  • @AyeYirMa I put the English title because I sing it in English, but I've added it now.

Go to my website (see information panel above), click on "My Folk Songs", then on "Irish Songs." You will find the lyrics there. Not sure how accurate they are.

  • i actuaaly have to do that song for my solo song in choir. i'm practicing:^)

  • @TheCuteCrayon Good luck. I'm sure you'll do it well.

  • I cannot be more pleased that certain great songs are kept alive here in the 21st century!! You can be proud to know that you're doing your part.

  • Thanks, Becky.

  • nice to hear the whole song......superb thank you

  • Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • I don't usually say things, but I'm partial to your versions of songs, since you don't over dramatize them vocally or musically. You've got the sort of artistic flair I fancy in a musican.

I thought this version was particularily sweet, even boardering on wistful at times. It played like a lament and a love song at the same time without sounding syrupy.

You were in good voice & your playing was very lovely. Well done Raymond, thank you for sharing this with us.

  • Thank you for your detailed and supportive comment. It's very much appreciated.

  • First time I've heard this sung in English, great job, Raymond. -; Alan

  • Thanks, Alan. I've only heard it in English - sung by Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem.

  • "When like the early rose I lean aroond". Poor chap must have got loads of cuts!

  • Looks like I need to put the lyrics up. Thanks for your comment.

  • It's only a joke!

  • So was my reply. :-)

  • How very pretty. Nice playing and singing ... just lovely. Quite the romantic tale as well ...

  • Thank you. It's a bit more romantic than being eaten by little green creatures (yesterday's song).
