The summit is closed in the winter for obvious safety reasons, not to mention that the temperature plus windchill can be as low as -100%F. It's usually around 30-40% F in the summer and winds around 70-70mph

The summit is not closed in the winter. They staff it year around. you cannot drive your car up the auto road in winter because there is feet of snow and ice on it. You can hike up to the summit year around as well. I've 3 attempts to the summit in December, January, and February.

I can't wait to hike Mount Washington. If it's that windy (which I highly doubt it will be in the summer), it would be great for a video.

It will be that windy..Its the highest MT in New england...Theres nothing else to stop the wind up there.

@cnut1016 It took 3 summers to complete the Sherman Adams State Park Building, and it was finished in August of 1980. It was quite an endeavor, to say the least!
