On of the absolutely best songs of all my time, in my opinion. The synthesizer sequences in this song are amazing. Every time I hear this song, it sends shivers up my spine......
No Doubt covered it because it was a song they grew up with, like many of us in the same age group. I understood that, even though I prefer the original.
Gotta have my 80s synth-pop era. It was apart of my childhood and I will always cherish it. Love Talk Talk! I liked No Doubt's cover, but nothing beats the original.
this is the same version that was used in GTA vice city stories and propable the best version of it well done bring old good classics to life TALK TALK ROOLS!!!!
Christ, what a brilliant pop song! Talk Talk had such a magical sound. Mark Hollis' voice never sounded as awesome as it does on this track. Bless the 80's.
@tamsta40 hehe u know why thier doing it its because thier running outa ideas , so they rip and copy others
id hope to ask permission 1st before doing so :) 9 times outta ten the origianal is better , but sometimes on rare times the repreductions recording or a 2nd artist is just is good :)
@tamsta40/ No thats not the case. They do it for the artist, to pay respect. They get their permission to use it. And it makes the original get more noticed
@tonypauzz At the cost of them bodging it to all hell, driving most people away at first glance who don't wish to put time into looking for the original.
Thank you RememberToday4ever... I couldn't agree more with your comments. When I hear Gwens version, its like nails down a chalkboard. Write and sing your own crap Gwen... PLEASE!!!! At least I'm not the only one that dislikes her poor rendition of this classic.
@MrMichaels66 Can't find a video on You Tube of this song that doesn't have something negative about Gwen Stefani to say in its top-rated comments. So mundane. I was actually pleased to hear it on the radio when it I first heard it. It's only through these covers that we are reminded and appreciate the past. Plus she and No Doubt have plenty of original material, unlike many artists who live off remakes and butchered samples.
this song is brilliant, but i'm so disappointed to know that Gwen didn't make this song herself, just took it from some 80's band. in a way it's sad, but in other it's good to know that these bands on the 80's influence people today, so that it shows that those bands back in those days were much better. i SO wished i was born those days!
Eu cacei essa música durante muito tempo... Eu a escutava quando era criança... E até que enfim eu a encontrei!!! Grato a você, que postou o clipe!!! muito grato!!!
KROQ circa 78-85 nothing even comes close. Thanks to napster in 1996 I grabbed over 2000 songs from this era. Rare stuff that never gets any airplay anymore. New Order, Pretenders, Midnight Oil, The Clash, Men Without Hats, The Kingbees, The English Beat, Human League, Echo and the Bunnymen, Berlin, Reflex, The Fixx, and the list goes on and on. Something magical happens @ 00:49 in this version, something cuts deep inside me bringing me back to those carefree early 80's days......
@TurtleDove38 agree my fav span 1977-1982 major things going on that still influence today, early police fusing new wave and punk, the Clash, Punk which later inspired grundge 90s. the root of 80 metal started with Van Halen at its best & of course Randy Rhoads bridging a neo clasical sound that spurred the 80s metal gutiarist that was to dominate the next 10 yrs, even early rap was started then with grandmaster flash ect. Missing Persons was my fav new wave band of that time
@TurtleDove38 King-Love and Pride, P Lion- Happy Children, Baltimora-Tarzan Boy.......all th great obscuuuuuure hits. Not the pop shit. I LOVED this when it came out though. Talk-Talk and Depeche Mode.
