Because we have to learn from it like children, if our parents help us with every situation we become inept and spoiled, the point is we must have faith and the miracle of faith is believing even when you have no tangible evidence of what you worship. So you can experience God/Jesus any time you like, its up to you to believe, free will is his greatest gift to us.
@timewarlord That's probably one of the most ignorant things you can say. When I was little, my parents used to get really mad at me and sometimes hit me because I had a night-time bed-wetting issue. (They thought I could control it, but I could not) I prayed to God for years to make me normal and/or my parents stop being this way, but, they stayed the same and I still had the problem. Eventualy, I got over the problem (later than the average for boys) . I have more sotries but they don't fit.

It only takes a little research to find several testimonies of answered prayer. I think it's really important that you forgive your parents and let go of the past. Mine used to say God loves helping people, and other blablabla. To tell you the truth, I'm not a bitter person. I actually am a pretty easy-going person and I enjoy life. But through my 'religious experiences' I have learned that in life, you can't expect people to help you so if you want something done, you must rely on yourself to do it.
