it's probably goodbye. Bee doubles, however are making the road like that too (unfortunately). Skateboarders who are skillful can surf fences and hand-rails with ease and it's safe too (unless something goes wrong). And they really get hurt badly! See my channel for safe aircraft design. On engine failure I'd rather be in a chopper than a plane (especially a Glass-Air or Lankair).
747 would never stop in time, that's only a 1500-ft runway. Strictly turboprop country, mate. DHC-6, DHC-8, maybe an ATR-72 though I'm not sure about the ATR being able to get back off the ground. The Twin otter is obvious, it's the most common plane we see on the ground in the video. The Dash-8 (DHC-8) could also manage, I've seen them stop that quickly on a much flatter runway. But a jumbo jet.... it wouldn't be able to stop till it hit that mountain at the end of the strip at about 200kph.
Shortest taxi in the world.

Honestly what was the guy who made this airport thinking?
"Mom! I want an airfield!"
"Sweety we already discussed this, we live in the mountains. We can't have airfields in the mountain. Besides, where can you build it?"
"On that 200 yard strip over there! it can work with only high casualties."
"Alright sweety, you keep thinking that."

@Justwantahover They also say that sharks are very unlikely to attack you but we don't swim into the deep waters of Australian surfing beaches.

They bought the little bird in nicely. Man its got to be white-knuckle time getting the airspeed right for that landing.

@fielderxei there aint to underpants that fit those pilots cause their balls are massive...lol
exceptional1414 5 months ago
@hearts76100 definitely! i almost peed in my pants just watching those planes land. those are one heck of pilots!
sinagbayani 4 months ago
@hearts76100 not really because the dhc-6 twin otter slows down really quick and can fly at low sppeds, also the sloped runway helps alot too.
mboy3515 3 months ago
@hearts76100 they have a lot of spare money available from not-building-an-airport so they should be OK :)
