@123homar123 There called "coin scrapes." they are actually really sweet. In my marching band show we had coin scrapes on our four different gongs. its actually a nice touch.

If you do a flat flam with yarn mallets it creates a crash sound.

It's helpful when going from a roll straight to a crash with a small percussion section.

@123homar123 , @alexgo4210 I have had multiple peices of music where the music specifically says to scrape the suspended with a coin so its really not that stupid. peices like ground hogs lament or something in that area of music have parts that scraping it with a coin gives it effect and accent

No talk about technique (for example, french technique provides a much more effective leverage on the suspended symbol) and nothing serious about where to hit the cymbal. For example, when you ACTUALLY hit the cymbal with the shaft of the stick it's important to note WHERE the stick (usually right below the tip is the clearest sound) hits the cymbal. I'm not going to lie, you can learn this stuff and more with just a few minutes of experimentation.
