Have I stumbled upon a group of linguistic analysts? I think i have... "There's probably more structure in the book than Azrienoch wanted in it or put in it..."
What the hell does that mean? Burn you Wittgenstein and start over.
This book was written at kind of a transitional time in Azrienoch's intellectual development, and I think he subconciously put a more structure in the book than he realized, in a vain attempt to impose some sort of stability on his rapidly-changing worldview.
We'll see. I publish knowledgebase articles for a technical support organization, along with other projects for the management team. I've never collaborated on a real live book before. =)
Well, that sounds like a very cool job to me, but then again, I'm an electrical engineer/software programmer, so I go in for all that geeky stuff. :-) Sympathies though, most engineers' writing skills are, uh, shall we say, somewhat less than ideal, so I'm sure you have it tough slogging at times.
Like everybody, I suppose, I've got some books in various stages of being written; perhaps if I get motivated enough you could take a look at some of my stuff?
As far as being "real books" or not, well, this whole thing will be as real as we have the wilpower to make it happen!!!
Yeah, well the writing in tech support is even worse than engineers =) we have a team of junior writers who came from tier 1 tech support, writing is not their forte, but they (mostly) have the product expertise for the analytical part of the job. It is tough work for two reasons, their writing is bad, and they are just plain obstinate sometimes. =)
LOL and wow. Is that the literary term for the structure, or did you come up with that? I like it; on the one hand you end up where you began, and on the other, you're on a different side of the "chiasm" entirely. Perhaps I won't be as embarrassed by this as I thought I would!
Yeah, that is a real literary term :-) check out the wikipedia article for "Chiastic Structure" for more info. P.S. if it isn't embarassing yet I can try harder :-)

Thx dude, I think a lot of people out there were looking for some excuse to read through Az's book, this is as good as any. :-)

Thanks Lirpa! Truth be told, Azrienoch's book could have used the services of a Mumbojumbo Translatorus :-)

Ooh, I will have to start advertising my services. =)

Just saw your offer to Az, arn't you a generous person! Editing a book has got to be a boatload of work.

Oh well, off to make part 3....

That would be fantastic. Just let me know when. I'll probably have lots of questions about the subject matter.
